Brickdoctor Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 To get it to 40 and then using the mithril would cost 4240 gold... That reminds me. I'm buying everyone's Grinding stone or whetting stone's or whatever they are called for a price that's better than you could save using it. Ooh, I have a Grinding Stone. Not sure how much I want for it. Somewhere around 200-250 Gold, probably. Tesni's got two, I think. Not sure if she's selling, though; wouldn't sell me the Bright Polish. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 OOC: SP doesn't change depending on row. It should be SP: 7 -14/2 = 0 damage taken. The trade-off is that the counter strike is affected by row, which you did calculate. No, because JohnPaul calculated it as (14 Damage - SP: 7)/2 = 4 Damage, reducing Damage for SP before dividing it by two. (Your calculation and joeshmoe's calculation are both right, but different from JohnPaul's.) I'll give you 200. I probably would've used it on the Crossbow to upgrade for WP: 14 to WP: 15 (Right now WP: 15 is as high as I'd want to upgrade a weapon instead of focusing on defenses.), so it would have been used as 150 Gold. Your next upgrade is 290 Gold*, so I'd gain 50 Gold and you'd save 90 Gold...I'll sell it for 220 Gold. *Even though I don't think you'd use it for this next upgrade. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Don't say you'll sell something for 200-250 and then don't accept 200. I'll give you 200. Quote

Capt.JohnPaul Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 No, because JohnPaul calculated it as (14 Damage - SP: 7)/2 = 4 Damage, reducing Damage for SP before dividing it by two. (Your calculation and joeshmoe's calculation are both right, but different from JohnPaul's.) So, can we add this to the FAQ? And, what is the verdict? 0 or 4 damage, because I didn't half the SP. Brickdoctor Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 So, can we add this to the FAQ? And, what is the verdict? 0 or 4 damage, because I didn't half the SP. 0 Damage. You have to divide the Damage in half for Row before you reduce it by SP. Quote
Palathadric Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 On a related note, if anyone's interested in purchasing it, I don't have much use for the Heavy Flail anymore. Around how much would you want for it? So, can we add this to the FAQ? And, what is the verdict? 0 or 4 damage, because I didn't half the SP. I think Sandy subtracts the SP before taking the row into account, but just about everyone else does the row first. I think the latter makes more sense. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I think Sandy subtracts the SP before taking the row into account, but just about everyone else does the row first. I think the latter makes more sense. No, Sandy just rearranges the equation slightly. Instead of (base Damage/Row)-SP=Damage, Sandy uses Health+SP-(base Damage/Row)=remaining Health. The answer is still the same, and the Damage is still halved for Row before the SP is subtracted. In the case of the Free Hit in question, most QMs use ((14/2)-7=0 Damage) while Sandy would use (38+7-(14/2)=38 Health). The answer is still the same: Tarn takes no Damage. Quote
CMP Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Around how much would you want for it? Preferably around 150 gold or so. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 "I remember that Master Nihai had one when we recently quested together in the Fields of Glory. I believe he's still around here somewhere. Tall Raider, shining golden armor, sandals with wings on them. I also saw a couple in Miss Hightribe's inventory when I looked to see what she was willing to sell. "Other than those two, I think the other heroes who possess Grating Stones are away on quests." Always good to have someone that doesn't care about in character/out of character to give you this kind of information. Quote

Palathadric Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Preferably around 150 gold or so. Cool, I may go for that although I'll see if I have the gold for it. Not sure what to do with myself at this point. However, I think I may go paladin for now, in which case the flail would probably be put to better use in the hands of somebody who will be dealing area damage or at least someone who will be rolling damage a bit more frequently than Pretzel. I will consider it though. Always good to have someone that doesn't care about in character/out of character to give you this kind of information. It is, isn't it? I can see Barty snooping around in people's baggage now, peeping past his "blinded" eye. Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 (edited) Kiray opened her mouth to say another horrible pun, but thought better, coming to the conclusion there was not much she could say. Kiray attacks Dreadfully Fried Chicken II from the back row. Not much you could say? You're just not frying hard enough! Were I to meat such a fowl foe, I wouldn't chicken-out or duck for cover, but rather, I would batter them into submission like a dead-pan snarker, stating, "Your Goose is cooked." or maybe, "Order-up!" or maybe even "Supersize this!" ~Insectoid Aristocrat, the Pungeon Master Edited May 10, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote

Scorpiox Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'd be pretty interested in the Heavy Flail if Atramor would be willing to trade; I doubt I'll have much gold by the time our characters meet. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I would hold on to the Flail for now, Pie, at least until after we finish Guffington 2. (If you're coming and if Zeph takes you.) Quote
