CMP Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I'm all for opponents as unpredictable as Wren, but mechanically we kinda need to know what's going on. There's a lot of ways this could be interpreted and if we don't understand how it works we're in serious trouble. Quote

There's a lot of ways this could be interpreted and if we don't understand how it works we're in serious trouble. I think that's the point. You could try attacking Wren with a Healing Staff...won't cause too much harm either way. Thought: I wonder if it's just a way to screw up AoE SHIELD rolls? I.E. Wren is part of the party, so she's safe from being attacked (even by the rest of the party) due to Guardian Angel, but if Hoke rolls a Spellspin against the enemy Chaos Beasts, he'd take out Nyx as well. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 What the... Seriously, Zepher? I finally roll Angel and now what are we supposed to do? I get that you want some chaotic stuff going on but this pretty much negates a round. I agree with CMP, we shouldn't have to guess game mechanics. At least tell us if she's protected by the angel and if we can attack her if not. Will Wren follow orders? Can she attack herself? Quote
Flipz Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) So if Arthur is dead., do you have a new character just in case? I wouldn't count Arthur as dead just yet--there's always the chance the party will have to use a Phoenix Incense to revive fallen party members, and if that happens Arthur will be back up and ready to fight his enemy...but I'm not sure if I see that happening. If Arthur ends up dead, I may just have to focus on QMing for a while, since I have no plans for a new character. I agree with CMP, we shouldn't have to guess game mechanics. At least tell us if she's protected by the angel and if we can attack her if not. From the description of Guardian Angel and how it's worked in the past (and the way Zepher thinks), it prevents all damage and effects to allies (save for existing poison and poison-like effect damage). I'm pretty sure Wren can't be harmed this round, unfortunately. See above for my idea of how it works. Edited March 15, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Zepher Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) That's right. If you don't get what's going on, you'll be in serious trouble. Luckily, you can't be harmed this round. And you have about twenty moves to figure out what's going on. So experiment. It should take maybe six of your moves tops, potentially as low as two, and then you'll know for the rest of the battle. And you can't be harmed this round... so, really, you got this at the best time possible. EDIT: I take that back. It will take you ONE move to figure out what's going on. You guys are pretty smart. Don't worry so much and enjoy the game. Figure out the new game mechanic. Edited March 15, 2013 by Zepher Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I'm just sour because we were all going to bash Wren this round... Oh, well. Maybe we should just let her take out the beast of life instead. Quote
Scorpiox Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I suggest that Wren attacks one of the beasts this round, and if the effect lasts longer than that, put her up to absorb free hits and let Nyx attack her. Quote
Pandora Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Does Nyx get an action, are we trying to kill her, can we still attack Wren? Please don't kill me. From my perspective, Nyx is still Nyx, and is still an ally to the other heroes, just standing on a different side. Quote
PsyKater Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Please don't kill me. From my perspective, Nyx is still Nyx, and is still an ally to the other heroes, just standing on a different side. I'd play it the same. I have another idea how Zeph could see this. Nyx and Wren switched bodys. So when Pandora says that Nyx attacks Choas Beast xy, then "Wren" will do it. So they just switched the appearance (and specials, stats etc). Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Okay, UsernameMDM, Hoke attempting to undress Wren is more than a little creepy. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Okay, UsernameMDM, Hoke attempting to undress Wren is more than a little creepy. Hey, if it works, then she loses SP and the party gains SP. It's just like switching equipment. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 It's actually a good tactic, creepy, but potentially effective. Everyone but Cronk is grown up anyway. Or, you know, it might piss her off and disintegrate Hoke at the spot. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Not with the Guardian Angel. Somehow I don't think she'd forget after one round. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Somehow I don't think she'd forget after one round. Well, since she can't attack Hoke directly, I think she will just have to get over it somehow. So if Wren spits out a Chaos Beast this round, does it stay on our side? Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Everyone but Cronk is grown up anyway. Hey, Cronk is grown up. Just 'cause he talks simple doesn't mean he isn't all complicated. Quote

Kintobor Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Sarge Picks up some of the pictures of Lindsey and asks sir brickington: "Let's set a trap. We'll need your spare sword, and some string, but that should be able to decapitate anyone who enters. Then' we leave and go to this Sullivan's ship." Well this got incredibly violent incredibly quickly. For a guy who comes off as no less than a really troubled peeping tom, you guys really seem to want to murder this guy in the most violent means necessary. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Can we PLEASE get an explanation on how Wren works in our party? Does she follow orders like the other NPCs? Will she stay in the party past this round? Does she drop a Grand Zoot's plaything? Does she like grilled cheese sandwiches? Important questions need important answers!!! Quote
CMP Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Important questions need important answers!!! Yes, I want to strategize, not guess how a battle even works. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Yes, I want to strategize, not guess how a battle even works. Yup. It's chaotic enough that our weapons were switch, that Wren gains levels and HP and now she is in our party. At least explain how it works. Quote
Zepher Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Figure it out. I can promise you that it will be consistent after this. So use this round to discover how it works, and after that every time it returns, it will be the same, and you'll know what to do. Quote
