Scubacarrot Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 En Sabah Nur is the worst. "Do you know of a hero named Guts? Last I remember, he was interested in this shard that I have. I have no use for it. If you see him, deliver it to him." Sarick handed over a Mythril Shard and 10 gold as a delivery fee. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Both out of curiosity and because of possible planning for more flexibility in the future, would there be any interest in buying my Mythril Shield for around 1500 or 1400 Gold? (a savings of 25% and 30%, respectively) Quote

The Legonater Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I'd buy it. I desperately need SP. Besides, pocket change. Quote
Flipz Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I'd buy it. I desperately need SP. Besides, pocket change. Going Black Knight, are we? I'm such an idiot. We could have given Hoke's shield to Hans while Hoke was using the Twin Broadswords! Quote
The Legonater Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Going Black Knight, are we? That's right, it can only be used by knights, can't it? Well, there go my min-maxing dreams. Quote

Rumble Strike Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I realise the discussion was a couple of pages back, but I am fairly sure that Tarn has had Smelling Salts stored in his axe's hollow blade. Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I realise the discussion was a couple of pages back, but I am fairly sure that Tarn has had Smelling Salts stored in his axe's hollow blade. While it's Sandy's final ruling, I created the hollow blades with the intention to hold any type of restoritive consumables (including smelling salts, and by extension ether cores, health cores, and phoenix essences). Flipz Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Black Knights can use shields. Docken is a Warden and uses a shield because it's a knight/ranger hybrid class. I think he was just realizing that none of the Knight variants can make Gold. (Or at least, that how I understand it...) Quote
The Legonater Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Black Knights can use shields. Docken is a Warden and uses a shield because it's a knight/ranger hybrid class. Sure, but I don't want to switch to Black Knight right now. No proper ranged weapons for the Black Knight. I think he was just realizing that none of the Knight variants can make Gold. (Or at least, that how I understand it...) That too. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Well that kind of stinks. I want the rep to get to Dragoon, but if it's not guaranteed... Not guaranteed, but as my outline is right now (the quest is still in the concept stage), the opportunity will be obvious. It's more of a case of whether or not the party wants to do what has to be done to get the reputation than whether or not they can find the opportunity to get it. Quote
Palathadric Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Why? Witch doesn't gain Gold on a SHIELD... Serious? I thought when Sandy strengthened the Witch class he gave them the ability to earn gold on the shield roll. Or was everyone just talking about it so determinedly that I was convinced. Quote

TheBoyWonder Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Legonater, you know you can't actually have that mythrill shard? It weren't exactly his to sell. He got given it by Sarick to give to Guts. Quote
Flare Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I loved setting up this boss battle. I think this might be my first battle to use passive specials Quote
Flipz Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Obelix was asking me for advice on Advanced Classes for him, and when I replied, he suggested I post my advice to him here: Actually, with that scepter of yours, you'd make a decent Sage (especially the chance for Blessed when healing allies), but that would make the dagger less useful to you (since you wouldn't be able to attack physically with it, meaning its double damage to Vermin would become moot). If you do go Sage, Spellbound Gloves are a must, as are Robes of the Archmagi (since Sealed will end you). Well, here's the thing about Mystic Knight: you'll need a good shield if you want to use the class well, and you'll want to invest in a LOT of Grand Tonics and Ether Cores. If you go MK, you'll want Counterstrike Gloves and Heavy Armor (or if you can negotiate a trade with someone currently in Quest 48 for an Emerald Hood, that'd be a good idea for ANY class), and you'd do well upgrading your Scepter a bit and then trading it to K-Nut in exchange for his Twin Sai. (At that point, it would be beneficial to invest in a few Smelling Salts and some Deadly Venom--or better yet a Scroll of Poisoning--so you can spread around poisons easily.) It's an expensive class to maintain, but you'll be able to live a lot longer. IMPORTANT: do NOT spend money on shield upgrades beyond your initial investment (Quarryman has a SP:8 shield from Quest 50, you might be able to buy it from Namyrra when she's back in the Hall). If you were going Dragoon, I'd recommend it, but since you plan to go Necromancer, it'd just be a waste of Gold; let Enchant buff it (this should cover your first few Enchants) so you can live longer, and if you upgrade anything let it be the Scepter (so you can trade it away to K-Nut). Sorcerer, on the other hand, will require more creative builds. Your Cloak is an excellent start for Sorcerer, as it means you can decide ahead of time whether or not you want to use a Nostrum (as a general rule, Nostrum is not profitable unless the combined Level of all enemies is 100 or more). Robes of the Archmagi are a good choice for a starting Artifact, but really as a Sorcerer you need to look for items that give you new abilities: for example, my Healing Staff (which gives me a healing ability that costs no Ether or Gold), my Lens (which lets me use Scrolls at the same time I attack), my Cloak of Deception (which gives me a chance to dodge Free Hits), my Staff of the Cultist Battlemage (which gives me a chance to keep the Quest going in dire situations without having to Flee outright), or my Scrolls (which give me a way to inflict many Statuses to the enemy). As a Sorcerer, you'll be making good money, but very little of it will go to weapon upgrades; most of it will go to new gear obtained in trades. A Broomstick will be very useful if/when you finally have to give up the Robes of the Archmagi in favor of other artifacts, you may want to consider buying a WP:5 broomstick from Anwyl and making that your main weapon. When buying new weapons, make sure they will be compatible with Necromancer. It's hard to recommend builds for Sorcerer, simply because the builds for the class really are dependent on what artifacts and abilities you have at your disposal. The only consistent rule for Sorcerer is this: if you have a choice for permanent ability score boosts, get SP if it is offered, but if not, Health is a better option than Power or Ether; Sorcerers (and, later, Necromancers) are VERY squishy. Looking ahead to Necromancer, Broomsticks will be your best options for weapons. Since you will be able to revive fallen allies, invest in more Ether-restoring items and buy a Phoenix Essence or two and lend them to allies in the event that you go down. Robes of the Archmagi are VITAL for Necromancers, and with Spellbound Gloves you will be packing on the pain. Using Nostrum late in the battle is a good idea, since without at least one undead ally you'll only be dealing damage equal to your level. If you went Sorcerer, your special weapons and artifacts may come in handy, but for the most part you'll be dealing with ordinary Mage strategies of choosing the right elemental gem. Quote
