"Rumors?! Boy, I must have told you at least twenty stories of my time in the army while we were out in that desert. All the sand probably eroded your brain away. Here, let me get it out of your head for you," Boomingham offers as he whacks Marvelo on the back of the head lightly. "Yes, I fought in the Orcish Invasion. I was there until... well, almost to the end. I got frozen in time for the last bit, actually. Aged twenty-two years... I really should go ask that Librarian how it all ended, it's like not knowing the end to a great story that you were actually part of. As for coming to Heroica... well, I didn't have many other places to go, did I? Kingdom was damn gone when I came out of my little time lock. I spent the remaining treasure and needed gold. I knew a few of the veterans, so I figured I'd go looking for them... well, clearly, they weren't still around, but their labors were. If you ask me, letting Orcs in rather goes against what they stood for, but then again, no one seems to ask Ol' Boomingham. Bah. I talk too much. What's your story Mr. Marvelo of the woods? What forced you out of solitude?"

Before he forgets, Boomingham goes to sign up for Quest 21 and Quest 22, gesturing for Mr. Marvelo to follow him.

Amorith follows Boomingham and also signs up for Quests 21 and 22.

"After living alone in the deep forrest for 100 years one starts to miss talking to other people. After musing on the matter for some time (another 20 years) I decided to come here, I thought that I could make a difference here with my skills as a mage. I am sorry that I did not remember your tales, after so long alone I am not accustomed to listening to others, I dwell within my thoughts for most of the time. I disagree with your dislike of the orc races, I have met many beings on my long stay on this earth, I have met both cruel and kind orcs, just as I have met cruel and kind men or elves."

"Well, hey, I'm not going to knock your right to like those smelling little buggers, Mr. Marvelo. You have your right to your opinions, but I have yet to meet a Orc that has proven me wrong. I believe you will learn that I have a reason for my grudge. I could tell you story after story in which they cut down my people, the men I was responsible for. I won't bore you with it, but I could, my good fellow."

"Orcs have committed terrible crimes, I do not deny that, all I meant was that just because those orcs were evil beings that does not mean that all Orcs are evil. What I meant was that the race of Orcs in not intrinsically evil."

"Anyway, why don't we head down to the marketplace, you could imbue the king of the desert with your ruby, that would be a sight to behold."

Barur catches up to his fellow quest mates. He smiles as the Hall is now thriving, full of heroes and new quests, ongoing and for sign up, a very diferent site for when they left on their long journey. He glances the quest board still a little undecided. He could use some from adventuring but he also wouldn't mind following Lord Boomingham and Marvelo again. He had fun afterall!

He turns his back to the board taking some time to think and ,turning to his companions says 'I agree, shall we go shopping'

IC: De'kra did a single twitch to himself as he heard more hatred towards the orc race. The shade knew practically nothing about Eubrics history and past, although he was aware of the war 250 years ago. But looking at the state of this city, he would be hesitant to claim that it was a good thing the Orc's didn't reach Eubric. The city is so corrupt and toxic, it is impossibly to know if the Orc's would have been this ba. They could of been worse, it is very likely that they would have been harsher, enslaving the humans and such of the land. But doesn't Eubric enslave Orc's? And no matter who does it slavery is horrible. One might even argue that the houses of Eubric treat the populous as slaves, or at least they consider the lives of their people equivalent to rocks.

Besides, it is pretty much impossible for all Orc's to be bad, unless they are like an ant coloy. Prongcanis attacked the group all throughout their quest, but one of them gave the group information. The Shadeaux condemned the north to war, but one their youths worried about a missing child of a lower class. Most heroes seem decent, but then there is Wren. Only races who areone in mind can claim that they are all good or all evil, once free will is added to the equation then such unifying concepts are useless.

"If we're heading out tomorrow, I should go to the library... and say good bye to this beautiful drink once more... I guess this is the life of a hero, here one day, gone the next." Boomingham starts to leave when he trips over a small shade. "Watch where you're going chappo, some fellows may not be able to see you past their own bellies," Boomingham advises the small creature before patting him on the head. "You should get out of this hall again some time soon. It revitalizes the spirits, you know, and gets you away from the spirits, if you know what I'm talking about." Boomingham laughs and then heads off to the library.

A bookish-looking man walks into the hall, and looks at the questboard.

"The current sign-ups for quest #21 are:"

Benji Carvenhall (Flare)

Tarn Valco (Rumble Strike)

Lord Lawrence Boomingham (Zepher)

Amorith Marvelo (legobodgers)

"Ah, but it would seem that all of you are committed to other quests. I shall tell my employers immediately."

The man turns to leave, but seems to remember something, and turns around.

"Also, I've heard of a certain quest where a 'Crozen Porthiar' was spotted. Quest #5, Cave Sounds, was it? I would like at least one hero from that quest to go on this quest. Please spread the word, heroes, since the hall seems quite empty at the time. Good day."

With that, the man turns and leaves.

Quest 22 closed.

The chosen Heroes are:

Lord Lawrence Boomingham, Level 13 Knight (Party Leader)

Amorith Marvelo, Level 9 Mage

Benji Carvenhall, Level 10.5 Ranger

QM note: UsernameMDM, cralegoboy, and I have worked this out and we have decided for these 3 heroes for quest #22: Winter problems.

On other matters, would the Heroes like to start the quest now, or on Wednesday? If you start now, I'll be less active and may be gone a day, but if you start on Wednesday you can talk with other members. Regardless, I'm fine either way.

So Boomingham, we are off again, I am glad to be questing with such a fine man such as yourself. It seems that I will become the cleric for the party as I have the most restorative potions, tonics and the like.

Boomingham totters back into the hall after a brief trip to the library, where Byblos referred him to a number of books which greatly expanded his knowledge. He sat down at the table with his soon to be Quest-Mates as they told him that the three of them would be embarking together.

"Hello there Boomingham fellow, looks like we might be going on a quest together. I have heard many stories about you..."

"Good, you should have heard many stories of me! I tell enough that at least a few should make their way to you. But I must admit, chappo, that I don't really know much about you."

So Boomingham, we are off again, I am glad to be questing with such a fine man such as yourself. It seems that I will become the cleric for the party as I have the most restorative potions, tonics and the like.

"Yes indeed, we're off again! I hope that Nyx and Sylph come to see us off, I'd hate to leave without seeing them! Especially Nyx, she owes me a drink! I've also come to the terrible realization that seeing other heroes in the hall may be a little... challenging. We don't return at the same time too often, it's too bad. I haven't seen Tesni or Eric or Hybros since I left for the desert, and now it looks like I will be departing again without catching up. Makes it damn hard to maintain friendships."

"As for the issue of a lack of a Cleric, if either of you would lend me twenty-three gold, I'd be much indebted to you both... literally, of course!" Boomingham laughs. "I want to upgrade my shield! That way I won't need as much healing!"

I will gladly lend you 3 gold, sorry but that is all that I can spare. Plus it will bring you up to 30 gold and me to 10, nice and round. Don't worry about paying me back.

Now in the hall again, Sylph looked around. He noticed much change, and many new faces. He let his pet bat drop, like a shadow, from it's nook in his cape. The thing or darkness found a new roost in the rafters above and began taking in information with its powerful ears. Sylph looked for familiar faces, and got in just in time to see Boomingham and Marvello form a new team. Before doing anything else, Sylph signed up for Quests 21.

OOC: I don't care either way, but I will be out from the 25th to the 27th, so I won't be able to participate in the quest during then.

Nyx ambles into Heroica Hall, having spent her time in the training room. She can feel the promise of power bristling under her skin; she knows, has always known, that she has the potential for great power within her, but that it will just take time and experience for it to bubble up to the surface. With that in mind she signs up for Quest #21: Family History; after all the Ziegfrieds are fellow Magic users.

Spotting her recent quest-mates drinking up a storm, she slides into a seat at their table and begins to join in the festivities.

Hey guys, I hope you don't mind if I join you?

Nyx turns to call to her favourite Orc hostess:

And Scheherezade! A round of Flaming Gumballs for my fine friends here, please!

Turning back to the table, Nyx grins at her companions.

I really think you should try these, especially with the dinky little umbrella on top. Let me know if you'd like me to light them for you.

Larry, Amorith, I hear you're already preparing yourselves for your next quest? You know I wish you both well, and I'd love to hear the stories of your exploits when you return. And yes, even your stories Larry!:laugh:

The bookish-looking man returns to Heroica Hall, and checks the sign ups again.

"It would seem that three of the previous signers have been chosen for another quest. So here's the updated sign-ups:"

Tarn Valco (Rumble Strike)

Sylph Solanum (Dannylonglegs)

Nyx (Pandora)

"Hm. Alrighty."

Turning to the heroes in the hall, the man says,"my name is Gilderoy, by the way."

With that, Gilderoy walks out of the hall.

"Ah, thats what they were called. I would love to try one but don't worry about lighting it, I need the practice with my ruby."

Whispering an incantation Amorith conjures a small flame, lighting the drink. Looking pleased with himself Amorith proceeds to have a sip.

"The flavour is... unique."

"Greetings, Mlle. Bugslayer! Thank you for the drinks, they're lovely! I'm glad that I got to see you before I departed once more, I have two things I'd be... remiss, if I didn't get to tell you before I depart. The first is that I could use twenty gold, if you have it. The same goes to Barur and Sylph, since you aren't heading out right away... maybe you could loan me some before Marvelo and I depart? The second is a message. Tell anyone that I know, Eric, Tesni, Jess, Hybros, whoever, when they drop back into the hall, that I am missing them. I haven't seen them in ages, and now I'm afraid I'll miss them again. Oh, and thirdly, it really was a pleasure questing with you. Oops, that's three, I never was too good at counting! Once I told my men we only had to face twenty orcs in the morning... I meant two hundred... bar keep, another round for the thirty four of us!"

Sylph noticed Boomingham as he was biding his farewells.

"So nice of you to think of me," Sylph hissed pleasantly. "So you want twenty gold?"

"That's the idea, yes. If it's not an imposition of course."

"It is not." Said Sylph, and reached into his sack, retrieving 20 gold pieces.

"Here you are. Good luck on your quest, and when you have a chance to repay me, do tell me what it was for. Au revoir."

Posted

IC: De'kra clicked to Benji, "good luck on you quest. Make sure you remember mistakes of Quest, heroes and I trust employer too much, nor suspect Shadeaux behind plan enough. Remember that for you Quest, even you employer might use you, so take nothing on word alone. Listen for actions too."

Dak walks back into the Hall after his first Quest feeling refreshed. He looks down at himself, and gasps in shock. His cloak, once clean and pristine, is torn and bloody. He runs up to his room to find some new clothes.
