After Althior had yelled at Benji, Althior argued with the other members and rushed out with Alexis. Seeing that Althior had returned, Benji was determined to stand up for himself.

Althior pivots in his chair and stares at Benji, "I wouldn't be talking Elf! At least I wasn't the one who started this war! Don't be sitting their calling people snobs who are being put in to stop what you did! Get off your fat butt and do something good for once!"

OOC: Again, Nothing against you, but I'm setting things up for Althior in his quest.

"OK then, you mage? You think you're so damn good, don't you? I signed up for the quest too, you know, but I wasn't accepted to join it. Actually, I've been signing up for quests ever since I got back from Quest #4! What have you done in your time in the hall? You've been kissing, drinking, and yelling at people! I've been trying to give advice to some new members! How about you stop with the damn romance and start using your damn brain, you pudding-brained daughter of a worm!"

Benji prepares his crossbow.

Alexis comes into the hall and makes her way over to Althior's table. "I had a good time last night. Thank you for taking me out." She smiles at him. "How did you sleep last night? It sounded like you were tossing and turning."

"Everyone makes mistakes Dekra, Althior is just really nervous with the expectations he has." "We will learn to rely on each other, as a wise one once said: Danger is the anvil on which trust is forged."

IC: De'kra began to twitch as the ranger spoke, his movements slowly becoming more erratic. As De'kra unleashed a shriek of utter pain, a fiery dot appeared on his face. The dot was identical to hs eyes, in shape, size, and color. Suddenly more "eyes" formed, even as De'kra's body began to tremble with no rhyme or reason. "How you know that words?" he asked even as he collapsed, "Words not said here, words said within-" At that moment De'kra collapsed to the ground, shattering the floor slightly. The lights other than his eyes faded from him, but but his body still laid unmoving.

OOC: of course your character probably heard it either when De'kra said it way back before Quest 4 was announced, or by word of mouth since then. He left out a bunch of words, but the blanks are pretty easy to fill in. Otherwise he couldn't have known about the phrase. Here is what he said all those months ago.

Danger anvil on which trust forged

Arthur was concerned. He hadn't intended his jesting poke at Spag to go so far, but it seemed to have affected him rather deeply. Good, he thought. Maybe now the thing'll think before he acts, for once in his life. Arthur wondered what it was about the Grumpkin that irked him so, but he didn't have time to ponder it.

Arthur runs to De'kra, and scoops him up in his arms. Surprisingly, the diminuitive shade had quite a bit of weight to him. He wondered if it was a side effect of whatever was happening to the shade. "CLERIC!!!" he yells.

IC: As De'kra lay knocked out, a strange chatter began to pour from his mouth. It was barely audible, but to those close by it might reach their ear. It was a quiet sound not unlike the clicking of insects, with hints of gears clanging. There was some pattern to the odd whispers, with repeating syllabals and common sounds. Gradually the whispering died down, and De'kra began to stir.

As he slowly gained consciousness, De'kra noticed he was lying collapsed on the ground. His body felt...less stable and his head hurt as much as had when he woke up on the beach, the battle, and after the second incident with amnesia. Realizing this De'kra muttered, "I die again?"

OOC: Arthur picked De'kra up.

"I'm...not sure. Benji said something, and then these weird eyes appeared on you--I assume they were eyes, they looked just like the ones you're looking at me with right now--anyhow, and then you started clicking and...clanking, almost. I think you were saying one word, or one phrase, over and over again. I don't know why you would have gotten hurt, but..." Arthur realizes De'kra might not want to be held, and he gingerly sets the shade down. "Maybe you should see a cleric. I heard that one, Ellaria, recently got back from a Quest, perhaps you should see if she could help? Too bad Cinna is still away, I bet with her darkness magic, she could heal you right up." Arthur looks at De'kra, concerned. "Are you sure you're OK?"

OOC: I wasn't sure if he was totally off the ground yet. Something to note is that De'kra's realm of the dead is different than most planes of death, should some exist.

IC: De'kra felt his body and commented, "It native tongue. It not translate well, one reason I still no speak you tongue well. I no think I die now, mind no scream in terror. Mind no scream in terror: I no die. Word to wise, no die even if necromancer nearby: death not fun. I recover soon enough, I usually feel better right away. I sorry to trouble you." The shade started off, his body twitching. The shade had a faint idea of what the ranger had said, but luckily he was a little more emotionally stable at the moment. The ranger probably just heard De'kra say it before Quest 4 began, though it doesn't explain why hearing his own words freaked De'kra out so much. Regardless that concern and this episode was being swept out of De'kra's mind, even as he remembered his failures and mistakes once more.

"Benji didn't say anything, that was me. Are you alright Dekra?"

"Oh, that's right, Benji was busy yelling at Althior. Sorry, William."

IC: De'kra softly nodded and clicked, "It not so bad, it just brief...coma. I only see void for second. I death worse, I was in void and unable to escape. I see Them for second. But it only coma, so only brief look of void, not in void. By way other person and odd hat, good luck in Quest 17. Remember not to act like I, you chance of success should rise." The shade began to walk off towards the hall honoring the original Veterans, the six ancient champions of Heroica.

Benji prepares his crossbow.

"Oh Great! Bacari has returned to the hall! What fun that'll be," :hmpf: "Well, you could just say that, it's not like I put much intent on looking at every single damn sign up sheet every day. I make sure my name's there, and that's that, got it? And don't be thinking you're sooo great, like I haven't been signing up for every quest since I got back from that bloody forest in the middle of blood nowhere" With that he turned back to Alexis, keeping the Ranger out of his mind. He had tried to stay calm, but the curse didn't agree. He'd explain to the ranger once he got back.

"Heh, yeah, tossing and turning," He looked down at his hand, the curse implanting itself there. He grasped it firmly, hiding it from the nosy eyes of the heroes.

Please excuse our party leader's behaviour, he is quite stressed at the moment.

Arthur walks over to his Party Leader. "What do you think about darkness, sir?"

"Huh??"

"My next gemstone. I'm thinking I should choose a gem of Darkness, so I can help with things other than beasts. What do you think?"

Usually, Althior would get into a long talk about how he didn't need peoples help or their compassion, but he smiled at the Ranger, giving him a sense of gratitude.

"You're right kid, my usual answer would be, 'Huh?' but seeing as you've explained yourself, It's very useful for mage's, but don't use too much of it, or bad things will happen. I'd say if you come across one, Diamond might be good, to fend off dark spirits, you know? If you have Light, there's almost no chance of Corruption," 'Almost' He thought. He was living proof of that.

Alex the Chevalier stands beside his fellow elf and slips his arm through his buckler and fastens it. He draws his curved sword, designed to hack and slash with maximum efficiency. Though the mage turned back to his girlfriend, ignoring what was bound to be a coming fight.

"You wanna drink Benji, we can talk."

"Are you sure you're all right?" She asked with a look of concern.

He sighed. He could never keep secrets from Alexis, even if he wanted to. He laid his hand on the table as he took off his glove...

Nothing.

"Dammit it was the other hand!" :laugh:He laid his other hand on the table, hoping it was still there. He and Alexis both saw that it was. He looked at it with disgust as he turned away."I understand if you want to move out, if you're- afraid of this. I'll have someone move your things out of my room. All I want is your happiness, even if that has nothing to do with me," A tear came to his eye. One single tear.

William was so tired, he argued and defended his party leader and consoled a talking pumpkin, life was hard.

Alex looked at his tired out face.

"Good job consoling that pumpkin. You did a good thing. Now join Benji and I for a round of drinks!"

The knight gestured William over to the bar.

"But it's not that simple," He was at a loss to explain, "it's making me, different," he didn't know how to exactly describe it, "You're the only thing holding me back from complete and utter insanity!" He lowered his voice, "What's hap-happening to me?" He was turning into a nervous wreck.

William sits down with Alex for a round of drinks, "Is it just me or is our party leader getting worse?"

-==IC: Arthur==-

"It's not just you. I think it's just because we're getting so close to our time of departure. I think once we actually get moving, things'll get better...so long as Spag manages to keep his mouth shut around Althior." And me. Arthur frowned, and downed an ale. The patron it actually belonged to frowned and signalled Schezerade to bring him another. "I don't know what it is about that Grumpkin, but man does he get on my nerves." Just as the orc bartender sets down the other man's drink, Arthur reaches out and picks it up, still looking at William. "I've never met a Grumpkin in person before, are they all that...irritating?" A man sitting at a table across the way sees the man next to Arthur grow redder and redder. He gets up and brings his just-delivered drink over, but right at that moment Arthur leans back in his seat and...

*CRASH!*

"Oh, sorry sir, it's this blasted staff--"

"GREAAAAAAUGH!!!!" The man next to Arthur, now wearing the contents of the other man's glass, jumps up and storms out of the bar. His would-be friend chases after him, presumably to calm him down.

Arthur returns his attention to William. "Man, what's his problem?"
