Feeling the need to be on a quest, Drake looked at the questboard.

"Pick quick, before the people start noticing that the window is broken."

"Yeah yeah, I know... hmm.... Alfendi, huh? I remember him... the guy got me in a huge fiasco in a town a few miles away from this one, stole some gold from me and then took off to the next city before I finally managed to club him over the head with a plank of wood. He probably can't remember the incident now, though... anyway, I still want revenge so I'll sign up for Quest #103."

Drake then looked at the other quest on the board.

"Shadeaux... Dragonlord.... even though I hate those guys, I wanna get into some quest in case I don't get into the other. So, I'll also sign up for Quest #104."

"Great, great... now go fix that window."

"Ugh, fine."

Warlen and Quarion walked and floated, respectively, over to the hero fixing the window.

"Hey there, buddy!" said Warlen.

"Warlen Melimane, Mage, W for short. This is my floating, flaming friend Quarion the skull."

"Yo, call me Q!" said Quarion.

"And you are?" asked Warlen.

"As was yourself. I would be honored to venture out with you."

"Yes, we'd be hard to beat, watching eachother's backs. This next quest seems more of a sit and wait, which should be good with our defensive capabilities. "

As Arthur returns once more to the Hall, he happens to bump into a pair of figures also entering the crowded space. Arthur stiffens when he realizes who they are.

"A thousand apologies, Master Dragonlord, Count Shadeaux." The Skirmisher quickly bows to each man before scurrying away to a seat at the bar.

Count Shadeaux glances confusedly at the Veteran standing next to him.

"'ave I met zis Hero before, Dragonlord?"

heroicanpc-dragonlord.jpg

"Foundation Day. He was with the Watch at the time."

heroicanpc-noctusshadeaux.jpg

"Ah. Yes." Noctus' memory of that day seemed to be somewhat less than positive.

As the two walk toward the stairs leading to the bar, they decide to pass by the Quest board, where not one but two notices from the Shadeaux hang requesting Heroes' help.

"Zis iz not a good time for zee House of Shadeaux, I fear."

heroicanpc-dragonlord.jpg

"Have faith in us, Count. Heroica will always be around to help those who need saving."

"If you say so, Dragonlord."

The Veteran and the Head of House Shadeaux survey the names listed, the latter with quite a bit of skepticism, before climbing the stairs and finding as private a table as possible, where they resume their conversation in subdued voices.

Erdathcath, worn down and weary from her previous Quest returns to the hall, and orders a cup of Green-Lea Tea. Spotting Arthur, she walks over, "Darling, by any chance, do you still have the Chaotic bomb? I would love to get it if possible."

Posted

"Sounds good to me!" Erdathcath hands 75 gold to Arthur, and receives the Chaotic Bomb. "Oh, and I must say, it was truly wonderful fighting alongside you against that Giant, perhaps we shall quest together again soon."

Posted

"Sure, since I know it'd be going to a good home. I'd be willing to part with it for 75 Gold, seem fair?"

75 Gold? Actaeon thinks, Perhaps Heroes make more than I suspected. Or perhaps it is an extremely deadly bomb.

Seeing Arthur return to the Hall, Thormanil stands and tries to catch his attention, haphazardly juggling a bottle of Bright Polish a ways behind the dark haired druid.

Grimwald returns, now a Sage.

"Ooh goodie, I can cast spells now! Time to fry up some bad guys."

He then signs up for Quest #103.

"Something was left for you."

Hoke hands Grimwald the Robes of the Disciple of Ennoc.

"Oh! Yes, thank you. I'd almost forgotten about it.

Did the previous owner want me to entrust you with the gold, or should I await her return? Erm... I've also quite forgotten how much she wanted for it....."

Arthur sees Thormanil waving to him and smiles--it was good to be home again.

75 Gold? Actaeon thinks, Perhaps Heroes make more than I suspected. Or perhaps it is an extremely deadly bomb.

As he makes his exchange with Erdathcath, he notices a novice Ranger stare at him in what could only be disbelief. "Best get used to it, Ranger. The life of a Hero is expensive, even when we make an effort to cut deals for friends."

"Perhaps. I hope to Quest for the Shadeaux again, if it is with them that your loyalties lie than perhaps our paths will align once more."

heroicanpc-scheherazade2.jpg

"Package for you," Schezerade interrupts. "And tell that woman who left it here that I'm not your damn mail service."

Arthur winces but does not reply, knowing argument with the Orcish bar-matron was pointless. Seeing Grimwald stop by the Quest board, he too decides to take a stroll by.

"The Dragonlord's...but that could only be...Dastan?! Still, Tarn's there, I doubt they'd need someone of my talents..." Allowing his gaze to drift a bit, he stumbles across two notices of interest.

The first was a Quest notice. At mention of a burglary and the Shadeaux, he knows where he'd be needed. Arthur signs up for Quest 103.

The second was a sale notice posted by another Hero.

For Sale: Stag Antlers (WP: 10, intimidation, halberd)

Due to change of profession, these stag antlers are now unsuitable for myself. Excellent weapon, usable for both bashing of skulls and intimidating those around you for loot and favour.

Will sell for a decent amount of gold or trade for one of these so called 'artifacts'.

If interested, contact Guts Holla

Looking to the bar, he saw that Guts was indeed present, and sitting not to far away from Thormanil as well. Taking the notice from the board, he hastens up the stairs, stopping first at Thormanil's table to drop off 230 Gold in exchange for the Bright Polish. "Back in a moment," he promises the Dragoon, walking over to Guts.

Arthur rummages in his pack for a moment, then presents his Jester's Hat along with the notice to the once-Raider. "This seem like something you'd be interested in?" he inquires.

Posted

"I can live with that." As he takes the antlers in hand, Arthur inexplicably feels his posture grow more aggressive, and senses an aura of Intimidation spreading from the weapon and through his body. He chuckles softly. Well, that's mystery of Heroica solved: how Guts got gruff. I wonder where he got these?

Still testing the balance and heft of his new weapon, Arthur returns to Thormanil's table, packages still in hand, unopened. "Ho, there, Thormanil, and...friend. It's been a while since I've spoken with a Dragon in person...how fares Dastan, small one?" His attention still on the small blue reptile, Arthur absently begins opening the first package.

"I am unaware of any exchange. Mayhaps you can leave the gold with the barkeep as I, hopefully, will not be in the Hall much longer."

"Arthur? Is that you? My, you look so different in that new armor. When did you go back and see the Lion Knights? "

"Alexandre! My goodness, I don't think I've seen you since we returned from Dastan! My road...has had a few twists and turns since then, you could say." Arthur's hands momentarily cease their work, as he turns his full attention to the Hero he'd known since his first Quest. "Lord Knyghton gratefully took me in during a...a dark time, let's call it. Luke nursed me back to health, and Lord Knyghton set me to training with the other Skirmishers under Sir Leofard."

"You should have seen them, Alex. The army of the Lions is stronger than ever. United as a single team, we become quite the formidable force. Oh, forgive my rudeness, Alexandre Le Chevalier, meet Thormanil Nihai, Raid...no, you don't seem to be a Raider any more, do you? Anyway, Thormanil Nihai, Alexandre Le Chevalier, Knight...now Black Knight, by the looks of it." The Skirmisher chuckles. "Would've pegged you more as a Paladin sort, myself. Isabella must have been a bad influence on you."

The laughter in his eyes fades as he recalls the last Quest the three of them had shared. "I wonder how she's been? Hope I didn't drive the poor girl out of Heroica..." Arthur looks to Thormanil, to explain. "We went to Dastan together. That's where I...well. The start of several poor decisions in my life. And I took a lot of it out on Isabella." He sighs. "I wish I could take it all back. I honestly do...I honestly do wish I could take it all back. Anyway, if I was ever to see her again, d'you know what I'd say? I'd say 'I'm sorry. Sincerely. I am sorry I was bossy, and monstrous, and I am genuinely sorry.' The end."

Actaeon opens his mouth to speak, but the man turns away before he has a chance. A good opportunity to gather information missed. He thinks to himself. Stay sharp, don't let it happen again.

Actaeon turns his attention to the conversation between the man who had just spoken to him and some apparent old friends. He tries his best to pick out important details of the conversation: their names, the relationships between the three, their classes, etc.

He quickly flips out a tiny, leather bound notebook and jots down the details in short, choppy sentences. He does so with his back turned to the conversation to ensure that they do not notice. In a matter of seconds, the book is back in his pocket. He looks up to make sure no one has seen his procedure. It appears that he was not spotted.

Most people would consider this information useless, but over the years, Actaeon has come to understand that no information is truly useless.

After basically disappearing right in the middle of their adventure, Isabella clearly had a lot to explain to his old friends in Hall. But there is time for everything and now, it is time for her to get back and see what changed and what not.

"It'd be quite interesting to learn what did people thought about me."

"Actaeon Artus," Actaeon responds with a smile. "I hear that you just returned from a quest," he says, trying to further the conversation, "was it successful?"

"Ah, yes, it was indeed successful, or as successful as possible. We lost a few good people along the way. Actually, they were just creatures, but they had been brainwashed into monsters, and I truly wish I could have saved them all, but I guess some days everyone dies. As for you, I do not believe I have seen you around here, are you new here?"
