Flipz Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Spag is, simply put, not used to this type of environment, he is used to the trappings of fame and fortune. He will mature over time and will accept the order of things in the hall. "If you say so." Arthur downs a third ale. "If he doesn't get his act together, though, he's going to get slaughtered. That's why i made up that story about the Brobrics being in league with chickens, thought it might scare him into being a little more serious. Althior may be a little harsh, but he's got it right: we're walking straight into a warzone, and, as the wise De'kra pointed out, we can't be sure of trusting anyone, not even our own employer. A cavalier, 'I want to go out and kill something' kind of attitude is a good way to get yourself killed out there. Being a hero isn't about just battles and riches and glory. There's more to it than that. We seek to protect the innocent, right the wrongs of the land, and boldly face what no one else dares. And sometimes, that means using your brain instead of bashing someone else's in." OOC: I think Althior's a bad influence on Arthur. Quote
K-Nut Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 OOC: I think Althior's a bad influence on Arthur. OOC: Great! Now I have to rearrange all my groups completely! Althior gets out of bed and gets dressed. He knows that he'd most likely have to leave Alexis today. He sighed as he slipped an image he drew a long time ago into her bracelet, letting her know he was always there for her. He laid a gentle kiss on her forehead as he left the room, for probably a month or two. Finnegan trailed behind him. "If we're not taken away today, I'm gonna' kill you for being in unnecessary presence of a chicken!" "Don't worry, if the birds there I'll make it up to you somehow," Quote

Tanma Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 IC: De'kra walked away from the crowded regions of the hall, leaving behind the plague of Rome Ant Icism and Uland's corruption, if only for a moment. But even here De'kra could feel the weight of the war upon him,, it never creased. The shade struggled against his mistakes, each threatening to engulf him in an endless ocean. So many would die in the war in the north, and so many had died already because of his indifference, in the time before time. He was an utter failure, and so many lay dead because of him. But in that ocean of pain lay an island of refuge, maybe two. Somewhere deep in De'kra's memories something stirred. The six villages that haunted De'kra's dreams, he had forgotten something vital about them. The people there, they were amnesiacs, their entire memories lost thanks to a great evil. For a thousand years that evil exalted the villages with great power and enslaved beasts, trying to cripple them. But yet, these amnesiacs stayed strong, and kept fighting. They had only spears and disks made from plants, yet they fought gigantic tigers and a evil entity stronger than any Mage. And these villagers had no Ether or Heroica to aid them, they had to rely on their own power, That was where the quote came from, the one that had knocked De'kra out. From a warrior who had faced down gigantic beasts, with no knowledge of his past. A warrior who had lead his people to defy an evil, despite the dangers. Mistakes were made in the six villages during those 1000 years, Heoes were exiled over misunderstandings, and evil doers were trusted. But they never stopped fighting for freedom and for a better future. They never gave in to their pain, even after one thousand years of suffering and confusion. The least De'kra could do is not to give into depression. Sure he was a failure, but that didn't mean he should wallow in self hatred. If the villages could keep fighting, he could keep trying. Quote

On the table of the bar, addressed to De'kra, is a small, wrapped package attached to an envelope. Inside the envelope is a letter: To De'kra, The time has come, I now depart on my Quest. I thank thee for thy advice and companionship, and your view of the Houses. Surely thy advice shall prove a boon to me and my fellow heroes on this quest. I dearly hope that we shall meet again, and, perhaps, someday Quest together. If ever you find yourself in need, you need only ask, and you shall have my aid. This book is magically linked to one I carry in my posession at all times. The words you inscribe within shall appear in my book, and vice versa. It is my hope that, even if I cannot be there in person, my words may be of some aid to you. Fare thee well, De'kra, bringer of righteous shadow. May our paths cross again soon. --Arthur Justus Regulus VII Quote
Tanma Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 IC: De'kra looked over at the image of the Fey One, his favorite of the Veterans. The barbarian had grown on him, now that he understood that Eubric was a horrible place, but the Fey One would always interest him. Not so much because of any physical attraction, but because of some similarities, at least in the mind of De'kra. The Fey One, much like De'kra, was said to have been immune to the plague of Rome Ant Icism. Perhaps others might exist with such immunity as well, and they might be able to create a cure. Likewise the Fey One was a mystery, and although De'kra didn't understand any people cared if this elf was male or female, he understood a little about confusion and mysteries. Perhaps De'kra was just searching for something familiar, but he found comfort there. After a time recovering, the shade reentered the main region of the Hall. He was a little more upbeat, though he was still changed from when he first joined Heroica. But he would try not to wangst anymore about his mistakes, he owed those six villages that much. As he walked through the hall he spotted a note from that mage from before. The shade read through it, and nodded to no one in particular. Hopefully this Arthur would avoid the foolishnesses De'kra had succumbed to, and instead would save lives. A part of De'kra was glad that he might have saved another hero from his mistakes, but he knew that won't make up for even just Quest 4. No, he would have to go Questing again, but not just yet. OOC: looking at the Fey One, I am reminded a little of V from Order of the Stick. Quote

IC: De'kra wondered what this book the Mage...Arthur...left could mean for future Quests. If instantaneous communication could work, then heroes could split into two teams, and know immediately if the other group was attacked. Information could be traded from across vast distances, changing the fate of a quest. It could change Eubric, although if De'kra's memories were of Xu, the aoi already had such technology. OOC: Darths and Droids is good, how many comics can honestly say, Jar-Jar you're a genius, without looking insane? Edited December 13, 2011 by Tanma Quote

OOC: Darths and Droids is good, how many comics can honestly say, Jar-Jar you're a genius, without looking insane? OOC: Well, you have to sit down and actually write the stuff in it...which would be kind of hard to do in combat. Even if you chose to skip all of your turns, you'd be busy dodging the fighting, and the writing would pretty much be gibberish... It'd be more useful for puzzles, figuring out riddles, catching people in lies, etc. But even then, something akin to the interference with Magic Compasses could come into play. This is intended more for character development, and for sharing IC knowledge back and forth with people in the Hall while on a Quest. Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Alexis came into the hall to see what was happening. She knew Althior had gone but she wasn't worried about it, he would be back before she knew it. Alexis made her way upstairs to the bar and got herself a drink. She was really wanting to go on a quest here soon. "Maybe it'll help keep my mind off Althior," she though. Quote
CMP Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Atramor glanced around the near-empty bar. Althior and the vegetable had left, as well as with the clumsy one...Arthur? Sounded about right. He sipped his mead, one hand scratching the back of McCafferey's neck as she pecked at a cob of corn he'd ordered. It was nearly worth being her just for the free food. Of course, the making friends and helping people was also nice too. And the loot, the loot too....funny, the main reason he'd come to Heroica Hall now a secondary goal. Quote

Tanma Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 "Looks like not many of us are left here at Heroica Hall..." De'kra nodded at the ranger, though he was still distracted. Those six villages still lurked in his mind, and the more he thought of them the more details were filled in. The villages were in many different environments, one above a forest, one underground, one even lurked inside a lake of lava. Even as the island and the six villages began to redefine into better details, the shade strained to remember those heroic villagers, who appeared as blurs in his mind. Who were they, where in the world were they? Or were they even of Olegaia? Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Alexis came into the hall, got herself a drink, and sat down. As she looked around in the hall, Althior's empty place again reminded her that she had slept alone last night. She sighed. Even if she wouldn't admit it to Althior, she was rather worried about him. Maybe going on a quest would help her keep her mind off Althior. Quote

CMP Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Atramor scans through the chosen heroes for Quest 18 - at last! He clapped his hands together excitedly. And then silently hopes nobody noticed. Among the other heroes were the pale-looking mage, Alf, Alexis, the intimidating-looking mage he'd seen before, and Ellaria. A fair selection - perhaps a bit more magic than he would've liked, but at least there was a barbarian to take all the hits while they took out the enemies. He looked in his pouch - before remembering he had no gold to spare. Ah, well. Perhaps there'd be another shark with overburdened pockets. Even McCafferey gave an excited squawk as he sat back at the bar, grinning to himself, sipping a celebratory rum deeply. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Alf smiles as he realizes that he has been chosen. Alf gets ready to g on an adventure! Alf goes and meets his new Quest-mates! Quote
Sandy Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 Ellaria walked to the Questboard to see if she was chosen into the quest she signed up, and indeed she was. She saw Alexis walking towards the board as well, so she waved and grinned at her. They would embark on a mutual adventure once again! As Ellaria turned back to ensure her name was there, she noticed a small error on the list of chosen players. She was marked as a Level 11,5 Cleric when she knew she was already at Level 12. Tutting by herself she wrote the correct number on the list. Quote
Quarryman Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Based on the excited group of people in front of the quest board Namyrra understood the list of chosen heroes for another quest had been posted, so she went over to see if she might perhaps have been chosen too. And lo and behold, there she was on the list, along with a whole gang of new people she'd hardly met, but heard good things about from other quests, all of them experienced heroes who could be depended on in a tight spot. Tanma Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) IC: De'kra sighed to himself, for soon another Quest would begin and he would be alone. It was his own fault, but it would still be a slow time. But De'kra could wait, soon enough one of the current quests would end anyway. In the meantime De'kra remembered something that the Mage might want to know. Quickly he enscribed into the strange book. Listen, there is something you should know. When we fought the elves at the end of Quest 4, all of them had resistance to spells. The civilian elf could only half elemental damage of foes, but the two elites were completely immune. I am not sure if this will hold true for the elves you face, but you might want to be aware of this, being a Mage and all. Edited December 15, 2011 by Tanma Quote
Jebediahs Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 En Sabah Nur smiled weakly at Alf's name. "I now know who to put first in the battle order. Perhaps he'll be KO'd..." The mage's smiled widened as he imagined the barbarian being swarmed by multiple enemies and knocked to the ground. The assailants began kicking Alf. As the camera panned up from him, Nur saw that each attacker had his face! He laughed before another headache set in. "Eesh. I hope this diadem doesn't affect my decision making..." Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Alexis walked up to the board when as she comes into the hall. She see that she and Ellaria will again be questing, along with a few people she had heard about. "Well, I think I'll hit the market place to see if there's anything I need." she says to herself, the heads out the door. Quote
