Zepher Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 TWO (That's right, TWO) exciting announcements! 1) Voting for the awards ends.... TOMORROW. So, please, if you play and haven't voted, vote. The awards will be fun and we have lots of votes in, but the more, the merrier, and there are quite a few of you who play hard but have yet to vote!! 2) I am considering (only considering at this point, but very seriously considering) running two PERSONAL quests at the end of the summer (Think: July or August). These quests would be VERY SHORT (2 to 3 battles tops, probably a month long at most). They would explore a specific character's backstory or be a quest I think would be seminal to them. The way they'd work would be this: people would send me applications with character information they want to explore more/character traits they want to develop, and I'd pick out of those and make a quest around that. These quests would be custom made and for a purpose you chose, but would still be designed entirely by me. They would also be available to teams of two or three, if people could think up a god enough reason (EX: Tarn and Nyx go back to Dastan and meet with Ella/XX - would be for two, would develop both of their characters, but I'd still come up with the actual plot). Would people be interested in this, and would a few other QMs be willing to also consider hosting a few at the same time? I think it would be a fun event. Quote

CMP Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 That would be really cool Zepher. Finally getting real work done on my next Quest so making another might be a bit difficult, but if you just need help hosting I might be able to help. Quote
Wedge09 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 My small opinion: I think Zepher's idea for a the short quests could be a good idea to develope character's personality, story and relationship with "close" friends. Quote

Can I nominate De'kra and Cronk for one of those Quests? I'd also be willing to help host personal Quests (if I can manage to get the Quest I'm working on done first), even if it's just running battles. That would be really cool Zepher. Finally getting real work done on my next Quest so making another might be a bit difficult, but if you just need help hosting I might be able to help. Does this new Quest by chance involve Illdria? Zepher Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Well, I'd actually be looking for QMs to host quests entirely independent of me! We'd sort through all the requests for personal quests together, and then pick our favorites and each host a small quest for that person/small party. That way we could include more people's personal quest requests without me having to come up with like, four stories and host four quests at one time! But they'd be small quests, and not too much work. We'll see when the time is closer, but I think it would be fun! Quote
CMP Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Does this new Quest by chance involve Illdria? I am trying to have the Magpie involved one way or another in most of my Quests. But as of right now it's just a plot concept that I've settled on. Still, that's farther than I've gotten in most of my ideas recently. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 You should actually be at 30. Fixed. Quote

While I appreciate Zepher's enthusiasm, he has not spoken to me about any of these plans, so please think nothing of them before him and me have had a little chat... Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Hmm, advancing Docken's story... Well, considering that Docken doesn't have a storyline, advancing his story means giving him an Adamantite shield and immunity to all negative effects and all elements. In which case I'd be interested. Quote
Zepher Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Crazy ol' Zepher has done it again, folks. Too overzealous as always. Sandy and I will get back to you! Quote
Flipz Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 You know, voting for the awards just now reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask...what are each QM's most hated villains? You know, like how EVERYONE absolutely loathes Vonnetate, or how Guts and Nerwen's party hated Sorona with a burning firey passion. Who is each QM's most hated villain, living, dead, and soon-to-be-dead? Quote
Zepher Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 As in... what? Who do I love to hate the most, or who do I think is best of my villains, or which of my villains I hate to play as the most? Or of the villains I've faced, which ones do I dislike most? Be specific, damn it! Quote

Who is each QM's most hated villain, living, dead, and soon-to-be-dead? What, thinking of reviving the most hated one for your Quest? I'd say Baba. Oh, did you mean each QM's own villains? That's an easier one, I only had like one real bad guy in 51. Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Vonnetate, Rhodus, Sorona and Baba. Quote
swils Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 It is for this reason that I will never accept anyone claiming that the Raider class is underpowered ever again. Where's my "Innocent Whistle" emoticon when I need it? Quote

Nah, I'm looking to study the best, in order to create the best. Edited February 15, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Sandy Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 I actually haven't had that many true villains in my quests. Many of the adversaries are more in the neutral side of life rather than being plain evil. This includes the Wolfgang, the Shadeaux and Reno Bonaparte. Even the bandits in the pagoda seem more misguided than evil. The most evil of my villains (aside from the demons, of course) would be Sycamore Ziegfried, who nearly destroyed her husband's entire family by dabbling with dark magic. What comes to Baba, she's grown from being just a wicked witch in a swamp to a future key player in the main storyline, mostly thanks to the input of the players in Quest#14. She's the one I can't wait to tell you more about... Quote
Zepher Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Of other people's villains, I was a huge fan of the Maa'ri. They were beautifully handled both times they appeared. They were complex, and their betrayal was genius. That was one of the (if not THE MOST) saddest Heroica moments for me. Issac Shawe is also great, even though Docken likes to pretend that he can't roleplay. And Baba, of course. Deals with the devil are always superb. Of my own - I actually like my cast of villains a lot, and have had fun with most of them. XX probably remains my favorite, though. I'm happy he was left alive. Like Sandy said, I really don't think ANY of my villains are purely evil. Vonnetate is perhaps the only exception, and probably Draco too, but he was so long ago, who remembers him? Quote
CMP Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Those are all the kinds of baddies I like, the ones that aren't just bent on killing everything. Vonnetate is perhaps the only exception, and probably Draco too, but he was so long ago, who remembers him? Guarantee if you that if Draco had made an anagram at least a few people would remember him. Quote
Endgame Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) Those are all the kinds of baddies I like, the ones that aren't just bent on killing everything. ...Whoopsies, I've made 2 of those in one quest. Granted, both of them at this point have basically snapped, but still. I will always, always, always hate the Maginastra, despite the fact he wasn't a villain; Fantome and Baba as well. Most hated villain I've made thus far? Prometheus. My favorite? Aquos. Edited February 15, 2013 by Endgame Quote
The Legonater Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Would people be interested in this, and would a few other QMs be willing to also consider hosting a few at the same time? I think it would be a fun event. Cool! It sounds like a really fun idea. Frankly, I don't really know what to suggest for Dyric, though, or anyone else. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I try not to have evil, evil villains, although Sorona was pretty far gone towards the end with the creation of the Sisterhood. The Maginastra wasn't really a villain at all, just misguided. Haroka was more of an object to find than a fully fleshed out villain, both times he appeared. He did more evil things historically but it was difficult to show them happening in the present. I'd argue the Darkstar was more villainous! Quote
Chromeknight Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Yeah, that's the best way to put it, what villains do you most love to hate in Heroica? I'm looking to study the best, in order to create the best. A villain that players will hate? Easy. Have them betray the party or force the party to do something the party really does not want to do. Then have them escape and let the betrayal or feeling of being used fester... Quote
Flare Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Copper Fox will kill me when I come back to the Hall and request to become an assassin... Again Quote
