The thing is though, that upgrading weapons is basically useless, that's what this proves. Of course it seems my playstyle is rendered as bad, that's a personal thing and doesn't neccasarily merit change. That the whole weapon-upgrading thing is useless because of these drops, that does. And of course I can have multiple weapons, but tell me honestly, if you had Conspirator, would you really have a need for Lifestealer? In most cases not really.

I agree, weapon upgrading has become kind of pointless, but it's unlikely that you'll come across another weapon with the blinded effect again. It might be worth upgrading that, but yes i think a good strategy is to wait on a better weapon to come your way if you have a weak one to begin with (I say that in a general sense, not for Guts).

Yeah, this is why I think Zepher's upgrade items idea has merit.

Where did the Twin Broadswords come from and what was the original description?

They were from the finale of Dastan, they were dropped by ex-Emperor Roland Emeraldo, who was JimB's NPC. :wink:

Second time round. I aimed for more of a strict 1:1 conversion from Lego. I'm still not satisfied, but it's getting better. I challenge you MDM to give this one a go.

Scuba, I think you're complaining over something a little bit silly. Reno drops an incredible weapon because he's kind of the first final boss of the game we've seen... so, it's relatively understandable. I highly doubt that Sandy sat there and tried to think of a way to make your weapon upgrades not matter.

Merging weapons, however, is outrageously unfair. So sometimes you have to restart with another weapon? So what? Many players alternate weapons. Many alternate more than two. I alternated four for a while because some had benefits that others did not.

I did suggest that we be allowed to use the honing stones. Check the QM thread for that suggestion. But essentially YOU chose to pour money into lifestealer. That's no one else's fault. So you'll end up with one weapon that steals life, and one that blinds them, but it will take to turns to use them both... and you're hastened most of the time... I actually can't see what you're complaining about... :sceptic:

Not miffed at all. I was just wondering how they came about. I can't seem to find them. What quest were they dropped in?

You're entirely missing the point though. As I said, my strategy with these drops was bad with the fact that stupid high WP weapons are a regular thing now, and that is everything higher than 15. I did not realize this was happening, I don't think it should, but that doesnt matter. That is my fault. But also: Weapon Upgrades don't mean shit with these drops. Not my fault, and I see that as a possible flaw. You might as well remove weapon upgrading, honestly.

And I am just saying, Eric should get the drop, not talking about my case, just about the thing in general. My point is: There is no reason to do Weapon Upgrades, not: Boohoo Lifestealer is useless now.

There are only 4 other weapons over 15 WP:

Pheles Rod (also from a "Big Big Bad"), Twin Broad Swords, Godricsleif (which was upgraded to where it is by rogue money), Steel Fan (also upgraded due to rogue), Demonic Scissors (upgraded by a rogue)... and that's it. The average, if I had to guess, is a little under 10 WP, actually. So again, I don't think weapons are too powerful right now.

EDIT: That was pulled from the Hero Statistic pages. So you're right, actually, I think there has been a drop or two in 50 that's over 20 as well. Regardless, I'd still say the average WP hovers around 10, so with 28 you're dishing out about triple of what other heroes do (without any of those additional multipliers you can afford), so those upgrades were not a waste. I know it wasn't a Scuba sob story, I don't think you'd do one of those. I think we SHOULD raise complaints and suggestions for the game, I just personally don't see this one as a problem like you do, but that doesn't mean I think you should stop raising points!

But anyways, probably nothing is going to change, which sucks, because while it doesn't warrant any change, I do have something useless which I did spend a lot (of time) on. It's like carefully writing an essay, and someone else gets the same grade with something they did in five minutes. You'd like more recognition, but it doesn't matter. That other person did it smarter. :wink:

While I don't 100% see the issue Scuba does, I think it DOES have merit. As heroes have upped their levels, WP has not- or at least not at the same rate. I think we forget that. The average for MOST heroes of level 20, when WP is concerned, is actually 10-14ish, even though it seems WP would be similar to their level. So I guess in some regards, Scuba is right. If you want to give someone levels 20-25 a WP upgrade in a drop, but not go overboard, the WP should be around maybe 12-16, not higher than that. It IS something to think about, and I DO think that we've as a whole been giving out too many powerful drops. Scuba, I thought you were wrong, and I don't think it's as bad as you phrased it at first, but I also think I just misread what you said a bit, and I DO agree with you.

I meant at real cost. not the cost of the last upgrade.

If it was sold at the shop, that's as much as it would cost. A WP:28 weapon would cost 280 gp. and sell to the shop for 140 gp. :wink:

Although I agree that high level weapons/shields/artefacts shouldn't be thrown about like candy, I don't really see the problem with paying for upgrades, ESPECIALLY for a rogue. You chose the class for the gold benefits and have leveraged those benefits to your advantage with both upgrades and consumables.

I agree, the best way to sort out this problem is by having enemies not drop rediculously high WP weapons. For the current level of heroes, WP:16 is the absolute max I would expect as a drop, or else there is little point in anyone upgrading anything. It's a little difficult for people like me, however, as I really want to keep my plaything as my main weapon for as long as possible despite the lack of a real income and super-strong weapons become all the more common.
