Waterbrick Down Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Skrall glanced around the hall, the time had come he thought to himself. Shouldering his crossbow he swallowed the last of his ale and bid his goodbyes. Smiling at the bar maid he commented, "I'll have to put our quiet evenin' on hold till I get back, I've got some unfinished business to do outside of town. If ya see any seedy lookin' individuals askin' for me, just tell 'em I'm off on a quest and they'll get their payment when I get back." With that, Skrall nodded to some of his former quest mates and headed out the door. "Now off to find that so called follower of Zoot," he muttered to himself as he headed north out of Eubric Freeport. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Tesni had spent some time practicing sword drills. She had also looked through the hall records, a few heroes had joined while she was on quests, many of whom she had never met. Looking through the classes she found what she was looking for. Hopefully a mage well versed in darkness magic would be around soon, their name was not on the active questor list so they must be around somewhere. Taking one last look around, Tesni decided to head for the beach for a while. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 From the shadows in the forgotten corner of the hall, a dark shape moved. Dust permeated the air and languidly sank to floor, slipping off a tired black cloth. The form unfolded, a dull metal helmet was born from the folds of its black flowing cloak. The head twisted to survey the poorly lit room. A woolen leather winged bat dove from it's perch, penetrating the dark fabric composing the figure. He stretched prodigiously. If anyone were to have seen the display, surely they would not have remembered Sylph Solanum. The place looked different to Sylph's eyes, which looked darker than before. Sylph wandered towards the list of quests and descended upon it. There was one quest displayed, calling for an advanced hero. "good." he groaned, the first word he formed with his mouth for a long time. He brought his gloved hand to the paper and signed his name on Quest 25. "I've been asleep for too long. The word has advanced around me." Suddenly, a thought crossed his archaic mind. He looked around as if tasting the air. "Good, there are no more Druids, I still have time." Contented, he returned to his dusty den. Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Elgar sat down, weary at a table. He was the shocked to see a piece of metal lift up from a table, making Elgar fall back off his chair. Elgar still was reasonably young but felt old, his face now weather beaten and scared by his last quest. He wondered why he risked his life for the service of the hall but then rememberd loyalty, Loyalty to his friends and Heroica. He felt the houses were all as bad as eachother. Elgar looked through the crowded hall and walked up to the bar to order a drink. An waited there as he looked round the hall Quote

Scorpiox Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Haldor looked weary, and his eyes showed the feelings that kept him from rest. Jess remained gone, and with no obvious way to bring her back. Haldor had tried everything from remedies and cures to rest and just love for her. Haldor looked down, his anneverssary of birth had passed, without even noticing it. He wished that she was there to share laughter and the joys of them being together. But it seemed not to be. Quote
Zepher Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Boomingham barreled through the doors to the hall, waltzing and singing on his own, a half empty bottle in his hand. Barty followed close behind. "And all the boys went off to war, 'cause the orcs called your mum a boar, and all the ladies stopped and swooned, when Boomingham received his wound!" Boomingham laughs outrageously and collapses onto a table face down. He emits a low chuckle from time to time. Barty sits on the table top. Suddenly, Boomingham wretches his face up and calls out to the hall. "It's my birthday!!! Maybe. Some time. I don't even know anymore. That's the tough spot in travelling through time, isn't it? I was sealed at age thirty, a week or two after my birthday in the fall. I was deposited here in the spring time... so I've been here for almost fifteen years now, one of which has been spent happily here in Heroica. But who knows? It's no where near the day I was born, but I have been alive for almost forty-five years, and that's the truth. Time jumble bumble throws the whole she-bang off, don't it?" Boomingham collapses downwards again. "You're very drunk," Barty informs him disdainfully. "I should have you kicked out of the order." "Ooooooh, you won't. If you aren't my guardian angel, you don't exist on this plane, do you now? Nooooooope. So you won't, won't, won't, will you? Don't, don't, don't, won't you?" Boomingham chuckles. Boomingham is now forty five years old. He gains no stats. Quote
Sloop Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Helm approaches a large board set prominently in the hall. It quickly becomes apparent that it is where people in need of aid post an advertisement. One, larger that the rest, catches his eye. Foul demons? In need of a sword? He hissed softly at the thought of demons, he would love to sink his blade into some lesser spawn... And as for swords, although he was not a smith himself he was familiar with the art and had even overseen the creation of the blade he now carried. Finding a piece of charcoal, he plastered a large HD across the main text of the paper, obscuring most of it. He examined his handywork and chuckled softly. Helm signs-up for quest #25! Quote
Scorpiox Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Haldor looked up as an exceedingly drunk Boomingham crashed into the hall, bumbling around with bottle in hand. Haldor had not spoken to a real person for days, as dear Jess was as though made of stone, and he wanted to feel like he existed. Haldor stood up and walked calmly over to Boomingham and hauled him with great difficulty into a chair. Haldor pulled up a chair and a mead, and sat with the drunken paladin. "Ha, hello Lawrence, remember me? We met a while back, see? How is the thing be going? Hope everything be being all well for you, and I wish I could say the same, ha." Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Noting Boomingham's boisterous entrance, the shadowy figure--Sylph--slid to his feet. Sylph slithered toward his former companion, with open arms, his wispy cloak coalescing behind him. "How now," proclaimed Sylph in a voice than seemed pleased and properly merry, but carried the faintest whiff of darkness, "This is indeed an occasion." Sylph paced around him whistling a happy-birthday tune in minor. "I hate to mar an occasion such as this with a demand, but I seem to recall you owe me a few coins. Would you like me to refill your drink?" Quote

"Ha, hello Lawrence, remember me? We met a while back, see? How is the thing be going? Hope everything be being all well for you, and I wish I could say the same, ha." Boomingham's swimming head made it hard to recall the man, but he thought perhaps that he had seen him when he had first met Mr. Nur. "Everything is just dandy, just dandy." "Everything is not dandy. This man is delusional. He has been out drinking and fighting. He got an Orc landed in jail just because he wanted his helmet. Where is the justice in that? If I wasn't forced to fix him, I'd go give a piece of my mind to that town guard. They're lousy." "We're fine! We're great! Didn't we have fun Barty?" "We're banned from three pubs. You slept on the street, twice. No, rather, you passed out on the street twice. Once in the rain. You got into four fights. You broke two ribs and were too drunk to fix them so I had to." "I liked you better when you were in the barrel." "Oh, yes, I had almost forgotten, he put me in an empty barrel and sat on the lid for a few hours so I couldn't escape while he flirted with a poor lass half his age. He's been married, for Ennoc's sake, and this poor girl is half his age, but me... in a barrel. By far his worst offence so far. Two weeks of stupidity." "It was my birthday." Boomingham abruptly turns his attention back to Haldor. "What'd you say was wrong then, chappy?" "I hate to mar an occasion such as this with a demand, but I seem to recall you owe me a few coins. Would you like me to refill your drink?" "Anddddddd he's always in debt," Barty grabs twenty gold from Boomingham's pocket and hands it over to Sylph. "I apologize. Perhaps I can get him to be a negative example to others. Put him in the stocks. Tell the youth this is what they could become if they're not careful." Edited March 13, 2012 by Zepher Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Hoke enters the lively Heroica Hall for an evening meal. As he walks towards the bar, he sees Boomingham surrounded by a small crowd. Hoke quietly walks over as to not interrupt the tale he hoped to hear. Instead of heroics of long ago, he hears Boomingham's slurred stupor and Barty's schoolmaster nagging. A little grin starts to spread over Hoke's face as he continues to the bar. "A jug of your coldest water please," Hoke requests. "Many thanks and happy eve to you," Hoke says with a wink. Whistling a merry little tune he heard in the Marketplace, Hoke hoists the large jug unto his shoulder and walks up behind the drunken bad example that is Boomingham. He motions for those around to step back. "Time to sober up my good sir," Hoke announces as he pours the entire jug on top of Boominghams's head and down his back. Quote
Zepher Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) Boomingham takes off his helmet, places it on the table, and shakes his head. Droplets of water soar off of him but his beard and wisps of hair remain soaking wet. "Brrrrrrr, thank you for that, Mr. Hoke. I'm afraid I forgot myself," Boomingham mumbles. The throbbing of his head has not resided, though he was decidedly less drunk in all other aspects. He rubs his head, which still bears the thorny diadem, usually hidden under his helmet. "This is a true warrior," Barty lectures everyone who has gathered around Boomingham. "Oh, go away, you. I'm a fine warrior, just not a fine example. I'm old and foolish." "That's an excuse!" Barty huffs. "Damn straight it is!" Boomingham smiles broadly at Barty. "Hoke, would you mind ordering me meat of some sort, and Sylph here has promised to refill my glass. I promise, nothing hard, just something to take the edge off getting sober. Flaming Gumballs, perhaps? I never got it after my Arena match! Apparently the other pubs of Eubric aren't familiar with it, poor Nyx must have a hell of a time finding it." Edited March 13, 2012 by Zepher Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Hoke pats Boomingham on both the shoulders with broad smile splayed across his face. "Anytime my friend," Hoke chuckles as he motions to an inn keep for some food. "Let's find a spot by the fire to dry off your clothes and lift the fog in your head. And here we go," Hoke says as he lifts Boomingham up and walks him over to a chair by the fire. "Sorry folks, but this eve's entertainment is at an end. My lord Boomingham needs some proper rest and reflection. Quiet conversation is welcome." Hoke winks to the astonished onlookers and joins Boomingham by the fire just as the food arrives. Quote
Sisco Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 It all returned to Jess in a flash of light. She was sitting at the table with Haldor, her eyes open. Haldor was passed out, presumably drunk. "Haldor? What happened?" Quote

Haldor was passed out, presumably drunk. "Haldor? What happened?" Haldor awoke, startled, it appeared that the lack of sleep had caught up with him. He turned his weary eyes to the speaker, and was shocked and relieved to see that whatever curse afflicting Jess had passed, and her shining eyes greeted his. "Jess, you awake! I thought I was never seeing your face lit up with life again. You was gone for long, you not eat or sleep. I tried to get you back, but nothing I could do." Haldor looked sad, but it passed, and he pulled Jess into a tender loving embrace. He gave her back her 13 he owed her. And told her to stay close to him. "I am glad that I seeing your beautiful face again, for you looked so cold." Haldor's face suddenly turned a picture of fury, and his hands balled into fists. "She did it, she made you cold. She will pay for what she done!" Edited March 13, 2012 by Scorpiox Quote
