Barty taps Boomingham nervously, and the great man lurches awake.

"Some of the heroes are leaving."

Boomingham nods sleepily and staggers to his feet. He makes his way over to Atramor first, and, half for balance reasons, hugs the much smaller man, nearly crushing him. "You watch out, little guy. I don't trust those Orcs, and you've got one. You're a good kid. I think my son maybe grew up like you, you know. It was good to see you again."

Boomingham teeters away from the man, and rams into Rufindel, his first party leader. "Ruffi, you're a good man... elf... too. I never got to ask you if you saw action in the Orcish Wars... those were some great times.... some terrible times, but some great times. Take care, sir. I respect you."

His swings and trips next bring him to Nyx. He holds her close and whispers in her ear. "You're one of my only friends who are still alive. All my other good friends have been dead for a very long time. Please don't join them, dear."

"Watch out for the chicken, Madame Mage," whispers Barty, before carefully leading Boomingham back to the table.

[A most interesting story my fine friend. As for my incarnation thus far, it has been fine, plenty of food to eat, and I do get to spend time with the fair elf. But there is not much in the way of action, she said something about waiting for an "Althior" to come back to the hall.]

As the man comes and plops the chicken on his hat, Mandy flutters back to Alexis' side.

Tomas paces up and down the Hall, thinking back to his old adventures. Ever since he was a boy, he had striven to become a wise and powerful Sage, but now that he had finally reached his lifelong goal - what was there left for him to do? He had only joined Heroica to become more powerful - was there even any reason for him to continue on here, or should he just return back to Maplehaven?

Tomas sighs and slumps against the crude stone wall. 'I've made some very good friends here in Heroica, and it's not like there's anything left for me in Maplehaven.' he thinks to himself as he remembers Cinna, De'kra, Cronk, Master Docken, Thormanil, and all his other friends. 'Eubric really is my home now..."

'But what left is there for me to do? Grandfather passed away before he could tell me if there was anything in life beyond becoming a Sage. What do I do now?'

"Fabulla Sibylla, show me the way..." he mutters as he walks toward the Quest Board, noticing the mustached guard walking out the door. He scans the list several times, but notices that he's not included in it.

"What? How is this possible?" Tomas says out loud. He makes a low groaning noise before trudging up the stairs to have some dinner at the Saloon.

Olinn sighed contently as an influx of heroes march out of the hall. It was a lot quieter now, just how he liked it. As he petted Sparky on the head, he slowly drifted to sleep. Perhaps there would be a quest for him to sign up for once he awoke?

Nur works his way to the top of the stairs hoping to peddle his wares at outlandish prices . "Could I interest anyone in a magnificent Scroll of Confusion for the small sum of 200 gold?

Looking up from where he was seated with his dinner, Tomas sees the Earth mage peddling the scroll. After mulling it over for a few moments, he rises from his seat and calls the mage over to join him.

"Good evening, my friend! That's a very nice looking scroll you have there - any chance I might be able to buy it off of you for less than 200?"

Skrall walked in through the doors of Heroica Hall and once again knocked his head against the top of the frame forgetting to stoop. Rubbing his skull as he tread up the stairs, he nodded to some of his previous acquaintances and took a seat close to the bar.

"Anyone here got an opal they could spare for a little ice?"

Skrall turned to Scheherazade, "Evenin' there Mam. I hope business has been good since I last left. Any new ogre hatin' heroes I should be wary of? How 'bout a bowl of stew if ya've got any."

Skrall waited for his stew and surveyed the crowd. He knew his time was precious and although he was looking forward to a quiet evening with the bar maid possibly, he knew that every minute he stayed, was a minute that a certain individual got further away from him.

Elgar saw he was not picked for the quest. He saw Atramor and Cronk were picked, he first went over to Atramor, after the very loud racist Paladin had left, and said "Good luck, and give Cronk a chance, he is a great hero." He then went over to Cronk to say goodbye to him too. Elgar then went back to the arena to see if those level ones were finished yet.

Tesni had risen with the sun. Gathering her things she set off for the beach, a bathe in the sea would do her good. Although most of her battle wounds had healed, the warm water would sooth the more persistent aches...

After a good swim she returned to the hall. "Breakfast." she mumbled and grabbed a big plate loaded with bacon and toasted bread. A mug of small beer in her other hand, she found a table close to the sleeping Boomingham and sat down.

Amorith looks at the questboard and sees that he was not selected. He was slightly disappointed until he realised that it would free him up to go back to the past with the Ziegfrieds.

Tesni had whiled away the morning examining Zoot's Plaything, she had heard rumour that it would become a weapon of power but had no idea how this could be done. As lunch servers began their work, she rose and grabbed a plate to eat and wait for something more entertaining to do.

"Nur, how much do you want for that Sangriste Dagger? And, if you take credit cards gold after Quests, I'd be intrested in the scroll.

Hoke entered Heroica Hall after what seemed like ages. He had a few more scars and kept his once shaggy hair now tied up neatly. He checked first with the keepers of the establishment to make sure all of his affairs were still in order. He ordered some food at the bar where Skrall was.

"You look eager to get back out of the Hall."

He patted the ogre on the back and made his way to where Tesni sat.

"Another quest under our belts. I think we're becoming professionals!" Hoke said with a chuckle.

Alexis looked around as some more heroes came back from their quest. It appeared that Tesni and Hoke had come back from their quest. She wandered over to Tesni's and Hoke's table and sat down with them.

"How did your quest go my friends? My quest went fairly well, but we were shipped wrecked on an island. That was not too fun."

"I think you're onto something there Tesni! Maybe we can charge a nominal fee for our advance expertise, that is if the Copper Fox approves my bid for Mystic Knight."

Hoke eyed the sleek black orb that Tesni rolled between her hands. It seemed to whisper vague promises to him. Maybe if he just reached for it...

"No," Hoke whispered to himself.

Hoke shook off the whispers as Alexis sat down at the table.

"Hello Alexis! A ship wreck you say! That's an adventure in and of itself. And it looks like you've gained a companion or two since we last saw each other."

Nyx is still sitting at her table quietly watching the goings-on in the hall, most especially the interactions between the various birds with a fine phoenix, seemingly near the beginning of a new life cycle. As she gazes she can feel the warmth emanating from the bird which sympathetically resonates with her own fire magic. Her reverie is broken as a moustachioed man runs into the hall and, with a slightly quivering voice, calls her name for the quest to aid Eubric's guards. Once summoned, she drains her drink from its glass, with a slight suggestion of smoke curling from each nostril, and rises slowly to cross the room.

As she walks she sees Boomingham saying farewell to her fellow questers, but before she knows it she too is caught in his arms. The man is so drunk he hugs like a bear; her new barbarian strength just about allows her to breathe, but her breath somehow still seems to catch. She hears Boomingham whisper in her ear, and can smell the booze on his breath.

"Larry..."

is about all she can manage. Feeling a strange sadness and sense of foreboding, Nyx's attention is distracted by Barty. She hears his warning about the chicken, but doesn't fully understand, or really notice. Instead she whispers back:

"Barty, look after the drunken old fool for me will you? Just until I get back.."

and with that she composes herself, walking straight out the door without turning back, unsure of the thoughts racing through her mind, as Boomingham lurches, laughing and singing, towards the nearest table for fresh beer and fresh conversation.

"Good evening, my friend! That's a very nice looking scroll you have there - any chance I might be able to buy it off of you for less than 200?"

"Hrm...for an accomplished magic user such as yerself, I'll part with the scroll for 100 gold."

"Nur, how much do you want for that Sangriste Dagger? And, if you take credit cards gold after Quests, I'd be intrested in the scroll.

"You again? Aren't you still fighting in the arena? You must wield powerful magics to be in two places at once...or you're an imposter! Begone."

"Hrm...for an accomplished magic user such as yerself, I'll part with the scroll for 100 gold."

Tomas ponders the offer for a couple minutes before replying, "You know, Elphaba sold it for 50. I'd be willing to offer you 75 - so you can make a bit of a profit off of it, but I don't think I'll go any higher than that."

"I have but the one piece of parchment. That green-skinned witch has the ability to create an infinite number of scrolls so she can sell them cheap. I already came down 100 gold. No deal. Looks like I'll be holding on to it a bit longer. You know..."

Nur looked around to see if anyone else was listening before leaning in closer to the sage. "I did hear a rumor that a new merchant will be making his or her way into the marketplace very soon. Perhaps you'll find what ye need at the price you're looking for when this vendor arrives. Don't rush off on any quests too soon or you could miss out on buying some valuable goods. A little advice from one spell-flinger to another. " En Sabah Nur turned to see who else had entered the Hall.

"Well, that's your decision. Come find me again if you change your mind!"

"Thank you for the advice, though! I'll make sure to keep a sharp eye out."

Skrall watched as Nur unsuccessfully solicited his scroll to Tomas. He called over to the sorcerer, "well now, aren't ya the opportunist business man. Plop yerself down on this bench next to mine and fill me in on yer latest undertakin's, it seems like it's been an age since our last quest together."

Conversation had lulled once more, sitting at the table Tesni sneaked a look around the hall, removing Zoot's plaything from her bag once more she held it in her palm. "So Wren," She whispered softly, "what has this got in store for me? Would you be so kind as to direct me in it's use?"

OoC: Posted in C&D for you, Peppy.

Boomingham looks up. He has spent the night in the hall, and his head is swimming. At his table sits Alexis and Tesni, and another knight he has not seen before, but he is human and clearly made of strong stuff. Boomingham winces as he feels a weight on his head and reaches up. The thorny diadem pricks his hand. He can only half remember purchasing it.

"Hello, friends. Welcome back, my dear, it's been too long," says Boomingham quietly, patting Tesni on the arm across the table. He then turns to Alexis and nods kindly, he has already caught up with her. "Madame Ranger, still waiting for your Mage in shining armor to come back?" And finally to the new knight: "Name's Boomingham. King Lawrence Boomingham. Bet I've got more land then you. What's your name, son? Who do you serve under? Where do your morals lie? It's a tough world out there, stick with me, kid. I know... I know how tough it is. You ever seen a war?"

Boomingham nods sleepily, but smiles. He redirects his focus to Tesni. "It's lovely to see you again Tesni. I was afraid you'd forgotten me. Don't think we've seen each other since before Alexis and I were hired by the Hinckwells, but how lovely to wake up to your face again! Did you watch over me all night? Do tell me what's happened since I've last seen you! You'll have to be quiet though," Boomingham leans in and whispers, "I'm a little drunk. Don't tell anyone though, my pip-squeak of an angel won't approve at all."

Barty sits, leaning against an empty beer mug, glaring at Boomingham. "I can hear you, you old fool. You're useless. I wonder if I can be reassigned."
