Brickdoctor Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 How the heck do you get 'Summoner?' I don't even think that's a word... About ten seconds on Google tells me that Summoner is both a D&D class and a Final Fantasy class. Quote
CMP Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 About ten seconds on Google tells me that Summoner is both a D&D class and a Final Fantasy class. Okay...what the heck would we be summoning? Sorry, I just don't see that happening is all... Quote
swils Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Okay...what the heck would we be summoning? Sorry, I just don't see that happening is all... Ooh, how about Enchanter (Or snakecharmer. Rangers are friends of nature, right? )! On a "3", takes control of target for that turn and the next, dealing its power to a different enemy on the first turn, and adding its power to the Enchanters if the Enchanter lands a successful hit on the second turn! Chromeknight Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Paladin, Summoner and Mercenary?? There already is an order of paladins in Eubric. Followers of Ennon. I think that the knight/cleric will not be called a paladin. Quote
swils Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 There already is an order of paladins in Eubric. Followers of Ennon. I think that the knight/cleric will not be called a paladin. There's also a bunch of bear-men that adhere to the same archetypes as all the adventurers currently do. Does that mean we can't be these classes, because a group of NPCs are using them as well? Heh Quote
CMP Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Fenimor's now my top 5 favorite characters. Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Okay...what the heck would we be summoning? Sorry, I just don't see that happening is all... Summoning could be like summoning out animals to aid you in battle. Rangers are very nature-oriented and summoning is a magical thing so it could work. Quote
Chromeknight Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) Fenimor's now my top 5 favorite characters. Yup. Unfortunately Jorgevorg is new and can't use the messaging system yet.So.... To: Jorgevorg. Well played sir! Where did you get your fish font? Thanks again for making the game fun, I hope we get to go questing together! Edited November 9, 2011 by Chromeknight Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I think some of the enw signups are going above and beyond with their roleplay. For Quest#13 I might just have to take a whole boatload of level 1s at this rate Quote
Jebediahs Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I'm not sure if this has been commented on yet, but I am thoroughly enjoying your enemies stats Jebediahs. They all seem quite fitting, I wish I had been more creative in my battles, but we all learn something. Thanks. They're meant to distract from my lack of MOCs. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Whilst we are on the subject, I love the comments your enemies make in the battles too, Jebadiahs. They both add character story to enemies and react to what the heroes say. Quote
Sandy Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Okay, there's been a lot of discussion in this topic on the last 24 hours, so I'll try my best to answer all the questions. 1) HASTENED-EFFECT It is up to the player and the party leader to decide whether the two turns gained from the hastened-effect are played back-to-back or separately from each other. Both options are fine. 2) ARTEFACTS Since the artefacts are getting more common, I wish a certain extent of realism from those carrying several artefacts. You should equip ONE headgear, ONE cape, ONE pair of shoes (if there's going to be those), ONE pair of gloves etc. Stacking hats on top of each other isn't really playing it fair. Just like you can only equip one weapon at a time, you can only equip one artefact of the same type at a time. But since I want to keep this game simple enough, and there's always going to be artefacts that make an exception to any type of "bodypart slot system" I'd invent (such as the Loaded Die), I'll leave this issue to the player's discretion. 3) SUMMONING As a renown Final Fantasy -fan, I'm very familiar with the concept of summoning spirits to aid in the battle, and those thinking that the Ranger/Mage advanced class has something to do with summoning are actually very correct indeed. And now a personal message to our newest player, Jorgevorg, to whom I can't PM yet: Thanks for participating in my humble little game! Your character is really awesome, and I love reading your posts in the Heroica Hall. They show promise that you'll be a great player once you get into the quests. However, I do have one thing I'd like to note, and it has to do with this post of yours: Ogregummi - [o gre `gah mee], n. - One of the more obscure, traditional Martial Arts practiced by the Ji Pei, rumored to have been originally created during a particularly irritating Orcish Horde invasion of Ji Pei Imperial City of Qualm. This martial discipline commonly involves sudden positioning, bending and arrangement of the notoriously slow green-skins in a manner simultaneously incapacitating and aesthetically pleasing. It's iconic and most visually descriptive of forms, "The Fist of the Folded Foul", involves a significant reduction in overall size of the opponent as well as the foe's consequent arrangement into a form closely resembling that of a majestic Draidan Whooping Crane. You are free to expand the world of the game to your liking, but please do not use the existing factions like this. The reason for that is you've completely misunderstood what the Ji Pei are even about. They are not a race or a nation, they are one family that currently resides in Eubric. They already have a country of origin and a background story invented by me, and what you wrote above is in direct conflict with my plans for the family. So please change Ji Pei out of that text and make up a faction of your own. That's all I'm asking. And if you're interested in learning more about the Ji Pei, read this post in the Library topic. They will also be featured in a number of future quests, so that's something to look forward to. Quote

What if I were to decide that I had lost my attachment to Thormanil, and wanted to reroll as a Two-Headed Ogre? Ooh, or a Were-hydra? Then could I equip multiple hats? 3) SUMMONINGAs a renown Final Fantasy -fan, I'm very familiar with the concept of summoning spirits to aid in the battle, and those thinking that the Ranger/Mage advanced class has something to do with summoning are actually very correct indeed. Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Yay! My prediction was right! Sorry CallmePie... Quote
The Legonater Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Okay...what the heck would we be summoning? Sorry, I just don't see that happening is all... Obviously we'd be summoning a bigger fish*. *Useful for solving food crisis, assisanting enemies, breaking people out of jail and stopping laundry fleets. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Obviously we'd be summoning a bigger fish*. I was going to go for Warden, but this summoning business sounds interesting. Quote
Chromeknight Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 "Greetings, sir knight. We are traveling merchants, and we've come to see if you and your companions would like to buy anything." "I see. Who, exactly, gave you permission to enter this camp?" "You, go check on the guards at the entrance." "There's no point. The guards at the entrance are dead. When we were walking down Eubric Highway, we were attacked by a band of ruffians. They took most of our wares and almost killed us, but we were able to get away and hide in the bushes near your campsite here. The ruffians entered your camp a short while later and killed the guards at the entrance. They then proceeded to loot your supply tent and the servants' tent. Please help us, the ruffians are still looking for us!" "You must give me the name of whoever it is that makes your armor - life-threatening experiences not half an hour ago, and you look perfectly well!" "As a matter of fact, I'm also a cleric. But, I'm a cleric with a very unique kind of power. Instead of actually healing my target's wounds, my power engulfs the target and slowly erases time for it. That's why our armor looks perfectly well; I erased a bit of time to heal all my companions' wounds, and the armor was restored as a by-product." "Sir, I just checked at the entrance. Both guards are down, and one of them has a helmet that looks like it's been bashed in by a giant hammer!" "Well, aren't we lucky! This, ah, traveler-merchant-cleric has the power restore the guards' Health and fix the helmet. Bring the guards in here." "I would love to restore the helmets of your guards, but I unfortunately used up all my ether healing my companions. Erasing time is hard work!" Oh, this is so much fun to watch! Quote
Tamamono Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Oh, this is so much fun to watch! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Oh, this is so much fun to watch! It's twice as much fun to be the QM in the situation. It helps if you read all the Lion Captain's lines aloud as if he were Captain von Trapp during the 'We were picking blue strawberries!' scene in The Sound of Music. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 That was awesome, Tammo. I almost thought it was going to work. Quote

legobodgers Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 It is just hilarious to watch, I was in stitches while I was reading it. This is better than Swills 'he's heavily sedated' speech. Quote
