Zepher Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Well, you didn't have SP. Most quests don't have that many enemies immune to assassination. I'd say in a common Zepher battle, maybe 20% of the enemies have immunity to assassination (note: common) and even so, I think I'm actually more likely to include it than most QMs. Being able to clear away 80% of a battle is pretty good. Go check out Quest 39, you'll see Hybros cut through enemies... or hell, even Quest 50, he's got close to if not THE most Star Coins. Quote
The Legonater Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Speaking of coins, the amount of gold assassins make can pretty much solve the issue of assassins being weak. It gets pretty easy to pay for an upgrades. Quote

Flipz Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Wow, I just realized how useful the Hide of the bleeding would be to an Assassin. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Imagine Galen as an Assassin, wearing the Hide of the Bleeding and his Rubber Band while wielding Hybros' Banana Bladerang... Or heck, the Hide he's got now would work perfectly well at transforming him into a monster with that Bladerang... Well, you didn't have SP. Even so, instakill isn't quite the same thing (in my mind) as landing a solid hit. In my headcanon, if an Assassin and a Raider (for example) were both dispatched by a gang to kill members of a rival gang, the Assassin might rack up more kills in total, but the Raider's kills would leave more of a message. Speaking of coins, the amount of gold assassins make can pretty much solve the issue of assassins being weak. It gets pretty easy to pay for an upgrades. Oh, yes, Assassins CAN afford to create monstrously powerful weapons, but really, they don't NEED to; that's what Assassination is for. As Zepher pointed out, in a normal situation, they can get on just fine without Power; it's only against instakill-immune enemies that Power really comes into play for them. Also, don't forget that Assassins' WP is useless on a SHIELD (though Effects are a very good thing to have in that case). Quote
Sandy Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 Did anyone ever find out who killed Isabeau Carpenter from quest 10? I have read through the other quests in that story arch but didn't see anything. The true culprit was never found, and it is unlikely that he ever will be. That quest wasn't actually a "whodunnit", but a portrayal of the blatant inequality and oppression in Eubric. Quote
Chromeknight Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 There are a few different types of classes in Heroica, and in RPGs in general--while Offensive, Healing, and Support are decent broad categories, there are more specific subdivisions (and areas where those lines are blurred). First, within Offensive, are the "Damage Per Round" characters. Hunters, Raiders, Mystic Knights, Battle Mages, Shamans, and Evokers are the major DPS players Healing is healing is healing; Clerics are clerics... Lastly, we have Support... In addition, anyone who owns scrolls (particularly multiple ones) will be a Support character. So Nerwen is all three as she stands. Is it better to specialize in one or maintain flexibility? Quote

Flare Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I have a question about Beast Warrior - do they favor types of enemies? Because the Hunter's Quiver is suitable for them, but I found no mention of favoring types in the Beast Warrior's description. Quote

Pyrovisionary Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Speaking of offensive, defensive and support, and with level 15 looming up on me, I'm not sure which class to go for. I'm thinking either witch, black knight or raider. f I got hold of counter strike gloves I might be the greatest free hit absorber the world has ever seen! I could Aoe Poison, or get loads of gold. At the moment, anything I earn is doubled right now. (I love you demonic scissors!) a shield roll gets me (3x17+13=96x2=192+96=288) 288 gold from the front row and 144 from the back at the moment Edited April 10, 2013 by Skyrimguy Quote

So maybe counterstrike gloves and 100 gold for the sticky gloves Quote

Endgame Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Uh, Flare, I have to wonder why there is suddenly a surprise battle that only I'm in that removes all of my positive effects and has more then 1500 of my gold staked on it... Quote

Endgame Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Side-quest? Revenge? No, seriously, the greatest consequence of failing my battles is... not getting to see the rest of the quest's battles. (And the story I've spent hours upon hours drafting up. ) This isn't proportionate in the slightest. Quote

Rumble Strike Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Flipz, I'm guessing you'd put Bezerker in the Support class? Use of SP makes for a passable Tank, whilst War Cry buffs the party. I guess my issue with it personally is that Barbarian is very much an offensive class, and I liked that. Also re: the Isabeau Carpenter thing, I thought that Quest was one of the saddest (in tone) we've had. Quote
