Haldor looked toward Dyric and spoke.

"Hail, Dyric! All is good, don't suppose you've met Nur before eh?"

You know, I can't say that I have. Hello Nur, I'm Dyric Rone. You may have heard of me. I'm an expert trainer, you know.

Dak notices another Rogue walk up, wearing a black cloak and hood, similar to the ones he had used only a few months previously. He stepped backward, nodding to Haldor and Tesni and the Mage that had joined them, and walked back to his solitary table. Things were beginning to click back into place in his mind, probably set in motion by Haldor's words. As he sat down, a distant memory, fuzzy, but nonetheless a memory, began playing in his mind.

Dak ran, hard and fast as he could, toward home and his mother. Tears streamed down the side of his face, and there was a sharp pain in his shoulder. Pain shot through his side as he tryed to push himself to go faster, and he tryed to ignore it, but it combined with all the bruises and cuts from his latest spar in the square pulled him down, facefirst into the dirt path. His forehead hit the ground, but was lifted off not a moment afterward, as a result of the older boy lifting him into the air by his feet. The boy laughed in his face, and his rank breath blew Dak's long, black hair back into his eyes. Dak swung, helplessly trying to punch the older boy, Jack, and his friends but failing as a result of the blood rushing to his head. His vision began to cloud, and he prayed to whatever god would listen that it wouldn't be another of his episodes. As his vision became more and more murky, he noticed a tall, fair figure running toward him and screaming at Jack and his companions to let Dak go. Nearly saved, the last burst of energy Dak used was to slam his fist squarely into Jack's nose, and then realizing his mistake as the older boy dropped him to the ground to clutch his now bleeding nose. Once again, Dak hit the path headfirst, and felt his body go limp just as he saw the brown-haired, fair-skinned boy chase Jack and his thugs away, and then come to kneel over Dak. "C-can you hear me, Dak? Dak! It's okay, it's going to be fine, Dak. I'm taking you back to Mother now, okay? Come on," the boy said. Dak was once again lifted from the ground, but much more gently, and he felt the boy carry him toward a large house in the distance. Then everything went black.

Dak started, noticing that he had almost fallen out of his chair. A small droplet of tear stained his cheek, but he wiped it away with a sleeve. Bits of memory, that was all he had now. Bits and pieces of a former life he didn't remember. Damn it all, he thought to himself. Wish I could find someone to help me with this. He stood, and slid the chair under the table next to him. He stepped out of the corner and looked for someone to talk to. There was De'kra, talking to the purple-clad mage. And over there was Tarn, sitting by himself and looking a bit lonely. Dak walked over and slid into a seat near the taller man, and just sits there for a while with him, each lost in their own thoughts. Dak decides to start the conversation. "Hail, Tarn. How are things going, since you got back? You seem a little lost in thought."

IC: De'kra dropped all subtly and slowly turned to look at patient zero with his emotionless gaze. Honestly it was all De'kra could do not to tense up. This infected creature was getting a little too close to a member of De'kra's team, and like a wolf he didn't like outsiders near his pack, specifically those who could harm it. He had the self control not to ready his weapons for battle or shift his body movements into hostile motions, but his eyes never left the shirtless one.

Jess smiled at her friend, then turned to Haldor.

"Hey, honey! I missed you," Jess said, planting a kiss on his lips.

You know, I can't say that I have. Hello Nur, I'm Dyric Rone. You may have heard of me. I'm an expert trainer, you know.

"Hm, pray tell me Rone, what is it you are a trainer of? I might have use of such services." Nur could only shake his head and grin at Alexis's display of power. He continued to struggle with evoking but it seemed a trivial form of magic for the elf.

Skrall made his way back into the hall. Taking care to not get too close to the blue creature that had made itself at home amongst the benches, he took a seat at one of tables adjacent to the ongoing conversations. He nodded to Nur, Haldor, and Rone before ordering a skin of wine, pulling out his ram horn pipe, and lighting its sour smelling contents while he listened in hoping that Docken would join him later on to swap stories.

Haldor stared, De'kra stared back. Something had to give.

"Oh my, very nice blue thingy, Alexis!"

Jess smiled at her friend, then turned to Haldor.

"Hey, honey! I missed you," Jess said, planting a kiss on his lips.

"I missed you too love."

Haldor pulled Jess down to his table, and opened his mouth to speak again when blue mist erupted from his mouth and his eyes flashed bright blue. His gaze turned to De'kra again as his feet lifted him up, his body walked slowly toward the rogue as words forced themselves out of his mouth in a voice that was not Haldors. Haldor heard himself roaring, he tried desperatly to stop, it had gained control again, and now it was moving menacingly toward De'kra. The rogue still sat as Haldor began to raise his weapon toward him, there was nothing Haldor could do to control himself. The attack was imminent, when once again the world exploded in white.

A voice spoke, unmistakably belonging to the God Thoric.

"Hello, Darkbane. You are clearly very misguided. I know how you protected Haldor through his childhood when he found you, but your services are no longer needed. You cannot help Haldor by forcing him to attack those whom he knows and you think are a threat. Control yourself, you were a true hero in your lifetime, but your judgement is not as pure as it once was."

The voice was cold towards Haldor's guide, but spoke the truth. Thoric always spoke the truth. Haldor opened his eyes and found himself lying on the floor.

I follow Skrall from the Arena back to the Hall. Grabbing some bread and meat, I join him at a table.

"So I guess a fair bit of introduction on my part is in order. I'm originally from the south of Ennon, grew up as a free ogre and took up the highway-ogre business when I got out of the nest. Things have gone south metaphorically speakin' now in that line of work, what with caravans hirin' more spell flingers as body gaurds these days, so I thought I'd try my hand out at heroing for a while. I was with Nur and Haldor there(Skrall gestured towards the dark skinned mage and the shirtless shaman) for our first quest pokin' around in the sewers under Eubric for a wolfgang thief. I just got back from a spat with an evil witch of a women named Wren who was tryin' to spark a war in the northern reaches of Ennon. Ever heard of her?"

Skrall took a drink of the wine and ordered a bowl of stew. "So what's with this business of a shield? Yer the first ranger I've spotted carryin' around a hunk of metal like that. How'd ya come by it?"

[Hey, I'm not for sitting on!] Alexis translates.

She turns back to Cinna.

"You've been a mage longer than I have, do you have any tips for a new magic user?" Alexis askss with a smile.

IC: De'kra stared briefly in surprise at Haldor's fallen body, weapon still In the shaman's hand. The Rogue had pulled out Kapura just as patient zero had charged, as he had seen the attack coming. But he hadn't expected the figure to collapse onto the ground. The northern had seemed quite strained as he tried to attack, that was what tipped De'kra off to the coming strike after all, could the shirtless one have not wanted to attack De'kra? But then why do so, unless the plague was more than just a sickness that distracted people and made them "silly." Patient one had just spoken to the northern, could that have triggered the urge to commit violence? The ebony entity couldn't help but feel a little bad about his distrust of the shaman. Yes the shirtless one was dangerous and infected, but it was not his fault that he was insane. Just like it wasn't the fault of those villagers...

Either way the shade finds it odd that the others in this region of the hall don't seem to concerned, though he might be reading their expressions wrong. Lowering his dagger, De'kra cautiously approached the shaman and asked the group, "This normal for humans? Or he not fine?"

"Ah, yes, I'm familiar with Lady Wren, I was a part of the team of heroes that was taken to her arena. That was my second quest after joining Heroica. Cunning woman, she is, but if you ask me, one day, her habit of toying with heroes will be her downfall."

Skrall took a drink of the wine and ordered a bowl of stew. "So what's with this business of a shield? Yer the first ranger I've spotted carryin' around a hunk of metal like that. How'd ya come by it?"

"The shield was originally primarily the pronotum and elytra of a very large golden scarab beetle that my fellow party members and I fought on distant Salmanda. I had it reformed into a more traditional shape around a core of Mythril. It's taken some getting used to, that's for sure, but the Copper Fox is a good teacher, and I expect my new skills as a Warden will greatly increase the effectiveness of my defense on my next quests."

"Haldor!" Jess leapt out of her seat at the fall of her love.

"Wake up!" Jess began to cry, cradling Haldor's head.

Seeing the small one creep forward with a dagger drawn and asking if "this was normal", Jess lost it completely.

"Of course not, you blitherring idiot! Get away!" Drawing her sword, Jess swung it at the small creature, missing him by inches.

I laugh loudly

Well, if the stories are true, I can apparently whip an army into shape default_laugh_new.gif

You see, Nur, on my last Quest, we ran into a group of guards, demanding our names. So we all came up with these wild-

Suddenly a crash comes from beside me, and I pull out my knife and whip around to face what made it's noise. I then see my friend Haldor on the ground, Jess moving to him fast.

Haldor! What... Nur, you wouldn't happen to be a Cleric, would you?

Maurice walked into the Hall after his visit to the marketplace, with less gold but better prepared for whatever he migth encounter in his next quest. The Hall was being more lively then ever it seemed, a lot of restless heroes waiting to get picked for missions. At the moment one of those barbaric northmen had apparently fainted, and a group of heroes had gathered around him. Maurcie sighed and went over to see if they needed a cleric's hand.

"Can we get a mug of water over here? Miss, please lift up his legs instead of his head or he will pass out again. And you others, give him some space to catch his breath."

Dak blinked, and noticed he was sitting alone, no one in sight. Apparently the side effects of the dream still hadn't worn off. He stood, and decided to take a walk, when he saw Haldor collapse, apparently attacked by De'kra. Dak ran over as quickly as he could, but it would seem that Haldor had already passed out. An elven woman-Jess, he remembered from talking to Haldor- was crying and trying to attack De'kra. Dak was about to help Haldor, but it would seem that Jess had things well in hand on that front. Her grief must have clouded her mind, however, because she was trying to stab someone instead of helping Haldor. "Stop." Dak said, and his voice held an air of cold efficiency and command. "De'kra, come with me. I will explain. Jess-that is your name, correct?- get Haldor somewhere for clerical attention. It's the only thing you can do now. Fighting will do nothing." Dak leads De'kra over to the table he sat at before, and gestures for the other Rogue to sit down. "Now, what happened? I need to know every detail. It is extremely important, alright? Any small thing you recall might help."

I heed the cleric's advice, and begin lightly pushing Heroes back.

Jess saw assorted heroes coming to push her away.

"No! Wren tried to break us apart, and that's never happening again! I'm staying with him, and there's nothing you can say or do to take me away from him." Brandishing her sword for effect, Jess snarled at the stunned heroes, and went back to stroking Haldor's hair.

OOC: sorry Tomas

IC: De'kra clicked, "I not sure exactly, but I have suspicion. Let I start at beginning. In I time in Uland, I notice behavior in certain heroes, where heroes get very distract and dreamy about other heroes, often in groups of two. A hero a while back, I think it was a rogue, explain that this beavior plague, one that corruptr heroes and make them ineffective because they too busy thinking about other hero. Wise Sage Tomas say that it not a plague but a necessary part of human life, but he has not given details yet. He seem uncomfortable though."

De'kra continued, "Shaman here first person I know caught plague, that and elf rogue. At first it seem like a quirk of he, although that hero had already told I about plague by then. But when I later saw Heroica Hall, tons of heroes were sick. I had assume it was attack by Wren to weaken Heroica Hall, and distract heroes and disease. After that on Quest 20 Tomas told I that disease necessary by way of ledders, but I know that necessary not equal good. He said he explain disease to I in person. But he on quest now, so I still wait for explaination"

"Before things went to Karzahni I was talk to Makuta, fellow member of Quest 4," continued De'kra, "I trust Makuta, as she help I when I lost memories again, and she and I were talk about Quest she and I take since then. Makuta not her true name by way, I call here that in respect as Makuta were powerful people of shadow in I memories. Anyway Shaman was nearby, which put not I at ease. Since Makuta teammate I no want her to get sick, though I also try to trust Tomas and not panic. So I watch shaman out of I eye corner, to defend. He notice I look, and he seem to get very tense. I remember see something like that before, on hero from I past was possessed by parasite that control his mind and body. That hero struggle to fight it and eventually he did, but that not here or there. There was period of uneasy glances, though I not sure why he upset and I. I did notice he pay attention to his bag though."

"Then he offer Makuta to sit nearby, which make I very concern. I not sure how big radius of this infection, but closer usually mean more risk. So I turn head around to watch him directly. I think that what set he off, or the fact that elf Rogue walk over then. Personally I think it his disease act up, but Tomas had not warn I to avoid sick people, so I not sure. Either way he lunge for I, and I pull out I dagger to defend. Then he collapse randomly. Judge by strain on he face, he was fight urge to attack I. I think Shaman won against urge, which why I not slam into wall by him."

"In conclusion," summerized De'kra, "I think he attack not of free will. It either disease or something else, maybe reason he look in bag. I know from Quest logs that he and elf rogue have multiple encounters and Wren, so she also might exist as source of influence. But I well aware that I don't understand Uland ways, so I might have got things wrong. You have any specific questions now?"

Dak looks at De'kra in shocked silence for a moment, then begins to chuckle. He can't help himself. "De'kra, Tomas didn't tell you everything. This 'disease', as you call it, it's called 'love'. Love happens when two people share so much that they form a bond that makes them care for each other more than friends would. As Tomas said to you, love is a necessary part of life. Only via love can humans reproduce, create new humans, new generations. I am the product of my parent's love. Haldor and Jess....they are in love. Several others I know, or knew, are in love. I, myself, might be in love with a girl I have only seen in pictures and only talked to through letters. Love isn't something to be feared, De'kra. This 'Makuta'-d you care for her? Does she make you feel better than you do when she is not around? That is love, De'kra. That is love."

Before he forgets, Dak quickly runs to the Questboard and signs up for Quest #27: Badger Badger Badger!, then jogs back to De'kra, to hear the Shade's response.

IC: De'kra paused and remarked, "That...weird. I think I remember some squids back home that multiple like that, they fleshy like humans so maybe that connection. Humans come from eggs as well? Either way, I never heard of that action before, and I get feeling that it not because I forgot it. People in I home not made by this rove, and I also never saw anyone act like that. Of course people back home care for each other, lay lives for each other, but not because of rove. I people care for each other because they tightly woven group. Pretty much everyone know everyone else's name in villages, they all brothers and sisters to each other. First of three virtues are unity, and I villagers follow it well. But they feel no rove, and neither I feel it. I see Makuta as great ally, noble protector, and friend, and care about her, but I feel no flux of emotion in her presence save if she in danger or see each other aftrer long time apart. I not able to feel this rove. It...beyond what I feel. Or maybe it beneath what I feel, I not sure where, only that it out of I emotional range. But shouldn't Hakldor exist as focus of concern right now?"

OOC: To be quite honest you have a better chance of a calculator feeling romatic love than De'kra. He is A' all the way. (I have waited so long to say that)
