Brickdoctor Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I've never really liked dropping high-WP weapons. Maybe it's just because my quests are usually long and their big reward usually comes in XP, not loot, but I prefer to drop low-WP weapons with special abilities, and then give the players Gold and they can upgrade the weapon if they want to. Of my recent drops, the Staff of the Cultist Battlemage was WP: 8, the Sword of the Elven Blademaster and Sword of Ancestral Hatred were WP: 5, and the Greatsword of Lion Nobles/Leojagd was effectively WP: 10 since it could only be used every other Round. Rogues are supposed to get lots of Gold, and they can use all that Gold in order to get really high WP, and that's all part of the balance of the original base class which is decidedly unimpressive in most other areas. Rogues don't have Defense like Knights, they aren't as effective from range like Rangers, they don't get Damage multipliers like Mages and Barbarians, and they can't heal like Clerics. Their strength is in getting Gold and using that to buy stuff, WP upgrades included. I agree with Scuba; I think it's kind of unfair to the Rogues to drop high-WP weapons that other classes can get their hands on, because the high-WP of Rogues' weapons is a part of the ability that is the Rogues' major perk. (And by the way, it's not impossible for other classes to upgrade to high WP. Aside from Mystic Knights, some of us have had the Gold and tems to take our weapons to high levels, and have just upgraded something else instead. ) Quote
JimBee Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Not miffed at all. I was just wondering how they came about. I can't seem to find them. What quest were they dropped in? Flips is correct, they were dropped in Quest 30. I can't get the description right now since I'm on a mobile device, but yes, they're limited to Knights and they're advanced classes. The whole point of the, is to give a big attack boost to knight classes at the cost of their shields. Quote

What enemy had it, what battle it dropped in, etc Twin Boradswords (WP:20, the user can attack two enemies in the same turn, but negates the use of a shield. Suitable to Knights and their Advanced Classes only) Quote
Sandy Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Since everyone is so bothered by the high WP of the Conspirator, I'm going to show how easily the problem is solved. *snaps fingers* There, it's WP:15 now. QM powers rule! Quote

Sandy Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Not the best solution, if you ask me. Come on, decide what you want! First you complain how the weapon is too powerful that it undermines your hard-earned upgrades, but now that I decrease the WP, you're not satisfied with that either. As for your suggestion about weapon merging, I'm not going to implement it. There's no point in having weapons with different categories and different effects if people would be able to just roll them all into one. Roleplaying games are about making choices, after all. You can strive to become all-powerful for all you want, but I'm certainly not going to make it easier for you. Quote
PsyKater Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I'll probably wind up changing my avatar in a bit, but for now since I'm away from my bricks it'll have to stay as good old Robotnik. Nooooo! Karie is one of my favorite characters! And I mean optical as well. Sexy! Quote
Kintobor Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) Sorry, I mean my avatar. I'm going to change it from Robotnik to some other Robotnik or something, I don't know yet. I was considering changing it to the Box Ghost from Danny Phantom just for you 61ers, but alas, that never came to fruition. And its good to see that people find Karie attractive. It's not what I was going for, but hey, being sexy's a bonus when it comes to persuading men in RPGs. That and you usually get a smaller hit box. Edited March 14, 2013 by Kintobor Quote

I would not want other people be worse of because of my complaints. Since the weapon would go to Eric, I don't think it should be lowered because of my complaining. Somehow, being able to attack three times in a row with a possible x8 multiplayer makes it all better. Quote

It wasn't just you, several others complained as well. The weapon was overpowered, I admit, especially since it was darkness-elemental by default. Quote

Kintobor Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Just remember that I just so happen to be a QM as well. "And as the party walks into the forest a tree falls over and crushes Sylph Solanum, turning him into a paste-like substance akin to strawberry jam. You are dead. You are deader than dead. You are now a splotch on the ground, and when people go by that spot they chuckle to themselves and say: "This is where that druid got crushed by a tree. Oh, the irony!"" Quote
Flipz Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Just remember that I just so happen to be a QM as well. Oh god it's going to be another Capt. JohnPaul vs. Sorrow cross-Quest QM war, isn't it? Quote

Sylph isn't currently on his Quest. (But I jest, I'm not going to make any of the NPCs react differently than they already would have to her just because she's now "Sexy." Much.) ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited March 14, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote

Prepare for me to find the most efficient way to vanquish your monsters before they even stand a chance. That's more warning than Endgame got. JimBee Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 To the heroes in quest 58, Brickdoctor mentioned this, but I think it actually would be beneficial to give Hestia a gem and/or weapon. Spell casting can give her range, but I think she needs a weapon to do that as well. Speaking of which, for Ranger/Mage hybrids and Rogue/Mage hybrids, so Sorcerers, Evokers, and Prohphets, does a spell cast through a throwing weapon cause that weapon to be thrown? Quote

I wouldn't think so, you can cast long range spells through a close range weapon without a problem, but I haven't seen it happen before, so I'm not sure. I think there was a point in Quest 38, though... Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 That's not true... There are more, more drops of 15+ as well. But anyways, probably nothing is going to change, which sucks, because while it doesn't warrant any change, I do have something useless which I did spend a lot (of time) on. It's like carefully writing an essay, and someone else gets the same grade with something they did in five minutes. You'd like more recognition, but it doesn't matter. That other person did it smarter. Weapons are one of the major drops in RPG games, and I think a boss battle that drops a high level weapon is entirely legitamite. However I agree with Scuba that it makes all of his pouring gold into another weapon pretty obsolete. However this happens on a smaller scale as well. As a ranger, I have to save up for my equipment, but when something like a pair of winged sandels just shows up in an enemy drop, well then I just wasted saving up my money for something that I could just defeat an enemy for. You could spend your entire gaming career waiting for that perfect drop and refusing to upgrade anything else, or you can choose the certainty of having excellent equipment with you when you want it. It's a trade off. Skrall: Aside from missing his characteristic Han Solo-esque holstered crossbow, I like him. Thanks MDM! Quote
