Scubacarrot Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 It seems the rule gets to stay. So, anyone around that can do some jinxing? We need to team up, is what I'm saying. Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 What you people in 66 don't know is that Steerpike is only the first boss... Of many! 66 is epic! Quote
Flare Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Personally I think that Baba is a much larger threat to Eubric than Wren was or ever could be... Very anxious about the quest... Quote

If had she managed to fully reach god-mode, her powers would be hypothetically limitless, perhaps even great enough to rival Baba. Quote

I just would've liked to KNOW about it before this. This basically summarizes your entire life in Heroica, doesn't it? Then what is the point of the gloves? Psst...you're NOT playing a Progg at the moment. Just thought you ought to know. Edited May 13, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Zepher Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Hey all, hitting the road but will post a strategy tonight, sorry for the wait . Thothwick, Nyx, snark Baba while I'm gone if you want. Quote

But also: Arthur is a mage, Guts knows Arthur betrayed his party, he is a kid, his first meeting with Arthur was arthur having a monologue and Guts misstaking him for a scribe... A lot would need to happen, for Guts and Arthur to work together. If had she managed to fully reach god-mode, her powers would be hypothetically limitless, perhaps even great enough to rival Baba. But she could never really become a god, could she? She thought she could, but the Gods have no presence on Olegeia. Even the Ennoc's shard thing from quest 38 is, considering that knowledge, just a magic artifact, mistaken as work of the actual Gods. That's how I see it anyway. In a world of magic, It's fairly logical things get assumed to be the work of Gods. Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 But she could never really become a god, could she? Whether or not she could become a god really depends on one's definition of a god. I think Dek'ra and Pretzel did a good job demonstrating in 59 recently that there is no clear definition for what constitutes a god. Wren could have become a god by some people's definition while not completing the requirements necessary by another's description of the term. Quote

I was speaking in terms of Eubric's Pantheon. We know that they do not have physical presence on the world, they do not have avatars or something like that. She could of course become a supercharged magic user, and call herself to god, but that doesn´t make her one. Quote
Flipz Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 She made it pretty clear that she expected to cease to exist as an individual on the physical plane once she ascended. I think she expected to just "vanish" and have exactly the same influence on Olegaia as the existing pantheon did. (Which makes it all the more incomprehensible why she wouldn't accept Arthur as a follower. ) Hm, interesting, I wonder how it would work out... But also: Arthur is a mage, Guts knows Arthur betrayed his party, he is a kid, his first meeting with Arthur was arthur having a monologue and Guts misstaking him for a scribe... A lot would need to happen, for Guts and Arthur to work together. I have a feeling Patricia would have to be involved...she's pretty much the only positive commonality between the two. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I have a feeling Patricia would have to be involved...she's pretty much the only positive commonality between the two. Someone who Guts hasn´t seen in almost two years, and he only slightly respects for her capture of Guts (although that could easily transform into a grudge, depending on Patricia), and her genuine intent for cleaner streets. She is obviously failing at that, not her fault, but still. He would not do her any favours. She made it pretty clear that she expected to cease to exist as an individual on the physical plane once she ascended. I think she expected to just "vanish" and have exactly the same influence on Olegaia as the existing pantheon did. (Which makes it all the more incomprehensible why she wouldn't accept Arthur as a follower. ) Hm. She expected it. It obviously didn´t work out, so I guess we´ll never now if that expectation was warranted, although I would say no. Zepher, what would have happened had Quest 53 failed? Quote

About the issue of Baba's power, I'm interested to see if Baba turns out to be immortal as in unable to die of old age, like the elves in Lord of the Rings, and is a very high-Level sorcerer-type (like Xykon or even "unlimited powah!" Emperor Palpatine), or if she's actually the omnipotent unstoppable force of this dimension/realm/plane/whatever. (In which case defeating her would probably have to involve a quest where heroes convince a higher power of another dimension/realm/plane/whatever to intervene, like Valar.) Quote
Flipz Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 What would have happened had Quest 53 failed? Well, for starters half of the party members would have been permanently dead, including one Test Quester and the first character to reach Level 30. Quote

I see 3 classes of Immortal: >Ageless type (Lifeform can live indefinitely until murdered: Harvester of Passion) >Endurance type (Lifeform endures in a lesser form even when its body is destroyed: Prometheus Regret) >Omnipotent type (Lifeform can only be destroyed by a few beings more powerful then it - usually gods.
