I think Patricia might just be my favourite NPC of all time. So withering! Quest#66 is gonna be heaps of fun, I can tell.

Agreed, though my personal fave will always be Triad (RIP!). Patricia is amazing, though; you can really feel the sort of suppressed despair that keeps her running, and you really have to admire her for keeping on keeping on in spite of all the difficulties she faces. Heroica would definitely be a VERY different world without her.

Something I always wondered is how real are the gods in Eubric? I mean, does it make any sense to say "I'm an athiest."

It's like: "Oops, there's this little angel guy protecting our party, but I don't really believe he exists. Our cleric just prayed and the whole party got healed like that, but man it's all just in my imagination"...or what?

Ether manifestations? Battle hallucinations? Lots of possible explanations.

I know I've said before that Proggs are atheist, but I believe a more correct term is that they simply do not observe any gods.

Is Pretzel an atheist? :look:

The trope you're referencing is Flat Earth Atheist; I think that most of the atheists in Heroica are more along the lines of NayTheists. (I.E. "The gods don't exist, period" as opposed to "so they exist, but I ain't interested in servin' 'em.") The middle ground, of course, is the belief that what most see as "gods" are actually extremely powerful supernatural beings that are nonetheless simply regular beings that managed to acquire such power. I think Wren came close to that sort of belief, actually.

On another note, I just wanted to bring up something Zepher has said before about roleplaying. Writing down your character's interactions with other characters. We all have our preferences, but I have found it more realistic (and less work) to not write it down and play by memory. IMO it's more realistic, because just like in real life, people forget things, and other people. If Hybros has only had brief encounters with other characters, I (and he) are likely to forget them. A stronger relationship means that he's more likely to remember other characters the next time they meet. Just a thought. :classic:

 I share those thoughts.

I agree except if your character is the type to remember people/places/things or something like that. Just because I never remember anything doesn't mean my character has to be that way too, though it does mean i would need to write down anything my character would remember.

I almost agree with that except when it comes to player knowledge versus character knowledge. Just like I might forget if Jeaux has interacted with a particular hero in the past, I could just as likely forget that he did not or has not interacted with a hero. Due to the nature of quests, two heroes can go a long time without ever meeting each other and trying to remember that lack of interactions can be tricky.

As to whether or not my character remembers people, I tend to play Jeaux very much like my own personality. I figure his memory would be about the same as mine, horrible with names but pretty good with random useless tidbits of information, and numbers of course. He is definitely good with numbers.

I simply record general feelings, not specific interactions. That way I remember the flavor, but not the exact facts.

Par example:

Nerwen: Thinks she's a little snappy and hauty, but likes her over-all, doesn't believe in her religious beliefs, but respects, likes her forcefulness, friends

Ellaria: Daughter-Like, Sweet, Trusts her, Protective

See, just general Boomingham feeling towards them to fall back on.

I don't think there's ever been a hero Docken's interacted with which I think Docken would think of as anything other than (Lawful/Chaotic/Neutral) Good or (Lawful/Chaotic) Neutral. Not as a decision to roleplay how he perceives other PCs in-universe, but just as my observation of how I think Docken would consider the other heroes.

That's more notes than I keep for Arthur, actually.

My notes (which are mostly mental anyway) consist of: "How do I feel about them?", "How do I think they feel about me?" (Arthur thought Thothwick hated him until the very end of 53, which explains why he didn't interact with him as much as I had intended him to), a nickname and/or title for the character (i.e. "Master Docken" or "Lord Boomingham", or "The Lady" for Wren for a while, and a LOT of internal nicknames you guys don't get to see), and one or two crystalizing memories of them (i.e. the Calabor fight in Dastan for Isabella, the failed Palace fight for Alexandre, the Training Room for De'kra, the "Beacons Chat" for Cronk and Tensi, etc. etc. etc.).

So, for example, Haldor: respect, hates me, Nord, the argument over Chaos Beasts in Ennon. Or, for Alexandre: buddy, likes me, Alex, the door fight in the Palace.

Sarge is devoted to Mercutio, and I tend not to interact with many people so it's easy to remember.

Erdy

Monk Pretzel

Arthur

Done! I don't roleplay much, And I feel I'm making sarge a bit too..... Tame. Unlike what he was in 47. Or at the begining of 42. But I don't know how to actually go about keeping that so...

I think you're doing a great job with him; he just hasn't had the opportunity to show that side of him as much so far. Bide your time, and when the time is right you can bring that side into fuller focus. Trust me when I say that trying to force specific roleplaying moments is not the way to go. (I will never live down the time I had Arthur torture and eat a Tethusial. )

In other, unrelated news: you gotta love Nerwen's uniquely passive-aggressive style of roleplaying. It's so perfectly Elven, even with the implied snark.

I just realized: if I wanted to do a new show segment, would I post it in the Theatre...or in the Theatre in Q66? (I jest, of course...but it makes me wonder what Sandy may have up his sleeve... )

...I may be just a tad overexcited for/by this Quest. :poke::blush:

Okay, thanks! I always wondered about this because I remember some guys like Dak claimed to be atheist and I was wondering how that was even possible in this world. :classic:

Well, I'm not saying never ever, but not in the nearest future at least. Too busy during the next couple of months.

No you won't. You will do it now. If you don't I will be forced to start a mob and hunt you down. (Just kidding, and for the record I'm quoting someone online)

There's plenty of available players in the Hall now, if any of you have any new quest ideas you want to pitch...

I have a qest idea, I just don't have the light and enough bricks
