Sandy, can gems be unmerged from shields like they can with weapons and Artifacts?

It says you can in the description I posted.

So, if I merge an Amethyst with a shield or artefact, am I immune from attacks made by Dark type enemies (free hits, damage, special damage)? If not, how exactly does it work?

No, you are immune to damage that is specified as darkness. Like for example, a fire breath special will probably say: Does X amount of Fire Damage, etc.

Not sure that I have seen such attacks. Are these pretty ordinary?

What if the the opponent has an elemental weapon? Do I have immunity to regular attacks & free hits?

They're not that common, but you'll probably see at least one in each quest. Imbuing gems in an artifact, like imbuing scrolls, is probably just going to protect you from a few Special Damage rolls. For other enemy attacks, you have to rely on SP. (otherwise we could just imbue all nine gems in an artifact and be invincible against the vast majority of enemies)

*huh* When did that happen?! I thought Sandy specifically said shields COULDN'T be upgraded with gems or scrolls, in response to Docken wanting to imbue them into the shield. *huh*

I believe it was scrolls only. I see no problem with imbuing gems into shields.

Not trying to min/max btw, just wanting to understand before I start slapping gems on stuff.

Minmax away - it's one of the best parts of the game, IMO. :sweet: It's a great challenge and I like finding strategies that work.

Maurice can use the Heavy Armour, it's suitable for Barbarians and Knights and he's part Knight.

Oh, okay. I got confused when the description in the marketplace specifically mentioned dragoons and skirmishers. But all things considered I think the Paladin's armour with immunity to Light that he got now fits even better.

I'm definitely not guilty of min-maxing, the Heavy armour was probably better seen from a player perspective, but I don't really care about making Maurice some kind of superhero. It's more important to me to develop his story.

Honestly, if you have a mage that has a damaging special, just make it an element. A lot of the time it is not specified, when it actually can be.

Agreed 100%.

QM goof.

I have to admit, I feel a little bad for Zeph, having to deal with all of our crazy stats and item changes.

Then I remember the latest three sets of battles, and just sit back and grin wickedly.

Flipz, be sure to check Thalion's latest reply to Amma in #55 top of page 25 on #55, there is a mention of Arthur and a display of some of the dark influence Arthur was on Thalion. The speech is titled "When goody-goody gets angered." :classic:

So, after some time pulling bits out of storage I shot the photos for my training sequence (I even assembled a Copper Fox!) and also found the bits for a Guts, Sorrow Mizuki (=Nya, easy!), Nagure (even easier!) and a version of De'kra. All in all, I'm a happy hero.

Now I just need to find time to edit!

Sounds gut good! :thumbup::excited:

Short question: How do you guys pronounce "Stigveladi Kötturin" (and how "Amma") and what do you think of when you hear her names? Is there a difference between Stiveladi and Amma (i.e. what conception do you have from her when you hear the names)?

I don't pronounce it. I just say "Amma." It's easier than reading the whole long thing.

It's like how Pretzel took to calling Erdathcath, Erdy, it's just because I was too lazy to think about the spelling of Erdathcath.

Think about Dreyrugr then. That was hard to learn (at least for me). :classic:

Just saw this now.

I always said Dreyrugr, Dreygur. Don't know why. :look:

I guess I read the names quickly, and slap an easy pronounciation on it without thinking twice. I used to call Thormanil "Thornmail."

I said the same to him until I had to write the name. Even then I had to look it up several times.

It's just easier to speak, I guess. On the other hand I have no idea how to pronounce Dreyrugr correctly.

Credits for that pic go to herrJJ. He sent me that pic after he read the post and I pasted it in. It made me lough hard, too.

The same for me, I always said Dreygur until I had to write it down and I noticed the r :look:

For PsyKater I said always Amma, I think it is more practical to remember and to day :classic:
