Brickdoctor Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I have to say I don't really like when items tamper the heroes' battle skills, since it'll be really hard for a QM to remember that this specific Barbarian has Aim instead of a Miss. On the other hand, there's soon going to be 15 other classes with individual battle styles to remember, so in the future the QMs should always keep the rules at hand anyway when tallying battle results. But yeah, please avoid changing the battle skills in the future, for the sake of us poor hosts. Sorry. The only other lucky thing I could think of was the Lucky Effect, but that was too poweful for this item. Quote

If it eases your mind at all, once I incorporated the Chunk into a weapon, I was planning to have it in my inventory as an acronym, with the expanded text containing the effect description. Quote
K-Nut Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Woo Hoo! Althior gets a cameo in Quest 4! The only way I could tell was Finnegan, but still. Quote
Tamamono Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Wow, that was an amazing quest, Doc! Thanks for letting me be a part of it! Quote

I tried to represent the heroes with one ranged, one heavy melee, and one light melee hero. Cronk and Docken were easy choices... admittedly, you only got into the picture because I wanted Finnegan in there. Finnegan is the true hero. Quote

I thought that was Cronk but it's hard to tell since his helmet doesn't quite strike a unique profile. He really seems to get around. Fitting that he's with his first two friends he made at the hall. Great picture, too. Very dramatic. Quote

Scorpiox Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Loving the quest Jeb! The characters are great and it's good fun. I like it when QM put character specific stuff, like Ameli loving Haldor and the Ranger doing more damage against Alexis. Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Quest four was brilliant. I would play in the next one of yours, but I don't want to lose my Improved Relations with Shadeux. Quote

It its place, you would, of course, earn improved reputation with the Hinckwells. It all depends on who you'd rather work for in the future. Quote
CMP Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I have a question Sandy. I think you mentioned some time ago that good reputation with one faction gets you a better chance of getting into a quest associated with the faction. However, you also said (and Brickdoctor's quest description reminded me of it) that you can just as easily switch your faction reputation to another, and that, ultimately, everybody that meets the requirements of a quest has just as much oppourtunity to get into as as anyone else, as in, it's not dependent on the faction. That's good, I'm fine with that. But doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose of having reputation? I don't see how it can be well-implemented into a quest's requirements. Quote

I don't think I ever said that everyone has an equal opportunity to get onto quests regardless of their reputation with the hosting faction, since it was my intention all along that the better reputation you have with a faction, the easier you will get into that faction's quests. I cannot force other QMs to follow this rule, though, although I do wish they would adhere to it. But like I mentioned in the past, there will come a point in this game where the choice of a faction to side with will truly matter. In my plans the entire organization of Heroica will be split up by this plot point, but to what extent and what ensues from this split remains to be seen. Quote

Sandy Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 ATTENTION ALL CLERICS AND QUEST MASTERS! In an attempt to make life a bit harder for my clerical brethren, I've decided to slightly alter their Special Guard skill (like I mentioned earlier). From this point on, it will work like this: SPECIAL GUARD/NO HEALING: The cleric has a 50/50 chance to be protected from any negative effects caused by the opponent’s special skill. Optionally, any attempt of healing fails. So QMs will have to remember to roll the die again if a cleric gets hit by a special skill that inflicts a negative effect, to determine if it connects or not. And the clerics will have to remember to remind the QMs. The rule page has been updated accordingly. Hope everyone's okay with this minor change. Quote
CMP Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Better than a miss. One last question...do you think something akin to the bestiary, for the items, be plausible? It was brought up about keeping track of all of the effects of artifacts and special weapons, and at the rate quests are going, there's going to be at least a hundred before the end of the year. Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I just have this horrible feeling that we'll be fighting each other depending on our reputation with the factions. Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) @VolcanicPanik Some of us are already at odds with each other, at least in character, just because we inhabbit the hall, doesn't mean all the characters are going to be buddy buddy. Zepher Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I really want to go on Quest 17!! Here's hoping! Great Quest all around BrickDoctor, I really want to host again from what I've learned from my own experience and watching you! My only complaint right now is that I have so many people I want to Quest with and I'm afraid I may never get the chance! Quote
Bricksandparts Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Ameli seems to be returning to her old self as she moves closer to Haldor. Who knows what was up her butt! "Ameli Skovgaard...mmmhm. I like the sound of that. How many children should we have? Do you even have a place to live? I want to live in a home built in the Derfelcadarn style either here or in lovely Avalonia. Wherever that is. I just heard it was nice. Do you think father should know about us right away? Well duh, of course he should since we're getting married once we're out of here. You do want to marry me, don't you? I can't wait to see Heroica Hall! You know my little brother here wants to be a hero like you. You're such a good role model for him, Haldor. You're going to be the perfect father one day." So sandy, what would happen if Haldor brought Ameli to Heroica? I just think this whole thing is funny. I'm wondering what will happen if, and probably will, Haldor tells Ameli He loves someone else. Better than a miss. One last question...do you think something akin to the bestiary, for the items, be plausible? It was brought up about keeping track of all of the effects of artifacts and special weapons, and at the rate quests are going, there's going to be at least a hundred before the end of the year. I'd be willing to send the links to all the pictures if you did, maybe even the description. Quote
JimBee Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 On all this talk about items, specifically artifacts, and their effects: Would it be plausible to ask anyone that receives these special items to put their effects in their sig? It would help QMs and other players a lot if they knew the effects of said items. Or, as CMPOD mentioned, a gallery of artifacts... I'd be willing to help with that if you need it, CMP. Quote
