The Legonater Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Wren cares about passion, she cares about living forever... Just like... real people !! Who wants to live forever? Quote
Endgame Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) And yet here we are, a bunch of mortals fighting a god.... Bah! Wren is by no means a pushover... but she is an indicator of how powerful a god is, the divine pantheon of Heroica is screwed. Also, calling it: Master of Regret comes and eats Wren's soul as she is defeated. Cue true final boss battle. Edited March 11, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Pandora Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Well, he IS healing people who treat him with respect... Respect is earned. Perhaps you're right. Of course I am; you know I am. In other news, meet Nyx the Fiery BattleMage: Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Please, please, please, if Arthur survives this, can they run a quest to cover this. Monk Pretzel will sign up. I know if he were to meet Arthur he'd probably love to kill him...but then again, he would hate the Teuthisals probably more. Cover the Mon Dac Reef? It's in one of my planned quests. Quote

I kinda wish I'd written that down before hand. Sorry for the delay, 62ers, I'll have the thread open in about 10 minutes. Not all that information is crucial, but it serves to set the scene a bit as well. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited March 11, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Can it be used as an artefact? Wren's Skull (SP: 4, Solidifies your status as a badass. All players must refer to you as a one as long as Wren's Skull is equipped) Item comes with warning. If Tesni hears of this player equipped will be hunted down, what is left of them may possibly become a jaunty banner on the roof of Heroica Hall while the "artifact" gets a respectful burial. Be glad Tesni is not on the quest... In other news, meet Nyx the Fiery BattleMage: Nize one... Uh, this bucket of water is for my feet, not as a protection from combustion... honest Quote
Endgame Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 You wouldn't! Would you? Pit you against a god? No, silly, my enemies in 48 have had an ungodly amount of HP thus far. It disqualifies them from godhood. Quote
Pandora Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Nize one... Uh, this bucket of water is for my feet, not as a protection from combustion... honest Thanks. Tesni has nothing to fear, though, (not that she ever does ) if she ever met Nyx. I'm sure they'd get on like a house on fire. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Thread's up! Also, I can't believe it, but I made a huge typo in one of the tags. It should say: Brendenton, not, Brebdebton. Pit you against a god? No, silly, my enemies in 48 have had an ungodly amount of HP thus far. It disqualifies them from godhood. I can't argue with that logic! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 On a serious note, is Arthur seriously that unsympathetic? I'd think people might understand him, even if they didn't agree with him. Or have I completely misunderstood the whole point of the Wren Saga: that everything is Gray, good people do bad things and bad people good ones, and even villains have traits that should be admired. Realistically role-playing conflict can be one of the most difficult challenges of a game like this. Because we are all so spread apart, only post a few times a day, we never have a chance to really "feel" for another player, at least that's how I perceive it. It usually takes a good back and forth session of conversation for me to feel like Skrall really cares about someone, instead of WBD caring about achieving the objective of the quest whilest allowing for some adequate role-play. Also, we're touching on subjects that people generally have pretty firmly held beliefs on: truth, relativism, black and white, gray, right and wrong, morals, ethics, etc. and it is difficult to not have those influence the way you interact with people in the game. In the end not everyone is going to agree, with their fellow characters, PC's, or even QM's when it comes to these issues. My final point is, it's not that Arthur is unsympathetic, it is you are dealing with issues that most people don't want to spend the time hashing out, point by point, in a forum RPG. The game wasn't designed for that, and while some of it is okay in game, we need to be careful not to let it become all about that, there are other places for such discussions. Quote
Endgame Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) Hmm... Could've sworn it allowed me and Flare to go back and add tags on our Quests. Was that only for existing topics after the board switch? Edited March 11, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Zepher Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Absolutely. The Wren story, even with all of its thoughts and thinking, really boils down to some goodies beating a baddie. I just tried to make it a baddie that was worth listening to from time to time! Quote

The thing is, I'm an artist; my job, no matter which field(s) of art I ultimately decide to work with, is to put those uncomfortable truths in front of people, because everyone needs to wrestle with them for themselves. It's the ultimate point--and struggle--of art. Or, to put it another way, I take things way too f*cking seriously because it's my mission in life, and I need to learn to not be surprised when people don't like it. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 That would be a waste. Look at all his loot! Obviously, we'd take his loot first. Never waste loot. Or have I completely misunderstood the whole point of the Wren Saga Yes. Just wait and see if you don't roll shield in the first two rounds. I also gave you an incredible opportunity that you missed. you could have favored "floor" and "goddess" types at the end of this quest. Yes, you'd be really prepared to go up against Zepher's next boss: Carp Et- the god of floors! Quote

It's not that bringing those uncomfortable truths up is a bad thing and I applaud the people that bring us quests that makes us consider deeper concepts, it's just that not everyone is looking for Heroica to be their philosophical outlet, so don't be surprised if people don't feel sympathy for the guy that wants to discuss it and face it, even if they did, I'm sure there would be characters and players (as there are now) who simply do not agree with you. Can we go back to stabbing and looting things now. Quote
Zepher Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I'm so embarrassed that Corny found out about Carp Et before he was revealed. I thought everyone was going to be surprised. Quote
Endgame Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) Zoot is actually just a floor. That's what Wren meant by pulling the rug out from under over him! Edited March 12, 2013 by Endgame Quote

Flipz Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Nonsense. Nobody trusts you enough to be surprised by anything you throw at us anymore. At this point, nothing surprises us. See above. Though I AM calling that by fighting Wren, we're stupidly releasing what control she has over Zoot, meaning we'll have to fight a Splinter of him, too. Just to rub it in that you can't win against a Zepher villain Wren's not completely evil. Quote
CMP Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Wren's not completely evil. That's one thing I don't get. Isn't her goal to destroy Heroica? How isn't that evil? Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 That's one thing I don't get. Isn't her goal to destroy Heroica? How isn't that evil? Well, considering Heroica can be rightly viewed as a den of bizarrely powerful mercenaries who have been known to steal, murder, and alter world politics for better or worse, I'm surprised she doesn't have more popular support. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
