There are other clues as well, but I have feeling they not as useful. The name probably not useful either, but it something." After a pause De'kra clicked, "You hear from Tomas? Xarrzan Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) A dusty looking man walked into the hall. He was drunk and wobbling. He blearily looked around before opening a parchment and reading aloud: "Attention...hiccup...heroes of this ...hiccup...great hall. The following heroes have been...hiccup...selected to venture into the Quarry to clean it up nice and good! hiccup" Alf Gregory (Johon) [bricksandparts] Hybros [JimButcher] Elgar Gligin [Jedi master Brick] Guts [scubacarrot] Knifk [bioniclover] - *Party Leader After announcing the names, the dusty miner walked out to a rickety cart used for transporting stones. It actually still had a few stones in it. It would be an uncomfortable ride to the quarry. Attention Heroes of Quest 26: You have 24 hours to check into the quest topic. JimBee Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Hybros returned to the hall, and saw that he had been chosen for the quest in the quarry. Hopefully his new earth-elemental weapon would become useful in this environment. He noted who he would be questing with. He barely knew any of them. Alf, the barbarian who had seemed to annoy Eric upon their most recent return to the hall. Perhaps his brute strength would come in handy, but he did not seem to be the sharpest of heroes. An archer named Gligin, a shadowy and determined-looking rogue, Guts. And the leader, an orc knight, of which Hybros had never seen before. He hoped they all would be up to the task, in any case. It was time to say goodbye to Hybros's allies and friends. He gave a nod to Eric, who was downing a bottle of mead. This would be the first quest Hybros would be going on without his long-time friend, and that made him a bit uneasy. He had always relied on Eric's strength and cool and collected demeanor to look to, and he was unsure if any of his questmates could even compare to this. What was he thinking? Hybros was never this dependent on others, let alone strangers. No, he needed to rely on himself. Hybros gave a small wave to Boomingham, De'kra, and the rest before turning towards the doors. He pushed his way out, and boarded the rickety wagon. Quote

He currently on Quest 17, clean up mess I made in Quest 4. He has slight air of scholar, if I translate that word right, and from sound of his messages he know his way around seige weapons. He class mage and power over ice, though he not cold in attitude like ice villagers back home. He also think that Quest 4 not our faults, and that war would have happen anyway. I might misread his behavior, but he seem to think no mistake irredeemable if you try to make up for it, and that mistakes are not same as crimes. He seem nice in general, but Quest 4 show I been wrong before." "Yeah," he continued, "I talk to him during Quest 20 from mountains to Northern Uland, it go far. It still bothers me too, that we were used in such a way as to start a war. I hope Arthur and the others on Quest 17 are able to stop the war somehow, I hate to think of all the bloodshed caused by our actions as unknowing as we were in the whole thing. We were all so young and fresh-faced to heroism that we just couldn't see what was happening." Cinna takes a drink of cider and wonders what could have happened to letters people sent to her. Scorpiox Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Guts' eyes fixed on the shirtless norseman. Haldor, the norseman. While pondering why there were relatively many norsemen in the area, Guts walked down. He walked up to Haldor, gently pushing aside Cinna, with the words: "Sorry, girl, I need to have words with this man." Guts nodded to Thormanil, still amused by his performance earlier, and then proceeded to lead Haldor a short distance away from the group. Quietly, Guts says: "Haldor Skovgaard, I assume? I must ask you, what in Mercutio's true name were you thinking in that village. Do you have ANY idea what you have done? I'm not sure were you learned my name, but that was foolish, even for Norse standards, and believe me, I have dealt with enough Norsemen to know what I'm talking about." Continuing, without his usual calmness, and with an almost maniacal look in his eyes: "They will know you were there, and follow you here, not good, not good. You set back months of me slowly expanding the gap!" As Guts made his way out of the hall, Haldor stopped him briefly.. "Ha, I probably just read your name off the wanted list when I was working for the town watch, the thing was full of the names of men like you. I was in deep with bad things, my friends and me needed an alias. Your name must have been the first thought to cross my mind, as obviously a petty Eubric criminal turned mercenary was not my ideal guise for the quest. You call me foolish? Haldor rose up to his true height, not towering over Guts with a menacing expression. You don't frighten me, Guts Holla. Haldor spat Guts's name like a dirty word. Who did this man think he was? Haldor watched as Guts turned and pushed his way out of the hall. Haldor turned back to Cinna. "I apologise for that, some little worm thinking he can intidmidate me I've seen far worse than him. He apparently has 'friends' about that inform for him, I'll have to watch out for them. Give them some hiding like Wartan is behind me. But where were we? Ha." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Before Guts left the hall to depart to the quarry, with a supply of wine that could last him for weeks, Guts awnsered: "Your words only display your ignorance, shaman. My name is not on the wanted list of the Town Watch, and I am not from Eubric. You seem to think I was trying to intimidate you, you were wrong, if I wanted to strike fear in you or cause you harm, you would know. For now, know that you have made my life a lot more difficult. May the Wheel of life have mercy on your soul, Haldor." He then left the hall, hopping on the cart waiting for him, ready to kill spiders, or whatever. Quote

"Ha, I believe you have taken a wrong turning. The Wolfgang headquaters are down by the docks. You forget that Heroica is not for men like you. We help those in need and protect the weak. Something tells me it is your soul that needs mercy, murderer and fiend. Who do you think you are? You are the scum of the city, the dirt on my boot. You watch the world with your informants, you want the world to fear you. I know men like you. They are the ones who have their heads displayed on spikes over the city gates. The world does not fear you, you fear the world. Take your criminal network and cold threats and be gone." Haldor continued laughing as Guts left for the quarry. Haldor once again turned to Cinna, trying to revive the dead conversation. Quote
Khorne Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Eric slowly stood up from his chair. He pocketed his topaz and slung his mighty sword back over over his shoulder. Taking another sip of mead, he started walking towards the exit. No way he would be able to utilize the full, raw power of the topaz as it was. He'd need to implement it in a weapon. The Nord had been thoroughly amused by the actions an unknown shaman had taken towards two noisy newcomers. If his chair hadn't been so comfortable and the drank so nice, Eric might've taken action himself, but he was glad someone else had done so already. People seem to look down upon Barbarian and the likes most of the them, but at least we get things done, Eric thought. He exited the Hall, passing by a laughing Haldor. Eric simply nodded towards his kinsmen and left for the market once more. Spring was coming to Eubric and the temperature outside was tangibly rising. For a man of the North used to cold surroundings, the South was getting slightly too hot. It was still a bearable heat, luckily softened by cold breezes, but Eric certainly didn't look forward to summertime. Sure, he loved the touch of the sun, but he simply wasn't used to the heat. Normally, Eric would go to Northern regions once the South started warming up, but now he was tied to Heroica and Eubric. He couldn't simply leave. Quote

She laughe derisively, hearsay had led her to believe this Guts a practical type but his current display had given little credence to the rumour. "It's damn tempting, to put the common criminal back in the flea-bitten slums where he belongs. I'm ashamed to have called myself after such a lowlife. But however more suited to a gang than the hall that he is, I can hardly remove him without the consent of our Veterans. Maybe he'll turn, maybe he won't. Either way, I cannot pass divine judgementt, I am no Thoric. But what's been happening so far with you Tesni? Maybe a hunting trip together wouldn't go amiss. But no life shall we waste, any kills must be used for purpose. I guess I could use some new furs for the winter." Haldor smiled and retrieved his rod from the sling on his back. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Dak starts, waking up from the table where he had nodded off. Seeing Guts leave the Hall with Knifk and some others, he nods at Guts, who was yelling something back to a shirtless man and a purple-clad, staff-wielding woman who looked like a magic-user. He walks over to the two, only to see a large woman Barbarian approaching as well. Feeling a bit scared inwardly, but trying not to show it on the outside, Dak continues his approach. He ends up stopping a few feet away, almost reduced to running away, but still, he musters the courage to speak, even though there is a slight quavering in his voice. "Hail, fellow heroes. I don't believe we have met before," he says, bowing and attempting to act natural but still coming off awkward and far too formal. "I saw my companion of two Quests, a Rogue by the name of Guts, conversing with you a few minutes ago. He left in quite a spot of rage, if I remember correctly. Pray tell, what was your quarrel with him? And I must congratulate you, not many people can keep their heads on their shoulders as well when he begins insulting and demeaning them. I certainly can't." Now feeling a bit more comfortable, Dak remembers he has not introduced himself. "Forgive me, I have not even told you my name. Dak Shadeaux, at your service," and here he bows again. "And what are your names? For I don't believe I have seen you here before." Dak continues to wince inwardly at how formal he sounds, but doesn't show it on the outside. Appearances are everything, he reminds himself. Quote

Scorpiox Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Snippity snip snip. "Hello young Dak, I am called by the name of Haldor Skovgaard. From the frozen North. This is Tesni, one you don't want to cross if you are fond of your limbs. At the look on Dak's face, Haldor stopped. "Don't bother with the formality, not really our thing. Damn, I don't know if some of my brothers know how to bow. Har. You are unlucky enough to have spent time with our dearest backalley mugger? He was trying to tell me 'how foolish it was to use his name', but his petty threats only remind me how is undeserving of the name by which we all call ourself. Speaking formally was such a pain, but he had never felt comfortable enough around Guts or any of the other Heroes he had Quested with to shift out of it. "'Tis nice to meet you. Hullo, Tesni," Dak says, nodding to the large woman. "Yes, I wound up Questing with Guts....twice. Not a pleasurable experience, believe me. He was alright at times, joked a lot. But then something someone would say set him off, and he would get back to insulting and demeaning people." Dak noticed De'kra for the first time, exchanging words with the purple-clad woman and another, taller Rogue. "Hullo, De'kra!" Once again speaking to Haldor and Tesni, Dak says, "One of the Quests failed because Guts chose to betray us, helping a woman who had tricked us and a man she had set free escape. The second one was just trekking through a mine, much less of a meaningful experience. We did get to fight several bandits and monsters though, and I got a bit of good loot. Other than that, though, nothing exciting has happened for me." Dak laughs as Haldor speaks of his brothers, but inwardly, he is anything but happy. The wall in his mind still hasn't broken, despite his best efforts. "I...I had someone like that once. A brother, I mean. Damn it!" Dak shouts in a fit of rage, slamming his fist against the wall, not even caring about the pain that comes moments after. Realizing that he was acting strangely, he looks apolegetically towards Haldor and Tesni. "Sorry. You, Haldor, are so lucky to have people that care about you. I, myself, have none, at least none that aren't dead, or missing from my memory. The only family member I remember was my mother, and her death was what drove me to leave my family's home. The night I left," Dak pauses, and his face falls a bit, but he recovers his posture quickly. "The night I left, I took a drink of the water I kept on my bedside table. It tasted a bit strange, but I thought nothing of it at first. As I rode away.....my memories faded. The faces that were so important to me became blurred. Now, all I have....All I have are snippets of memory, small bits and pieces. My mother....I remember her voice, but not her face. I had someone else as well, someone who I looked up to, cherished every moment with. They might have been a sibling, or just a close friend. Whoever they were, though, I miss them badly." Dak's face lifted a bit again as he spoke the next words. "But, that is enough breath wasted on my past for one day. You two seem like powerful adventurers, how have your recent quests been?" Quote

May Thoric guide you, friend. And yes I have been on my share of quests. Recently Tesni, dear Jess and I, along with my friend Skrall and two others, journeyed to Haddon. The witch Lady Wren was twisting our minds, and we found ourselves on the wrong side of a war. We found the truth soon enough to save the town from bloodthirsty rebels. Jebediahs Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 En Sabah Nur was a bit crestfallen he wasn't selected to clean up the quarry. He was looking forward to learning from the imp Hybros on the use of thrown weapons in live combat as opposed to sparring matches. He did grin at not partcipating in yet another quest with Alf. Eager to consume whatever red meat was featured for the day, Nur headed up the stairs. He saw what appeared to be a shirtless old friend..."Haldor, put a shirt on man! No one wants to see that-" As the mage got closer he noticed the man's buldging muscles. "Oh I see...You've been doing a bit of heavy lifting eh? I had heard Norse women are a bit heffer-like. "That's what it takes to learn the ways of a Shaman, and it appears that Thoric has decided to elect me as his champion of sorts, and he stole my chainmail. The stuff round here isn't good enough to hang a drunken porcupine. I guess you're still sneaking up and hitting people before they can shout profanities as usual Nur? Haldor grinned at his old friend. Nice to see you again, we should kick in some heads together once more. How about you sign to go to see that gnome's inventions with me, maybe we could both go. I trust you know what happened last time I saw him, or more specifically his daughter. But don't go telling anyone that. I regret it wholeheartedly. Doesn't sound like much will happen on this trip, but I need to sort a few things out, and you never know, someone might need crushing. Haldor laughed and pulled a chair for Nur and himself. Given up on Jess? Never. She's like a delicate flower, with a knife to embed in your throught. Mmm, Sexy! Ha, I could never leave her, she never left me. Now that I'm more of a human boulder I can rejoyce in knocking heads while she lops them off. And she's damn sexy!" Edited April 3, 2012 by Scorpiox Quote
Jebediahs Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 "Oh, I won't tell anyone." Nur really didn't know what Haldor was talking about. His memory was prone to forgetfulness. Had he heard something on the matter? The defiling of a young lass perhaps? Nur stroked his chin. Oh well... "Hm, yes I shall sign my name after I have eaten. I must admit that science does intimidate me a little." Nur took the offered seat. This Haldor seemed a tad different. He was even more boisterous and eager to fight than the man he had quested with before. Had his friend simply grown or had his woman affected him so? Maybe Nur never really knew the Norseman at all? It was only one quest together... "Who are your friends sitting here?" Quote
Tanma Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 IC: De'kra couldn't help but notice the shirtless man nearby. He looked familiar, but only vaguely. As he glanced on De'kra realized that this was patient zero, the originator of the roam ant Icism plague that haunted the halls. That reminded De'kra that the sickness appeared to have died out while he was away. Perhaps all the situation required was time to destroy the disease, or maybe it was a seasonal thing. Either way, it was uncomfortable to see patient zero so close to Cinna, even if he was no longer contagious. Quote
