Ooh, that's interesting...I was under the impression that it was a weaker Paralyzed; it worked the same, but only worked every other Round. That's the way it was done in WBD's recent Quest, with that rock monster that started off the battle Slowed. I honestly prefer it the way WBD did it, it allows for different strategies.

Yes, Slowed is only supposed to work every other Round. When I created the effect, the intent was that it was the opposite of Hastened, so it only decreases the rate at which the hero or enemy can act, it doesn't prevent them from acting at all. Additionally, a Hastened enemy that becomes Paralyzed loses both its Free Hits, while a Hastened enemy that becomes Slowed should only lose one Free Hit. (because the Slowed-effect only negates the Hastened-effect, instead of specifically affecting Free Hits like the Paralyzed-effect does)

We're talking about in relation to enemies, not heroes, I think.

Yes, I know, that's why I mentioned Free Hits and said "hero or enemy". It works the same way against both. A Slowed enemy cannot act against a hero every other Round, just as a Slowed hero cannot act against an enemy every other Round. And for both heroes and enemies, the Hastened and Slowed effects cancel each other out.

The FAQ says they simply nullify an enemy's free hits, though.

I think using your description for the Slowed effect dealt to enemies would work if Paralyzed was listed as an 'official' negative effect, but I can't think how Paralyzed could be used against heroes.

Is the quest even officially over? It doesn't look like Endgame's actually told you that the quest was completed and you could return to the Hall.

I guessed it was all over, two people have already left the scene. But you might be right due to this is my first quest. :blush:

Prevents use of specialty 'Miss', 'Damage', and 'Special Damage' rolls and Counterstrike, perhaps? It's a weak effect in the first place, no sense in making it overly strong against Heroes.

I just checked and it did indeed say: renders the enemy incapable of dishing out free hits (when I made it). That's a bad idea. If a physical aoe Shield or just AoE weapon in general got hold of it you would have an incredibly easy battle. Three rounds no free hitsis still too much, I thought it was a stun thing, perhaps that's what it should be, a venom that applies a stun. Or: since it's a consumable, just don't make any more of them. :tongue:

Or just hurry up and lop Apprentice's head off. Endgame likes dramatic deaths, if you don't kill him now he'll be bleeding and insulting you guys for another few pages... :tongue:

Not really, actually; aside from the Explosive Staff, the Banana Bladerang, and the Cat O' Nine Tails, it's not easy to get AoE on enemies; if a Barbarian applied Paralyzing Venom to their weapon, then they'd only Paralyze all the enemies on a SHIELD roll. That's not a bad thing; it's rewarding the player for their lucky roll, which is fine; it's little different from getting a lucky AoE roll with other types of poison. It's only with the above three AoE weapons that it breaks the system.

As for the three Rounds being too much thing, nuh-uh, no way. You guys are WAY too crazy with handing out Free Hits these days; we need some sort of defense against them. :tongue:

I don't like the idea of a straight-up Stun venom; let Stun chances be a special quality of certain weapons and leave it at that. :wink:

Last thing you need to know about Heroica: The quest isn;t over until the QM declares it. Edit out those hall posts, folks!

I kind of like the idea of walking away while the Apprentice is screaming bloody murder and bleeding to death. As for his cousin, the Stealer of Senses, I don't think we'll get an opportunity to "take care of" him since the previous battle was listed as the Final Battle. If there is another battle, then the QM would have lied to us, and what kind of QM would lie to his players. :look:

You're also both stinking rich and can afford Nostrum up the wazoo, and you two seem to get WAY more SHIELDs than any of the rest of us anyway. :tongue: Though I do admit you'd both be nightmares to balance with Paralyzing Venom, you're kind of both nightmares to balance for anyway--not just for your insane stats, but also for your sheer dumb luck. :tongue:

Also, just so that it doesn't go unsaid, Guts would totally kick Eric's megablocks, Guts is completely immune to Eric's main weapon, which also takes away the benefit of his most powerful artifact, the Evasion Boots, since he would logically switch to his throwing weapons instead.
