Scubacarrot Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 A man runs into Heroica Hall, the patrons can tell from the uniform he is wearing, that he is a member of the Town Watch. The man seems rushed and speaks: "Attention, Heroes! The closing date of the sign ups for Quest #23: Guarding the Guards, has been set forward to Saturday the 18th!" After that, the man quickly backs off, and rushed out of the hall. The same man the heroes watched running in the hall earlier, comes back in the hall, and speaks tiredly: "*pant*pant* Due to correspondance we have received, the deadline is back to its original date, the 29th! *pant*" Obviously exhausted, the watchman runs back out the hall, ignoring all the staring looks. Bricksandparts Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Johon decides to take the Aquamarine for his share. He then offers 105 gold for the Sapphire. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Johon thanks Atramor and takes the gold. Johon shrugs and begins walking away. Then turns back. "Actually, my name is Johon." Quote
Jebediahs Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Alexis walks into the hall after her quest. It is good to be home she thinks to herself. She sees that there's a quest on the board and she signs herself up for Quest #23. As Alexis continues into the bar, she sees the phoenix that Nur has, and walks over to him to talk to about it. "What a cute little bird you have there Nur. Do you have a name for it? I suppose I could ask it if it has a name if you want." "Ah, what a good idea. I had forgotten your type has a way with animals." Nur set the baby phoenix on the table and chuckled as it hopped about. "Perhaps a pleasant melody from your flute might also be helpful." He wondered if he slew the bird once it reached adulthood if he could then harvest an endless supply of phoenix essences. Dismissing the thought as too cruel Nur pondered how much he could get for the bird on the black market. At least 500 gold no doubt. En Sabah Nur grinned. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Johon sees Alexis and Nur looking down at the baby Phoenix. It was cute, even he had to admit that. With that he leave the hall. (Not forever... Just to go run an errand.) Quote
Masked Builder Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Alexis turns to the phoenix when Nur finishes talking. ["Hello phoenix, what is your name?] [My name is Mandy. I was born only 30 years ago. It is nice to be somewhere new rather than with that awful man on the island.] Alexis turns to Nur who has been watching the conversation avidly. "She says her name is Mandy. Quite a lovely name if you ask me. If you are willing, I would like to take her off your hands. I would pay you a reasonable sum, I'm sure we could agree on something." She smiled. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Johon return to the hall. It turned out he had gone out and found an area to build a house on. He hadn't had one yet. He brought a piece of parchment with some scribbles written on it and a picture of a house. He then walks up-stairs to Alexis and Nur. He takes out the parchment and shows it to them. It is an average house with supplies listed in the corner. "I'm building a house. I was just wondering if anyone here would be willing to help. I'd be willing to do you a favor. I could probably get food for the Phoenix and teach it to learn to fight..." Quote
Bricksandparts Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Johon jumps off the stairs. He lands on his feet and his hands and gets up. He had not made the mistake to try landing only on his feet this time. He gets up, walks over to the quest-board, and jumps up onto the edge of the stairs. He pulls himself up and over the rails. He then walks down the stairs and leaves the hall. --- Johon walks outside and gets a stick. Using the stick, Johon practices his fighting and strength. He finds some more sticks and gets up. He takes out his knife and sharpens the sticks into javelins. He then walks out to his future home. He practices his throwing, then hunts a deer. As he stalks toward the deer, he realizes that it's on a bad leg. He walks toward the deer, as it scampers away. "I mean no harm." The deer then sees the Zothen and seems calmed. But as Johon walks back toward the deer, it runs away. --- Johon fells some trees and walks back to his home. He drops the wood and goes back to get more. After about an hour, Johon have gathered a fair amount of wood. He decides to go to the market-place and get some tarp. He returns with some tarps and covers the wood with it. Then he decides to return to the hall. Quote
Jebediahs Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 En Sabah Nur raised an eyebrow at Alf's proposal to build a house. He'd like to see the finished project. As his attention returned to Alexis and Mandy, Nur's mind began to wander. He saw a vision of a young girl with a flaming gumball blasting the poor phoenix and cackling as it reconstituted itself before she hit it with another spell and cackled even harder. This led to the thought of Nur about to be attacked by a critical hit and Mandy intervening to absorb the blow before turning to ash. No, that was no better fate for the bird than the abusive mage. Nur continued to watch the evoker and phoenix interract and smiled lightly. He did have a high regard for magical beings and the idea of this poor bird in the wrong hands turned his stomach. The black market is not the best place for little Mandy. This Evoker on the other hand seemed a perfect fit. I believe she showed me a giant magic thunderbird before our quest truly began. Perhaps the birds will get along well... Nur's eyebrow raised again as another thought occurred to him. With his new profession the elf's magic flute would be a welcome addition to his collection of magical trinkets. Hm, let's not be greedy... "Well Alexis, I can't think of a better pairing. I'll part with her for 100 gold." Quote
Quarryman Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Atramor holds up 120 gold. Thoroughly amused by the rogue and the barbarian trying to outbid each other for her sapphire Namyrra after a while realizes the two have stopped, panting and clearly exhausted from the mental ordeal. () "Offer accepted." Namyrra accepts the 120 gold from Atramor, and gives him the Sapphire in return. "So if you guys will excuse me I need to go do some shopping, and drop by the training room I think. See you guys, it was splendid to go questing with you! " Quote
RPGer Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Durkon walked out of the Hall and headed toward the Fishmarket. His thoughts were......clouded by anger....... His expression unreadable, he walked through, not even seeing a "loan shark" called Gurnam. Ahead of him Donny Dozenhands raced, a step ahead of a Town Watch guard. But Durkon was lost in thought, not seeing anymore, he remembered. Today was their annaversery.....Today was that date......Today was the day that she died, no not died, murdered by the thieveing Wolfgang....... He blindly thundered ahead and raised his head and screamed...not a regular scream, but an painful and terrible true hate of the Wolfgang. Opening his eyes he saw a pair of Wolfgang thieves pickpocketing a lady's purse. Two enormous bolts of lightning roared down from the sky into their wretched bodies. He ran back to the Hall, pushing his limits of life. But he did not feel his body. Stumbling into the Hall, lightning crackled around him as he thundered into the Library, the one place that could stop thinking about that. It soothed him to be in the Library, it reminded him of the elvish libraries in Waldark Forest, it made him think of knowledge as he threw himself down into a chair and read about demons. Something in him was acting like a demon...no..it..........NO...it could not be, he had deafeated Abraxas inside him 756 years ago, but in his heart he knew that the demon was turning him into a madman of evil. He doubled his efforts, he would live through this, he would do it for her. For her. Quote
Masked Builder Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Alexis look at the Phoenix while she considered Nur's offer. It was a phoenix she was buying from him and they weren't common in any way. 100 gold sounded like a pretty fair offer. She doubted she'd get another chance at getting a Phoenix again. "Alright Nur, the 100 gold is yours." She takes 100 gold out of her pouch and gives it to Nur. It was time she wrote to Althior. Quote
CMP Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) "Say, Nur. Is that dagger," Atramor waves towards the Sangriste Dagger. "up for sale? 25 coins sound like a good enough deal?" Edited February 16, 2012 by CallMePieOrDie Quote
Jebediahs Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 En Sabah Nur nods at the reply from Gurnam. Hm, a lot of paper work. Quite efficient though. Nur accepts the 100 gold and passes his baby phoenix to Alexis. "You're better off with her, little one. Take care you two." Not knowing if the bird understood him, Nur heads to the market place when he's stopped by Atramor. "Eh, I'm afraid not. It's not a particularly impressive weapon but I've had it a long time. It has no backstory, it wasn't a keepsake from my father or anything but I don't plan on parting with it." Quote
RPGer Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 "Hey, ranger I challenge you to a fight in the Arena." Quote
Xarrzan Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Sarick slithers back into the hall. It is obvious something is wrong with him. He usually wobbles and sways but this time it seems more like a drunken dance. He finds an empty table and flops his upper torso onto it. "...I...hate...time...travel," he states before losing his lunch onto the table. That seemed to help a bit because he spent the next few moments cleaning up himself and the table. He then looked around for Nyx with half closed eyes. "Nyx...what happened in the present and to the assassin?" Quote
Zepher Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Boomingham strode in, quietly. He did not follow the naga to the table - he had not had time to properly bond with any of his quest mates. Besides the fact that their quest had been cut short, Boomingham had been extremely distracted, and this effect seemed to continue as he sat down quietly at a table near the back of the hall and accepted a drink from Scheherazade without any comment. Bart zoomed nervously around his head. "Boomingham.... Boooooooooomingham, you have to cheer up. You're not use to anyone like this. You're a Paladin. A server of a Holy Order. It is morally wrooooong of you to put yourself before others. I read something as we came in. Some guards need guarding. Go sign-up for that! you need to protect them. So what if time travel didn't work out. Boooooomers. Boomingham, listen to me, I'm ordering you to get up, yes ordering, and remember where you and I stand in the great chain of being, not to pull rank, but I'm pulling rank, and you muuuuuust-" Boomingham swats at Barty, quickly and expertly slamming him into the table. Boomingham lets his little foe escape after some struggling, but Bart remains silent now, and sits next to his Paladin, glancing up every once in a while. Quote
legobodgers Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 After his previous quest was cut short, Amorith immediately signed up for Quest #23 Guarding the Guards. He sat down next to Sarick, he was interested to hear Nyx's reply. OOC: When Sisco gets the quest back up, will the heroes chosen have priority if they are still in the hall? Quote
Mibbiwocket Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 (edited) All of these accomplished and somewhat scary-looking heroes that Olin had never seen before made him fell a little intimidated. He nervously inched away further from them, until Sparky the cat decided to go over and swat at Boomingham's angel, thinking he was a moth. Edited February 17, 2012 by Mibbiwocket Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Scheherazade, may Cronk have another flagon of buttermilk please? Oh. Cronk notice fellow paladin have angel too! Hello fellow paladin! Cronk's name is Cronk. Cronk does not believe Cronk has met fellow paladin before. Quote
Zepher Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Barty flies to Cronk's ear quickly. "Look, Mr. Cronk, I'd like to thank you for trying to cheer up Mr. Boomingham, but I don't think that you're the proper company for him right now. You see, he's in a little bit of a funk, and he's not a fan of your... kind, yes, I know, such a base word, but I can't think of another, so, I'm ordering you, yes, ordering, to move along, please! Thank you, I'd really be so incredibly thankful if you'd go ahead and shooooo-" Boomingham signals for Barty to be quiet. "Excuse him. Sit down, chap. I have a few questions for you. Tell me your name. Your rank. What are you doing in the hall? How did you weasel your way in? Why are you a Paladin? You are aware that the Veterans fought against your kind, and the Paladins did likewise. Though I guess-" "-stop it now, Lawrence. Don't be sour." "I'm not being sour. I want answers from him." "You're being sour. Stop it." Boomingham seems honestly taken aback that his behavior could be viewed as rude. He looks back to Cronk, still standing awkwardly. "Please sit. Let's begin with names. I'm Boomingham. Who are you?" The ice in Boomingham's voice is still there, but he tries to force a smile. Quote

Though I guess-" Cronk already say Cronk's name was Cronk. Cronk took bath after Cronk become Paladin so Cronk is not currently rank. Cronk is in hall because Cronk is Hero. Cronk just open door to get in. No weasels involved. Cronk would like to see weasels open big heavy doors. Cronk big fan of animals doing funny things. Cronk is paladin because Cronk follow Ennoc, the Righteous Light. Cronk believe in Truth, Justice, and Bashing Evil. Cronk aware many people not like Orcs. Cronk understand that Cronk's people did many things long ago that were terrible and wrong. But Cronk not do those things. Cronk only want help people and bash evil. Cronk hopes to fight prejudice by enlightening beings that not all Orcs evil. Cronk like Boomingham's angel. Much more talkative than Cronk's. Cronk would describe Cronk's angel as stoic. Beautiful but stoic. Quote
Zepher Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 (edited) Boomingham regards Cronk with a mixture of shock, disgust, and confusion. And maybe a little admiration. "I'm sorry chap, you're right, you did already give your name. Time travel... throws you for a loop. Are... you're not joking, are you? You really don't understand what I was saying?" Boomingham stares at him some more. "I... I don't know what to do with you, to be honest. You seem innocent enough, and unless you're pulling a poor old man's leg, I trust that you're telling the truth. You don't seem capable of lying, at least..." Boomingham continues to regard Cronk. "Do... what do you mean you didn't do those things? You're an Orc. Do you understand what you did? What your people did? Is Ennoc back? No. No, it is not. The Paladins are... they're not the same. And this island... it is not the way the world once worked. Did you ever meet your grandfather, your great-grandfather? They can probably tell you stories of the war. You are still of the same people who caused so much pain and suffering, and yet you think you have the right-" "-you're working yourself up again." "-and yet you think that you can claim no responsibility? You have no remorse for these actions? Don't you feel guilty? You've sprung from these creatures. You know they have done horrible things. And some things, once done, cannot be undone, no matter what happens." Edited February 17, 2012 by Zepher Quote

Cronk feel terrible about things that happen before Cronk born but Cronk cannot change them. Cronk can only move forward and do good things. Cronk trust to Ennoc that Cronk's attempt at changing world have some effect, even if it only change world tiny bit. Cronk not sprung from creatures. Cronk's Mommy was famous Orc tailor. Cronk's Daddy was librarian. Cronk miss both very much since Cronk's exile from Goblonia. Cronk never met Cronk's Pappy or Great-Pappy. But Cronk hear tales from Cronk's Gram Gram. Cronk's Gram Gram come from these lands. Gram Gram never tell Cronk why Gram Gram leave but Cronk suspect Gram Gram not like war either. What about Paladin Boomingham? Is Boomingham responsible for any terrible act done by humans in history? Cronk think not. Cronk hopes that Boomingham can move past race issue and be Cronk's friend. Cronk likes making new friends.
