PsyKater Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Eh, how could Arthur get a Hit when he was KO'd just before? >Arthur v. Master Chaos Beast - Hit (29-5=24, -1 ether) Quote
The Legonater Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) Speaking of tvtropes, the place where hours magically disappear. I would love to see a complete list of tropes for characters, not going to do it for Guts, way too much work, but would be pretty cool. I've thought of creating a Heroica TVTropes page, but it would take a lot of effort. Edited March 23, 2013 by The Legonater Quote

K-Nut Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Shouldn't I have dealt 92 damage to the Sylph? My understanding with the gloves (and it may be wrong) is that when you cast a spell against a target weak to the element, you get a +10 power increase instead of a +5. The Sylph was weak to wind, therefore should my power have been 46 since it was weak to the element? I don't think so. I think that's just to ensure I put the +5 in before doing the elemental multiplier, which would make the bonus +10. I could be wrong, it's a bit vague, but I figure this way is more likely. Hey, Sandy. Could we get some clarification on this? CallMePie's method does make sense to me, but I don't understand why the doubled if target is weak to the element would be in the description if it were. Quote

CallMePie's method does make sense to me, but I don't understand why the doubled if target is weak to the element would be in the description if it were. It has been clarified before; it's worded that way specifically so that QMs remember to add the power before elemental modifiers, instead of after. (If I recall correctly, bonuses to WP are, naturally, added before elemental modifiers, but most bonuses to Power are not. Correct me if I'm wrong, though. ) Also, wow Endgame. And here I thought my characters had screwed-up backstories. Quote

Endgame Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Holy text glut, Batman - I didn't expect it to be that long! But, to hear my take on how The Regret coincides with Prometheus's story: >Prometheus was "punished" for giving stealing the knowledge from man. >He was cast to the bowels of the Earth >...Had his soul ripped to shreds instead of being pecked by a bird. Loose, but it fits. Quote

Endgame Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Yep, hes gone mad, folks. You're not going to try and sell The Regret's soul again, are you? That'd be bad. For you. Quote

Zepher Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Because I messed up and didn't count the hits, so they sort of all landed hits . That round will remain a little funky. I'll run this round once you have a more concrete plan. Quote
Zepher Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Also, for damage calculations (and I thought we added this to the Q&A, but apparently not): (((WP*multipliers)+[Level+Power Additions])*Elemental Modifiers*Encouraged/Weakened/Row/etc)=Damage dealt Quote
LordoftheNoobs Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Is it ok if I change my character's class from Mage to Cleric? I noticed the shortage of clerics going around, and I figured it wouldn't matter if I changed Grimwald's class since he hasn't been on any quests yet, but I thought I should check here first. And then, y'know, I could change his inventory to include the items a cleric starts with, plus the things he bought at the market. Edited March 24, 2013 by LordoftheNoobs Quote

(Well, actually, I do, I'm just holding in my rage until a.) it abates enough for me to engage in polite discussion about it, and b.) the post-Quest analysis. ) I don't think we were intended to beat Wren, I think we were just supposed to waste all of our consumables on an impossible fight. Sort of like the Chaos Beasts at the end of Drakencourt. Is that an accurate assessment of your design intention, Zeph? Quote

I kind of think we might have doomed ourselves from the start by not targeting Wren and focusing on the Beasts. We basically let her gain power while we focused on her mooks. Also, we were coming close to totally wiping out Wren before Atramor rolled Special Mirror. That was what killed us. EDIT: I'm really off my game today. I don't think I've made this many errors since before I got Chrome. Edited March 24, 2013 by The Legonater Quote

She started out at level 61 and has this: Passive Special II: Chaotic Power – Wren will be two of the three (Encouraged, Lucky, or Hastened) every round. [Round Five: Encouraged & Lucky] Wren being either Lucky or Encouraged has really messed us up. I really think to balance that out and truly be chaotic, she should have been able to be the opposite of those effects (Weakened, Unlucky and Slowed). I am not sure how Zepher set it up, but I think Wren's specials all should have been 50/50 positive or negative for her and her party to fit the whole chaotic theme, Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Plan and battle order incoming. Sorry, I've been busy today. It's not any single piece of Wren that's been so tough but all of it together. If either the random buffs or the passive specials or the random party switching weren't there, we'd have won this by now. I know the battle was intended to be tough. We've fought really hard, I think, and been the victim of some lousy dice a few rounds. I think we've done our best for the most part. Quote

[Round Five: Encouraged & Lucky] Yes, but now she's level 80 and we have 8 chaos beasts bearing down on us. I think my point stands. I suppose I'm just a bit put out that in one dice roll we basically went from sound victory to... well, chaos. That's the nature of RPGs, though, I shouldn't complain. Quote

Even when NOT encouraged, she's a one-hit kill for almost EVERYONE. Quote
The Legonater Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 You have a weird definition of sound victory. We started the round with everyone at a decent health, which could have been fixed by a few key healings. Wren was brought down to her current health before Atramor rolled Special Mirror. Hypothetically, if Atramor hadn't rolled Special Mirror and we suffered no major setbacks, we could have taken down Wren in one or two rounds with no losses. Quote
