IC: De'kra nodded, "I know. Still, what happens there may affect how Heroica and Wolfgang interact. Right now they seem to ignore we for most part, at least from what I know. This may change things."

"So, everyone, whatcha up to?"

"Much like I suppose we all are, I'm merely waiting for another quest. I heard a rumor that Master Guffington may require Heroica's services again, so I am waiting to see if that develops into a quest that I can go on. I believe he is currently attending the Foundation Day event at Master Wigglepike's theater, though. A party left not too long ago to make sure nothing goes wrong there."

A rather proper looking individual walks into Heroica Hall and walks towards the quest board. He leans his cane onto the wall and pulls out a pen and notebook. He then scratches the names on the sign-up sheet into his book.

"Hmm, more interest than I thought..."

He puts his notebook and pen back into his pocket then swiftly grabs his cane. He put it under his arm as he walks out of the hall.

Guts remains silent for a while, somehow, he felt disappointed by that answer. Eventually, he said: "It doesn't take wealth to become king, if so, Guffington would be in charge around here." After more silence, the raider steered the ship to the left of the island in front of them. "Are you okay over there?."

"That is true, I suppose. But then, what does it take to make a good king? Leadership, strength? You have both Guts, but somehow it seems more fitting to have you lead with a dagger in your hand and a group of heroes behind you. Does Eubric, or Olegaia for that matter, even need a king? It seems rule has only benefited the top individuals and suppressed the rest. I have experienced that, Guts. Would you or anyone else as king fix that?"

"Me, well, taking on 108 insane ninjas can not be good on the body... but we are all getting older I suppose eheh."

Posted

Guts bit his tongue for what he was about to say. What was he even thinking? Him, king? Of Eubric? He could do both, lead heroes, and Eubric. And he could make a change, he could be a good king. Was that really true? He did not know the first thing about leading a city. But the imp was wrong too, without rule, lands dissolve into chaos. Eubric was a prime example. Eventually, he said with a small smile: "You're probably right. I'd miss the action too much. I'm turning us around, Heroica needs you at your best."

As Drake headed back to the bar, Dak flew up behind him and held up his mace.

"I bet you can't fit this in your mouth without stabbing yourself with one of the spikes."

"10 gold says I can."

"20."

"30."

"40."

"Okay, 50. 50 gold. I bet 50 gold. Ahahaha!"

Dak facepalmed as Drake grabbed the mace and began lowering it into his mouth.

Mizuki walks into the hall and sees Monk Pretzel speaking to several heroes. She goes up to the bar and grabs a glass of ale before walking to Monk Pretzel and saying "I forgot to give you back the Magic Viper Skin while we were in Dastan so here it is," before passing him the Magic Viper Skin

I take the Magic Viper Skin, but then hesitate, "Ah, Mizuki. You gave me 100 gold for it to take on loan and 150 later out of the kindness of your heart. This Magic Viper Skin is not nearly worth that amount. You should keep it. Besides, I can't use it at present anyway, so it'll do you more good than me. If I ever need it I'll let you know, but consider it yours."

I hand the Magic Viper Skin back to Mizuki.

"May it continue to serve you well."

"You're right, the murder certainly sounds like a worthy quest. It's been a while since I've done that sort of thing, though, and I don't know if I'm still experienced enough to be chosen. I might take my chances with that Lycan person if not."

"He's one of those wolf people, Erik. He supports the Wolfgang so blatantly that there's no way he will be of any help to the party. I would only consider going on the quest if I had you two to back me up...which may not be a terrible idea. :look:

I rush to the quest board and sign up for Quest 70 in case I don't get chosen for Quest 69.

"One must always watch out for these enemies within. They are a dangerous lot."

"Wha...? Erik? What have you see-"

...

"Mizuki... man, I need to catch up."

"You kids know this fellow?" I toss my head in Drake's direction and grimace.

"Hijacking any progress for their own good. When they say they are fighting against the houses for the benefit of the people they mean the benefit of the Wolfgang. They are no more than petty criminals who wish to turn Eubric in to a wretched hive of scum and villainy."

"Well spoken, Ranger. Pardon me, I forgot your name...if you ever told me. Any criminal can claim that he does his actions for good. Anyone can find an excuse for evil if they think about it long enough and God knows that the Wolfgang do nothing else but evil, so they have plenty of time to justify their wicked acts. The fact is doing evil is evil no matter what excuse you use to justify it."

"Arguably the same could be said about Heroica. Personally, I believe that they may change Eubric for the better."

"The only reason the same could possibly be said of Heroica these days is because it contains the likes of you and your other abominations who are just waiting for the chance to betray Eubric into the hands of villains. If Heroica would be rid of your kind it would thrive and lead Eubric into a new era of hope and peace like in the old days, but no, you and your undead and vampire friends remain in the hall contaminating it with your seeds of darkness and using the protection granted us to protect you from those who would bring you to punishment.

"How can petty criminals whose only concerns are lining their pockets and becoming more powerful change the world for the better? Instead of 6 house we will have one house who will abuse their power. Anyway Heroica was founded on good principles but some members are not heroes, but with the Wolfgang it is the leaders that are the issue."

"Thieves will always be thieves whether they start their stealing at the top of the ladder or at the bottom. The circumstances alone will not and cannot change a man. Once the Wolfgang reach that level they will just continue to rob Eubric for all its worth. Some claim they steal out of necessity. That's the greatest lie ever. No one needs to steal out of necessity. They steal because they deem it an easier form of income than working hard. The money is only used to satisfy their rapacious desires and every once in a while they pay off some people to support their cause so they can pretend they have the peoples of Eubric behind them."

"Hmm... what a controversial issue. They argue the houses are destroying Eubric, so destroying with them would be good. ON the other hand, the Houses help protect Eubric and keep it prosperous. It just depends I guess. If some petty criminal tried to convince me, I never would. But if a highranking one had some good reasons or arguments, I don't know."

"It is true, what stops the Wolfgang from abusing their new power if they take control?"

"Nothing would stop them. The only thing stopping them now is what little remains of the Town Watch and the houses and Heroica too on occasion. Throw them out and you will see the Wolfgang drain Eubric and the surrounding area of all life and wealth. Do not allow yourself to falter between two opinions, knight. You cannot just look at arguments and assume that because the argument is good, it means that it is the truth. Look at the deeds and actions. The Wolfgang are murderers and pillagers and commit crimes that the houses wouldn't even think of committing. The houses may be corrupt, but they still have some good in them. I see no good emanating from the Wolfgang. Should you ever encounter them, don't allow yourself to be deluded by their lies and arguments."

I look up the description of Quest 71. "Wolfgang reputation? Is that a thing now? God help us all!"

"Perhaps we should get a little more advanced," Johon says "I'm not the greatest of teachers at this kind of stuff..." Lunging his staff at Karie, with the back of his hand hold the staff unguarded, he explains what to do. "Disarm me, use your opponents flaws to your advantage."

...Back when Karie was sent the letter.

"It looks like there's something on the other side too..." Johon said, flipping the notice over. "A Secret Under Eubric," Johon read, deciding to sign up. "Anyone else want to sign up for this quest?"

Erik signs up for quests 70 and 71.

"You kids know this fellow?" I toss my head in Drake's direction and grimace.
"Yes, he is certainly... eccentric, but don't be too hard on him. I think all the personalities bouncing around in his head have driven him mad.

Mizuki sees a young man with an axe look at her. She turns to the man and says "Oh my gosh, is that you Erik ?"

"Yes, it is. How have you been, Mizuki?"

Dak stared at Erik. Couldn't he be seen anymore?

"Hey, Erik-guy! Are you blind?"

Dak faded into view. He looked exactly like Drake, only he was transparent, red, slightly taller than Drake and he had big bat-like wings. In other words, he was pulled straight out of Hell. Quite literally, in fact.

"Now that you can see me, I'd like to say that first I am not a personality. I am, actually, a demon ghost from the 10th Dimension. Secondly, don't think that there aren't any personalities in Drake's head now that you've seen me. There are lot's more."

"Like me!"

"That is all."

Drake was still trying to put the mace into his mouth.

Reacting quickly Karie sidesteps out of Johon's way.

"You could of at least warned me you were going to lunge at me!"

Watching Johon's movements closely, Karie parries his attack, then in a circular motion of the wrist, sends Johon's staff into the air, which lands a few feet away from them.

"Not bad, eh?"

"The honor is mine. I must say, you do not strike me as one who acts like a Black Knight. Sort of like a Metasimian I quested with once, Master Thothwick; I heard he became a Black Knight.

"And yes, it appears that the dramatic entrance involving some method of loudly opening the doors to announce one's presence is a common problem."

"Thank you, Sir Docken, for the kind words, they truly honor me. My decisions relating to the path of Black Knight were mainly influenced by my parents, who always steered me towards their respective paths of Rogue and Knight. I now see, however, that the skills of Assassin are much more suited to my... unique capability for destruction. I found, early on in my career as a Hero, that death seems to hold no sorrrow for me, however much I wished the contrary. Perhaps it is my upbringing which is to blame, though I remember little of it."

"Oh, had you such a disorder yourself? My apologies, I was not referring to you. I was referring to that loudmouth who just fell off the stairs. Apparently, his name is Drake, but he calls himself 'Dak' at odd times."

"So, new assassin, is it? You should meet with Mizuki, the ninja-girl. She knows how to pluck the life out of bird and beast alike. Vicious think really."

"Aye, I had, and still have, in a way, such a thing. It is less of an alternate person within myself, as this "Drake" seems to have, but rather a concentration of pure malice that builds up inside me when I am in a stressful situation. I suppose it is because I have ceased to display much emotion for quite some time. This "disorder", as you call it, could simply be an outlet for emotions that I normally keep hidden. Mizuki, you say? I must admit, I had not heard of her until now. I will certainly speak with her. Perhaps you could point her out for me, if she is in the Hall of course."

"You have my apologies, Sir. May I retract my previous statement and replace it with: I think all the personalities bouncing around in his head and the demon ghost from the 10th dimension flying around at his back have driven him mad."

"So how did you meet Drake, Mr Dak?"

Posted

"Yes, sometimes removing the weapon from the situation is the best thing to do is the best, while other times it isn't. One advantage many people don't realize, although small, is an unarmed opponent against an armed one. Unarmed fighting relies heavily on planning. For now, try and beat me."

Johon waits for Karie's attack.

IC: De'kra returns to the hall, and briefly looks at the quest list. Resolving to wait for Arthur, at least for the moment, he returns to his chair.

"I would expect as much from someone with the Shadeaux name. Assassins can be powerful, and in my opinion, much more useful than Black Knights. Black Knights aren't as good in teams and don't have as unique abilities as Assassins."

"I apologize; I did not mean to insult your family. As for Holy enemies, I suppose that is an area in which Black Knights are powerful, and they do have the option of dealing extra Damage. In my experience, those enemies aren't very common, though."

Dak faded into view. He looked exactly like Drake, only he was transparent, red, slightly taller than Drake and he had big bat-like wings. In other words, he was pulled straight out of Hell.

"My God! A demon in the hall?! Honestly this one seems more insane than pure evil." I bop "Dak" on the bean with my Cross of Light.

"...Mizuki, you say? I must admit, I had not heard of her until now. I will certainly speak with her. Perhaps you could point her out for me, if she is in the Hall of course."

"She is just here, now. Mizuki, Dak Shadeaux. Dak Shadeaux, Mizuki ... I don't believe I know your last name? But as they say, always better to have the professional assassins on your side."

"You have my apologies, Sir. May I retract my previous statement and replace it with: I think all the personalities bouncing around in his head and the demon ghost from the 10th dimension flying around at his back have driven him mad."

"So how did you meet Drake, Mr Dak?"

"You do have a point there. Make sure you clarify though, when you speak of Dak, lest Mister Shadeaux here assume you are speaking to him instead of...this."

"I would expect as much from someone with the Shadeaux name. Assassins can be powerful, and in my opinion, much more useful than Black Knights. Black Knights aren't as good in teams and don't have as unique abilities as Assassins."

"I have experienced this first head while questing with Mademoiselle Mizuki. She stomped the life out of those who tried to attack us in an instance. What is more, she even shared the gold she earned between us. Friendly girl, really. I have always said, she's the least selfish rogue, I've ever met. I've never quested with a Black Knight before, so I wouldn't know their strengths and weaknesses, but I can't say I'm too keen on questing with them in the future. One cannot hope to fight the evil darkness that overshadows Eubric with yet more darkness." :sceptic:
