Endgame Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 (edited) good old video game boss battle. Wait a sec, are you already forgetting - the last battle was a boss fight?! In terms of bosses >Rhodus (Got angry 2/3s through) >Aquos (Got angry 2/3s through) >Emperor Eidolon (Got angry about 3/4s through, entered a free-fall battle phase) >The Regret/The Regret's Soul And now, for the grand finale (when I stop dreading the moment where I have to write it up): >The Perfect Regret I hope nobody expected The Regret to be the true final boss and the source of all proggs when he was met in the Murkwood... Bricksandparts Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I'm saying these boss-fights are like they are in many video games. There's often more than 1 boss fight. Quote

LordoftheNoobs Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Next up on Quest 48, the Regrets twin sister! Followed by their pet eldeitch abomination! XD Quote
Endgame Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 No, this is the end- I am getting a bit tired of writing these battles myself. I've been drafting this one for almost an hour and it isn't even done. Oddly, running battles is incredibly cathartic... Quote
Flare Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Next up on Quest 48, the Regrets twin sister! Followed by their pet eldeitch abomination! XD And don't forget Lady Wren's brother-in-law and Reno Bonaparte's clone! Quote
Endgame Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 (edited) I couldn't make a harder battle if I tried. Okay, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration... but this is it, 48ers! 5.5 months of questing has led to this final clash! I may be controlling the boss monster from the sides... but I'm rooting for you nonetheless, heroes. End this, once and for all! Edited April 6, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I'd argue at the moment, Combrys is better than the scissors. Ok then. Lifestealer is the best. Quote
The Legonater Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Well, Endgame, I think that qualifies as a most definitely true final boss. Though to be honest, Quest 48 probably hits just about every boss trope that ever existed. Quote
Endgame Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Endgame doesn't pull any punches when it comes to boss fights. Quote
Flipz Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 His username IS Endgame... By that logic, the Heroes should all be stuck in garbage bins or else partially paralyzed and confined to a chair or else the aging servant of the above. And nobody can leave the room and nothing anyone says makes any real sense. And the whole thing would be written by Samuel Beckett. Quote
Endgame Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Are you implying I'm not sufficiently insane currently? Quote

Sandy Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 How can you tell I have spare time on my hands? It's when I come up with new game mechanics! Well, it's just a new effect this time: Reinforced – The target’s SP is doubled for the duration of one battle. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 *Cracks knuckles* Lovely. A few Questions about Minstrel (my favorite prestige class ) before I start destroying your carefully-thought-through enemies. Do 'Ballad of Bravery,' 'Rapid March,' and 'Lucky Chant' stack with Encouraged, Hastened, and Lucky? It would seem that way from the wording of the specials. (Ie: It says everything but encouraged, hastened, and lucky.) Does this make me the first player to play a Minstrel? ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Endgame Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 ...I honestly don't know, but I'm guessing you aren't allowed a x4 multiplier on everything. There is a very good reason I crippled Aquos's Ether total. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Well, it's just a new effect this time: Reinforced – The target’s SP is doubled for the duration of one battle. Isn't there a scroll that does something similar? Either way, make a consumable that grants Reinforced so I can sell my soul to buy a lifetime's supply. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 ...And, in the process, make yourself permanently fragile. I have armor that prevents me from becoming Fragile. Quote

Sounds like I have to make some rewording to the expert job rules... Quote
Endgame Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Phew... Worried I had structured my battle wrong and it became easy because of it. Quote

Scorpiox Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Against his better judgement, Arthur passes the old man 70 Gold. "Use it well," he says simply. Wow, are you aware that you just fed En Sabeh Nur a load of gold? Quote
