Tanma Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 IC: De'kra watches as the rogue Dak leaves, and wonders what he meant by spirit. Sometimes he heard people in the Tavern talk about spirits, though by their tone it seemed like they were referring to consumable materials. Regardless, he might have to look into this "spirit" possibility. Quote
Bioniclover Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Knifk slowly walked back into the hall, still slightly confused about the events of his first Quest. He walked to the Questboard, seeing that here were two new Quests posted. He signed up for both of them, hoping some mindless bashing would take hisblind off his confusing Quest. Quote
Tanma Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 De'kra glances in shock at another hero walking through the halls. It had been a while since he seen anyone, so long that he had time to dream. Dreams were so wonderful, except of course under the stars. But in darkness, De'kra's dreams were the most wondrous things he ever saw. Of course he forgot what they were about as soon as he woke up, but the joy didn't fade. Still, it would be good to see other heroes even if it would mean less times to satisfy his desire to dream. Xarrzan Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 ...Guts looked at the mug, before tossing it aside, why use a mug, if you can drink right from the bottle. And that is what the rogue then did, he drank, it is not like he had anything better to do. Sarick was curled near the fireplace for warmth when Guts walked in. Although he thoroughly enjoyed the rain, the cold was another thing. Sarick soaked up heat while Guts made his way to the quest board and then to a table. He watched as Guts deposited his items before him and began drinking. Sarick slowly swayed higher into the air to get a better view. He scanned the items on the table. "...the shovel...the bedroll...cutlass and shortsword...a knife and a potion..." Sarick could not place there being any new items. He recalled all of the items except for the knife, but rogues always carry knives so he dismissed it as being new. Sarick watched Guts for a few more moments before he approached. "Did you travel far from the city? Run into any trouble along the way?" Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Guts did not have to look up from his wine to see that Sarick was approaching, only one being made such a sound while walking - or slithering, as it was. The snakeman asked: "Did you travel far from the city? Run into any trouble along the way?" Guts grinned as he said that, even though Sarick could not see that, it was not hard to hear the amused tone in the rogue's voice: "Alright Scaly, this is what happened. There was a ship waiting for us, we left the island, as the 'general' promised. If I told you the journey was noteworthy, I would lie. No storms, no seamonsters, hell - not even a bloody pirate. The ship took us southwards, to the city of Miranda. There, Sorrow - or Sorona, if you will - and General Haroka decided to lay on the beach for an undefined amount of time. After some time, they just told me to leave... So I snuck on a ship heading back to Eubric, and here I am. There was no suspicious behaviour by the two of them, no dark rituals and no magic." Guts got increasingly agitated, telling the story to Sarick, after taking another big sip to calm himself down, Guts continued: "This trip was not a revelation, they did not try to persuade me into the dark arts, it was not even interesting... The only thing this thing was, was a massive waste of my time." Quote
Xarrzan Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 "This trip was not a revelation, they did not try to persuade me into the dark arts, it was not even interesting... The only thing this thing was, was a massive waste of my time." Sarick listened to the story and paid attention to every word. "They are heading southward...toward Miranda..." whispered Sarick. He stared off toward the wall, lost in thought. Sarick then snapped his gaze back to Guts. "Keep the dragon killing to a minimum." Sarick slithered back to the fire and coiled next to it. Quote
Xarrzan Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Sarick read the notice that was left on the table nearby. It spoke of an Arena opening up. He scanned the hall and saw a Hero he had never met before. Sarick uncoiled himself and slithered over to the Hero. "I have heard othersss call you De'kra. I am Sarick, well met. I have heard of the opening of an Arena and I would like to test my skillsss. I challenge you, De'kra the Shade, to a dual in the Arena." Sarick swayed and waited for a response. Quote
Sisco Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Gilderoy walked into Heroica Hall, hoping to see more names on the sign up list. "The current sign ups are:" Tarn Valco (Rumble Strike) Sylph Solanum (Dannylonglegs) Nyx (Pandora) Dak Shadeaux (Darth Nihilus) Sarick Lanse (Xarrzan) Knifk (Bioniclover) "Much better, heroes. We'll wait a little while longer, but we need to leave soon." Quote
Tanma Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) De'kra glances in shock at another hero walking through the halls. De'kra noticed two heroes talking, and listened in. Some of the phrases were odd in their speech, like these "Dark Arts." What did that mean? Perhaps it was referring to artwork that using large amounts of dark colors, like black. What else could it refer to? Suddenly De'kra saw the more reptilian of the two approach him. After hearing the snake's chalenge, De'kra clicked, "Not bad idea, I need something to enact. I warn you though, I combat skills have big limit, odd are you win. I might not good test of skills honestly. But I will train-fight and you." Edited January 7, 2012 by Tanma Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Dak, crestfallen at no answer from the librarian on the matter of spirits, walks back into the Hall. He notices a new sign next to the Questboard which reads: New Duelling Arena! Test your skills against other Heroes! "Not a bad idea. A little later, though." Noticing Guts on the other side of the Hall, Dak strolls over. "Hello Guts, glad to see you back in town. Have you thought about any other Quests yet? You did really well on the Darkstar one." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Guts looked up from his bottle, and saw the rogue Dak come his way. "Well, well... If it isnt the half-elf with the split personality. Don't you find that at least a little bit funny, kid? Does one of your personalities seem more elven than the other?" Laughing about himself, Guts suddenly stopped when Dak brought up the Darkstar, with a more serious look in his eyes, Guts answered the question: "Aye, kid. I signed up for Quest 20... Gives me some quality time with my shovel, Haha." Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 "Oh, sometimes it seems a bit funny to me, but not often. Well, it depends on the type of elf. You see, the elves from my family, or at least the ones I've met, are quite rude and don't seem to care about anything or anybody besides themselves. But, many other Elves I've met, like Nerwen, are gentler and care a bit more about other's feelings. I signed up for both Quests open right now, so hopefully I have a better chance of getting in one. Hey, have you checked out the Heroica Arena yet? It seems a pretty good way to relieve stress and all, but I much prefer fighting in real danger than the controlled circumstances of an arena." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 "Heh kid, sounds to me you are scared! I, Guts Holla challenge you, Dak, to a duel in the arena!" Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) "Heh kid, sounds to me you are scared! I, Guts Holla challenge you, Dak, to a duel in the arena!" "I was hoping you'd say that. I guess now we'll see who's the better Rogue, now won't we?" OOC: Really, I was trying to instigate a fight there. EDIT: "I accept, of course!" Edited January 7, 2012 by Darth Nihilus Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Sylph chuckled silently to himself as the room quieted down. With the talkative/ awake heroes gone, he felt secure enough to enter a trance-like rest, his consciousnesses slipping into the back of his mind. Quote
Chromeknight Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Nerwen returned to the hall after a long absence. The time at the Monastery of Sem, meditating during their feast and festival to mark the changing of the year had been well spent. The hall seemed quiet, perhaps everyone was at the new arena that she had seen a sign about near the questboard. Before she was too distracted by conversation, she returned downstairs and neatly marked her name down for quest #21 It would be good to get out and adventure some more. While she was waiting she picked up the small codex that she'd bought at the market. The curse of Imhotep sounded like excellent holiday reading. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Tarn came back from watching the first arena fight. His Barbarian blood sung at even this mock battle, and he felt that he had been out of battle practice for a while. He really should try to get a match in before possibly going on a Quest again soon. He owed it to everyone. Tarn spoke loudly to the others in the Hall: Who wishes to face me in the Arena? Quote
Bioniclover Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 "Knifk will fight you Mr. Barbarian. Knifk thinks he will lose, but practice is always goo, yes?" Quote
Tanma Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 IC: De'kra returned to the hall, his mind refreshed from the battle. It was good to battle like that, in a fight where no one will die and with no real ramifications from the outcome. Although this still didn't push him towards another quest of death, De'kra knew he had to go soon. Those villagers had kept going, so he should too. The shade glanced at the list of Quests for the first time in ages, and cautiously signed up for Quest 20: Missing Minerals. Now he could only wait to see if he would be accepted. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Tarn smiled at the Orc Knight who had accepted his challenge and offered his hand. "Well met, Sir Knight. I shall meet you at the Arena. Good luck to you, may the best warrior win!". The two shook hands, and Tarn then headed for the Arena, giving Kyrferath a few practice swings on the way. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Tarn and Knifk headed back into the Arena after their hard-fought contest. Tarn went to the bar and brought two huge flagons of mead back to where the Orc Knight had sat. "To a fine warrior, and a good contest!", Tarn clashed his flagon against Knifk's in a hearty toast. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Guts looked around the hall, he had came back from the Arena, and as promised, he had gotten drinks for Sarick and himself. Guts had a bottle of fine wine, and Scheherazade had given him a bottle of what smelled like a mixture of salt water and alcohol, but was thicker and darker, for Sarick. Guts looked around the hall, he saw Knifk and the barbarian he saw in the arena sitting at a table, drinking mead, Guts wondered what made mead such a popular drink? It was easy to make, and cheap, perhaps that explains it. He also saw De'kra sitting in a corner, seemingly lost in thought. Guts had heard his name from Sarick. Apparantly the short rogue had defeated Sarick with relative ease, or so he was told. Since Guts himself had lost to the naga, Guts couldn't help but gain some respect for the guy, even though he had never spoken to him. At the bar was a strange figure, clad in metal, seemingly sleeping. Guts was just pondering wether the guy was just careless or broke, to fall asleep in a bar, when he remembered he was in Heroica Hall, no one would pickpocket in here, would'nt they? Also seen was Nerwen, who was apparantly reading a book. Guts nodded to his party leader from the last adventure (He was unsure if she had seen it, she seemed really into that book), and then walked towards his old table, and sat down. Quote
Bioniclover Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Knifk returns Tarn's smile and gulps down a large swallow of mead. "You fight well, Mr. Barbarian! Knifk thinks shield arm shall be sore for a good long while!" Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Dak sat, as usual, alone. No one to talk to, nothing. No Quest to go on. No monster in the town square to fight. Maybe he should go tease the town watchmen. What has gotten into him? He used to be able to find enjoyment in the simplest of places, but now things are so much more complicated. Things haven't been simple since prison, he supposes. Since then, he's had the other to worry about, the one who was the real criminal, the one he called Shadeaux. Maybe.... Dak suddenly jumps from his seat, pure determination in his eyes. He can get rid of Shadeaux, not by rejecting him as he has done for so many years, but by accepting him. Dak, in that instant, realizes one simple fact that stops the constant pressure on his mind, the constant stream of evil intentions. This simple fact is that he can't do anything about his heritage any more than he can do something about his mother's death. In releasing his constant worrying, a new sense of duty and calm washes over him, and he straightens, as if all the weight in the world has been taken off his shoulders. He stops concentrating on the past. His vision swims suddenly, and the colors of the world seem brighter, the details sharper. He sees Guts sit down, Nerwen swat at a fly buzzing at her ear, Knifk talk to a Barbarian, and the man in the metal mask stir, all in the same instant. He walks over to Guts. "Split personality gone." Quote
Chromeknight Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Nerwen sighed. The merchant had been right, the first chapter was a doozy. She was keen to see how it all turned out. But she couldn't spend the whole day reading. The warmth in the bar was getting a little oppressive, so she got up to wander. Perhaps she'd check out this arena thing. Quote
