Why do you hate XX so much? He himself was hardly even an annoyance in Dastan, it's his hired help that's the problem. We need to get him to hire us instead of the Bombsters.

It's just Atramor that doesn't like him. Plus, this is pretty much the third time he's escaped being killed.

Why is Zepher constantly killing off the good NPCs but we never get to kill a bad one? Vonnetate, XX, U'Vires, Sphinx, Lyons, Zane, Zander....I know several have died, but it seems like NPCs always get the finishing blow. Only exception I can recall is Draco. Oh, and Mephisto. We are not dragging him along, I don't care what the story, any NPCs, or any PCs say. Skull for a face = needs to die.

Vonnetate, Lyons, and Zander are the only really bad ones on that list...we had a chance to kill Zander, but we gave it up to Zane. The rest of those characters are/were interesting and nuanced, yes they sided against the Heroes, but they all had their reasons (XX is the Honorable Killer for Hire, a la Shelley De Killer, U'Vires was fighting for his people and picked the wrong side, Sphinx...is a young Jeff Bridges who is perpetually stoned ( ) and yet still spits out nuggets of wisdom, and Zane...he's a man of favors. If you can get him to owe you one, it's a solid investment. He isn't good or bad, he's one of the most squarely Neutral characters we've seen in Heroica. All of these are people we (or at least I) would like to see more of.

Vonnetate, of course, is clearly being kept around to torment us, it'll make his punishment all the more sweet when it finally happens.

I'm not part of this 'you've'. I'll never understand why heroes are so merciful to maniacs like Zane and Zander, neither in nor out of character. I can see the reasoning sometimes, but these guys are just plain crazy.

But again, NPC deaths, both friend and foe, are still on the way.

You can use it to defuse situations, gain information or improve relations with NPCs. It's all up to the QM on how effective it is though.

Be sure you bold your diplomacy action though. For example:

Using diplomacy, I ask the man: "Who are you?"

Then the QM can recognize better that you use it and try to get more information!

Other than the embassy, I don't think there is. Scorpiox and me have a private topic (PM) running in which we invent, save and discuss background material for the Norse, but as I've said, that's private . I believe it's more fun for you guys to discover things about their homes through RP rather than throw it all out in the open .

Sandy, I forgot to say it the first time you posted that world map, but I just love how the size of the Northern continent is almost exactly as I had it in mind .

It would be nice to have one so QMs could construct a cultural continuity between quests in the same locations.

It's generally up to the QMs to read previous quests set in that area, or ask an authority on the area (Scuba, for example, would be asked questions about Strivvi, CJP/Sandy about Charis, Scorpiox/Khrone about the North). So far everyone has been super respectful of what the other QMs have set up (WBD even contacted me for lessons on how the U'Kin spokes because he hadn't really run into them yet in Dastan when he was going to put one in 28).

I agree, perhaps someday we can put that list together, but for now people should look it up. Even the architecture of certain places feel a certain way - I know JimBee, BD and I worked hard to make Dastan look like a unified place building wise, and I ALWAYS had open a Sandy picture or WBD picture while building Eubric MOCs in hopes that they'd look alike.

That's one of the many things that are yet to be done for this game. But as you notice, many of the lands are yet unnamed, and others are just names, so there is still a lot of room for creativity in building up the world.

So far the quests have mostly taken place around the Crystalline Sea. The heroes have explored the Free Islands (obviously), Dastan, some High Kingdoms, Abra Desert and its coastline, the northern parts of Mistaria and Kalma, and my current quest takes place in Xu.

Some places mentioned in the map are related to the player characters, namely Värtland (Eric & Haldor), Goblonia (Cronk), Spesialia (Rufindel), Fenario (Namyrra), Etheria (Arthur) and Pantana (Ad-hoh). Njago is something I picked up from Chromeknight's post to the Hall. The rest of the names are coined by me.

I look at the sign ups for quest 58 and see how massive my chance are of getting in. And If I get into Quest#57 then my reputation with the Guild of invsison will drop and I will have no reputation (Is that right? ) Nonetheless, another Quest from Flare is highly welcomed.

No offense but with positive reputation with the Guild of Invision it's unlikely that you'll be chosen

Maybe the QM (Sandy) will take into account that Sarge wants to become Cannonneer. Maybe not. Be patient ;)

Welp, state of emergency has just been declared on my end: Blizzard! We're expecting two to three feet of snow, and my neighborhood is smack dab in the middle of the blizzard warning area.

Hopefully I don't lose power, but if I go inactive, that is the reason. Time to break out the shovel!

On a related note and out of curiosity, are there any Quests lined up by anyone for the near-ish future? The Hall's going to be downright flooded with heroes once 53 ends. I'm brainstorming smaller Quest ideas myself.
