Palathadric Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 There is a certain pleasure received from seeing Eric and Guts slice through the enemies, and fill their pockets like crazy, but not as much as the pleasure of seeing them get wounded. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Huh, I'd never noticed before that Guts doesn't have any Defense. I thought he at least had one of those artifacts providing 1-3 SP. Quote
Palathadric Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Eric's not being lucky wouldn't really make a difference since he rolled "shield" first both times. However, if you just count the first three rolls as the rolls he and Nerwen gets, then it actually may be even better for the party since Eric would still ravage and hit and Nerwen would perform a blood ritual which would heal Guts. So if Sandy were to take back Eric's "luckiness" it may actually benefit the party. ...alright, Eric's pockets may not be quite as full, but that's a minor detail really. I would like to see somebody attempt to sell a lucky die/satchel of awesomeness to Fabian. How much would that yield, gold-wise, I wonder. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 No defense? No worries, got consumables! Eric's not being lucky wouldn't really make a difference since he rolled "shield" first both times. Yeah I realise, it's up to Sandy, I guess. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Sandy, you did Lifestealer's effect as +3 health for each enemy hit. If that's how you think it should be done, that's very fine with me, but everybody else always did just +3 even when hitting multiple enemies. What is the correct way? Or QM's discretion? that's fine too! Quote
Sandy Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 Sandy, you did Lifestealer's effect as +3 health for each enemy hit. If that's how you think it should be done, that's very fine with me, but everybody else always did just +3 even when hitting multiple enemies. What is the correct way? Or QM's discretion? that's fine too! It's not my item, so I just took the description literally as "each successful hit restores 3 health". It did not really matter this time around, since you would've gotten to full health in either case. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 When I gave you the item you couldn't do multiple hits, Scuba. As you know in Quest#52 I always counted it as one +3 health increase even if you got a Ravage, but given how things like Lion's Heart worked when Tarn was a Barbarian (Frenzy Stunned every enemy) I guess Sandy's interpretation is valid too. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I think modifying the description to "Each successful attack turn" is fair. So if you are hastened and hit an enemy twice, you'd get +3 health twice. Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 If an item or ability can be interpreted in more than one way, then I would say it is up to the discretion of the QM. Quote
Flare Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 If an item or ability can be interpreted in more than one way, then I would say it is up to the discretion of the QM. Or the QM that made the item could clarify Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I agree that it should be up to the creator of the item to clarify its effects (and any changes should be approved by Sandy, of course). In this case, though, I think it makes more sense if Lifestealer steals HP with every successful hit, able to steal from multiple enemies. (perhaps a slight nerf to stealing 2 HP instead of 3 could balance that if it makes the weapon too powerful) Quote

Brickdoctor Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 No! It's not Ratbane. It's better than Ratbane, that's the whole point! Have we ever had a case where Ratsbane was used with an AoE attack? (Actually looking at the Treasury; I didn't realize that Ratsbane/Sapper restored 2 HP; I had thought that it restored 1 HP. In light of that, I think Lifestealer doesn't need a nerf, and I still think it should be able to steal more than 3 HP on AoE attacks.) Quote
CMP Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 No! It's not Ratbane. It's better than Ratbane, that's the whole point! I'm sorry, do you have a x16 multiplier against rats? Quote
swils Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I would like to see somebody attempt to sell a lucky die/satchel of awesomeness to Fabian. How much would that yield, gold-wise, I wonder. I'd bet that there are several people who would step in before Sandy could post Fabian's response and make a pre-emptive counter offer to dissuade the owner from selling the die to Fabian. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I'm sorry, do you have a x16 multiplier against rats? Oh I am sorry, I didn't here you over the sound of Lifestealer killing everything. Quote
CMP Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Oh I am sorry, I didn't here you over the sound of Lifestealer killing everything. Yeah, but you're killing under the influence, that doesn't count. I dare you to get a single kill without Nostrums, Mead, and Smelling Salts. Quote
