I Challenge you to a battle in the arena

"Ha! Alright, if you care to be beaten soundly. Elven, eh? Does not suprise me. That species is a bit more foolish than most, especially the Brobric variety. However, species matters not! TO THE ARENA!"

Alisha's final cry thunders outward, and it would seem that the whole world can hear her yell.

Everyone, I have been running a lie all the time. I am not human. I am a Brobric Elf. I hated them. They treated me like dirt on their feet. I couldn't stand their superiority. But most of all, I hate Keveak. He humiliated me. So I ran out, to go to Heroica. 2 guards stood in my way. I took out 1, my brother the other. He joined Heroica, then had to run. I joined Heroica.

Tomas, that is why I wanted to kill the Elves in our first quest.

I am sorry for lying to you. You must understand I had to. For I am a fugitive.

Tomas takes another sip of buttermilk and raises an eyebrow. 'An Elf, huh?' he thought to himself.

"I can't say I was very fond of Keveak when I met him either. I don't think he deserved his fate in the end, but I certainly didn't like him or his overconfident entourage."

"Don't feel bad, Leo. We all voted to kill the Elves - even I did. That's just as much my fault as it is yours."

Tomas then heads off to the Arena to watch the battle between Leo and Alisha.

Alisha walked back from the Arena. She had been defeated, yet there was no sense of loss. She felt....empty. She had thought for a moment that the Knight might have been the man the Hag spoke of, but he was not. She could tell when she saw the look in his eyes as she pulled him out of the pit. Fear was in those eyes, but victory as well. The Hag had spoke of a young man with a scar, but Sir Leo Aragorn was not the right one. Alisha was sure of it now. She would have to keep searching. Surely there had to be more Heroes than this. All the closed Quests on the Board listed names, so meant that she would have to find all these people and find out which one was the right one. But for now, until another Quest was opened, she was still stuck here, in this desolate Hall.

Tomas walks back into Heroica Hall after his training, but he looks significantly different from when he left. The most striking thing about him is the look in his eye. He had always been very wise and intelligent person, but now there was a look of complete confidence in his eyes that had definitely not been there before.

As he passes the quest board, he notices a new piece of paper on it. "A new quest already! I must say, I'm surprised."

Tomas then wastes no time in signing up for Quest 23: Guarding the Guards.

That over with, Tomas heads back upstairs to the bar, where he finds that his old friend Benji had woken up for a nap.

"Benji, you're finally awake! How are you?"

Down the road coming to the hill the sound of clinking gold and creaking wheels can be heard approaching Heroica Hall.

"What the devil?" several guards question at the sight of an old (very old) monk meets their eyes. What is more surprising is the load that he bears in his wheeled trunk. It is a combination of gold, paper, ink, and weapons, not to mention a few oddities.

"Who the devil are you?" demands one fellow of him. For a man who has taken the vow of poverty, he does seem somewhat wealthy with an $100 bill hanging prominently out of his wagon, not to mention the pieces of gold as well.

"Please, I would prefer if that name were not mentioned in my presence. I am a hermit.

"Ah! Of what race?" the guards ask.

"Of the 'hermit' race."

"Since when have the 'hermits' been a race?" question the guards doubtfully, bordering, perhaps, on annoyance at his somewhat impudent manner.

"You look as human as any," suggests a younger guard.

"Indeed, I thought the same thing myself," answered the monk, "in fact, my whole life I believed I was a human, but when I became an hundred and fifty years of age, I determined that I indeed was not a human, but, not knowing what to make of myself, I have been calling myself "just a 'hermit'" ever since then."

"So, how old are you now, 'hermit'?" laughed one guard, although in all honesty, he was not sure why.

"Over three times the age I was when I learned that I was no mere human," replied the man of the cloth.

"Well then, ancient of days--"

"I would that you refrain from referring to me as such. There is only one--"

"Alright, alright! Anyways, welcome to the Hall of Heroica. What is your business here?"

"I have come in search of gold and treasure."

"What!?!" gasped a guard. "I thought you were a man of the cloth."

"Indeed, I am," responded the monk.

"Then, having taken the vow of poverty. Why do you come here in search of the very things that you vowed to not lust."

"Do not question the workings of the messengers of God," declared the monk, avoiding the issue raised. "Perhaps you question it because you are not a son of God. Earn your salvation with a pitance to God or you shall rot in Hell. Surely salvation is worth more to you than a few pieces of gold that do perish--"

"Umm...I will have your name then."

"Do not interupt a man of God as he..." with that the monk proceeded to lecture the guards for all of an hour on their adultered virginity and other such things until finally each guard handed him a gold coin to silence him.

"Your way to salvation appears brighter," the monk reassured them.

"May I have your name then?" inquired the leading guard.

"Monk Pretzel," the monk replied, "and these are my ninety-nine pieces."

"Ninety-Nine pieces? I looks more like twenty to me."

"Ninety-Nine half-pieces is the correct term. I had ninety-nine pieces in total, which I hung as ornaments on the cathedral door, but the priest considered them sack-religious and tore them down, banishing me from the church. I have been a hermit since then and have carried the ninety-nine half pieces with me, while the other half are hidden in a secret cavern in--"

"You need not tell me where your secret is hidden. Come now into the hall."

"You are too kind!"

"It is the least I can do," said the somewhat exasperated guard wondering how he could have let the old man ruin so much of his day.

"What a dreadful fellow," he muttered once the monk had passed through the doors. "I hope he leaves on a quest soon, or else is banished."

PS: Will add more pictures if time permits. Hope I did the signature part right.

Elgar saw the new quest on the bored but it closed in 8 days time. That was too soon to leave the comforts of the hall behind

OOC: be this I mean I am going on holiday for a week starting Saturday so if quest 23 closes early I may not be ready for it

:hmpf_bad: "Confident" it says. It requires a confident team. Humph! I am guessing that they desire at least somewhat experienced members for this then.

No! You can sign up. The "confident" is more a roleplaying thing or your character's personality. In reality, a scared adventurer wouldn't sign up for searching for ghosts in the middle of the night in a forest. If you feel like you can take on some undead with a team, you can sign up. In addition, you are a cleric, which would be even better. I hope that description didn't turn away any others.

"If that is the case, then I feel my level of confidence has been boosted. Besides, the gold does sound good, and there are no doubt a lot of heathen out there who need converting. :sadnew: Although, I am really uncertain whether the undead can still be converted. :sceptic: I am uncertain of whether or not I will do well, but hell...ooops, as a monk, I can't say that, I may as well give it a chance. If I am not excepted, well then that's that."

Said Monk Pretzel. "Oh, and I shall have to take my 99 pieces with me."

So saying, he signed his name (thanking God that he was a monk, and therefore could actually write) for Quest 24: Hunt for the Draugr.
