I notice Haldor getting ready to leave the Hall.

"Haldor, I believe that that is merely the list of those who have signed up for the quest, not those chosen. The chosen heroes won't be named for another two days."

Tarn wanders back in to the Hall, lost in thought. He absently checks the Quest Board and decides to sign up for Quest#28: The Breakthrough, even though he is not quite at the level that the flyer indicated, because he feels that he would represent Heroica well.

He also signs up for Quest#29: Journey to Dastan, as he has not been to that part of Olegaia.

After signing his name in surprisingly handsome script, albeit with his tongue poking out in concentration, Tarn leaves to check out the Marketplace.

Drake slowly dragged himself into the hall, the doors slamming shut behind him. He looked out of a window and saw the sky was black. Must be night, he thought. He walked over to a bench and lied down on it and slept. That day had been busy anyway. As drake slept he dreamt of a day where he would fight the new hero who was said to be called "Loki". Drake's mind clicked as he thought of the name. Isn't that the name of the main bad guy in thor? Drake thought. But then he remembered that thor was a story he had made up and so he forgot about it and slept. He kept on thinking that it was a coincidence and also dreamt of him battling the new hero, again. And in the end of the dream, he won.

Dak sat at a table on his own, a drink clutched tightly in his left hand, shaking ever so slightly. The time was coming. He would have to set out soon, to whatever fate awaited him at the alleyway the note had told him to go to. The glass abruptly shattered in his palm, spraying glass all over his face and chest. Tutting under her breath, a serving maid cleared the mess away, and Dak plucked the shards of glass from his face, shirt, and hands absently, barely feeling the pain despite seeing the blood well up in the wounds. He noted, even in his slightly shell-shocked state, the Hero he had fought in the Arena walk into the Hall and go to sleep. Haldor and a Hero Dak had never seen were conversing, and several others milled about. The sun was setting. He had better set out. Dak wrapped himself in a cloak that shadowed his face and body, and continued out the door, shivering slightly in the cold night air. He wrapped his cloak tighter about himself as he strode quickly and purposefully through the ever-darkening streets of Eubric. A man shouldered into Dak, and the boy spun, looking after the shadowy figure, who was lumbered away into the darkness of the streets. He continued to the alleyway, fading into the darkness as he did so, ready for whatever waited for him. Dak flicked his knife out of its sheath and into his hand, holding it at the ready.

Having studied the quest board long enough, Loki steps forward. Deciding experience is the best teacher he takes to signing up for Quest#29: Journey to Dastan. Then, taking a step back, he ponders his decision and calls into question the readiness of his new mortal form, but is confidant it will live up to his standards. Wandering about Loki suddenly feels the pains of hunger, a pain he has not felt in a long time. As his mortal body grew tired he rested, dreaming of grand feasts in the halls of Valhalla.

Sarick had been in a transe-like state for some time. The commotion of quest board sign-ups brought his eyes to focus. Sarick slithered over and signed up for Quest #29: Journey To Dastan. He then coiled in front of the fire again and swayed to the movement of the flames...

In the corner of the room, I said my silent prayers to Helvetia, the frostheart. For some reason it was just natural for the undead to worship her, but even I know not why. I also threw in some wishes of good will to my "father's" boss. He wasn't part of the divine pantheon per se, but he was nearly mighty enough to consider a god. He became something of an idol for me in my first decades of life.

I can't tell the other heroes about my past in detial, though. No, not yet...

Erik was sitting in a hammock hanging outside the window, looking through his pockets and wishing, without much hope, to find something new, when he was surprised to find an object he had overlooked many times before as just a scrap of parchment had a message from his deceased parents. He un-scrunched it and read: "Dear son, I have someone in Eubric Freeport who owes me a favor keeping an eye on you. Or, I should have said, did owe me a favor, as if your reading this I have probably died. When he feels that you have overcome your desire to jump out windows and flee at the first sign of trouble, he will have a letter sent to you to tell you more about your heritage."

Erik pondered this for a moment, then decided that the best way to prove his bravery was to go on many quests. He climbed back in the window and signed up for Quest #30: Ambassadors of Dastan.

Signed up for: Quest #30: Ambassadors of Dastan

OOC: i have signed up for 2 quests that sign-ups close for on the same day - sorry if this gets confusing for Zepher and JimButcher

Drake woke up with a tired look on his face. He rubbed his eyes and went to look at the quest board.

"Two quests about Dastan? Geez, I never thought that much trouble is going on there!"

OoC: Sorry it's been so long since the last part of Dak's trip to the alleyway.

IC: Dak stepped down the alleyway, looking left and right, knife at the ready. He continues, when a lightning-fast motion in the corner of his eye registers in his braind. Dak whips around, only to see dark, cloaked figures emerging from the shadows in a circle around him. One steps forward, a short sword-No, thinks Dak. Not a sword. A dirk. He recalls these long daggers from training sessions back at home. And that's as far as his memory goes. No more, nothing except for training with a sparring partner lost to the vast emptyness of his memory. The cloaked onlookers backed away, leaving the one holding the dirk to step forward. Two shields were tossed from the crowd, and one landed at Dak's feet. His opponent gestured for the boy to pick it up, so Dak did. Several other cloaked figures relieved Dak of all his weapons but the ones he had come to Heroica with; his longswords. Dak pulled one out of its sheath on his back, making a hissing noise as the blade scraped against the hardened leather of its resting place. Dak sliced air with the sword, nodding at the swift, sharp sound it made when it hit a target, in this case the cobblestones. He then holds the sword in a defensive position, ready for a fight. The opponent came quicker than Dak expected, and the small blade sliced upward, across his right eyebrow. Sharp pain struck him like a blow, but he struggled through it and wildly attacked his assailant. Before he knew it, both the sword and the shield were whipped out of his hand, and the dirk was held at his throat. "He....isss not yyyet readyyyy...." came the voice from behind the hood. The figure whipped around, and a long, sharp finger pointed at another figure. "Yyyou sssaid he would be readyyyy!" Another voice came from the shouted-at figure.

"S-s-so s-s-sorry, M-m-master! I-I did not think - I though he was ready!"

"He is not. You will be punished. Come," and with that all the figures, as well as Dak's consiousness, faded into the darkness.

Dak awoke in the familiar seat of the table he had been sitting at all the day before. He reached up to his brow, and noted a scar forming on his right eyebrow. Seeing something new posted on the Questboard, he signed up for Quest #30: Ambassadors of Dastan as well.

Althior rushed back into the hall, the air of Eubric filling up his nose. Home. He had missed this place, but most of all, he missed her. Althior and Finnegan walked up the stairs to the saloon. It wasn't long before he spotted the elven braid hanging from the back of her head. Althior walked slowly over and dropped his locket on the table. He smiled, waiting to see her beautiful face once again.

Alexis turned as someone put something on the table. As she turned, she noticed that it was Althior! He was back from his quest! All her waiting had paid off.

"Althior!" She exclaims. "How've you been? I've missed you so much!" And she throws herself into his arms.

Arthur didn't just enter the Hall...he arrived.

Gliding through the city on a ramp of ice, he didn't stop at the doors to the hall--a wave of his staff, and they flew open with a BANG. He coasted to a stop in front of the Quest board, and saw De'kra's name on the sign-ups for Quest 29. Interesting...it appears his latest Quest treated him well, then. He resolved to speak with the shade about it...as well as the darker portent that had marred the end of his otherwise successful Quest. More importantly, though, he saw that many other Quests had ended since his departure, and that the Hall was filled with Heroes. "Excellent. A chance to catch up with old friends, and time to meet new ones!" Leaving a quick note for De'kra pinned to the board in case the two missed each other, he headed of to the Marketplace.

"Althior!" She exclaims. "How've you been? I've missed you so much!" And she throws herself into his arms.

"Well, I'm alive, my hands hasn't been amputated yet, so I'd say pretty good!" "Anything interesting happen with you?" He gazed into her eyes full of life. Through all the war and death he'd been through and how different his world was now, they stayed the same.

"Oh we where just shipwrecked on an island, but I think I told you about that. Didn't I?"

"Yeah, you did. Now where's this Phoenix you kept talking about?"

"Knowing my luck with birds, it will try to kill me." :hmpf:

Atramor glances at Arthur bustling out of the hall just as he walks in. With a shrug, he merely meanders his way through the hall, glancing around. Another group of heroes seems to have just returned as well - one of which he was not particularly glad to see.

"Speaking of birds..." he remarks, with a smirk, to Althior, interrupting what was likely some sort of heartfelt reunion. McCafferey blinked beadily at Finnegan.

IC: De'kra returned to the Hall, having found no new answers to his riddles. As he crept in his shadows the shade spotted a note directed towards him. De'kra nodded in response, before noticing that there were three quests, all headed to Dastan. The figure winced at the idea, the three groups of heroes might be cut off from their felows, and accidentally sabotage the efforts of the other groups. It would be like Quest 4 all over again, and even Quest 17 stil has some fallout. But maybe there was a way to stop it, and make a truly positive difference...

"Yeah, you did. Now where's this Phoenix you kept talking about?"

"Ah yes, Mandy. Where'd she go?"

Mandy flies up and lands on Alexis' arm.

"There you are! This is Althior, say hello to him."

[Hello good sir, I've heard much about you.]

Mandy turns to Finnegan.

[Don't worry, I don't like, what ever you are.]

As Arthur begins walking to the Marketplace, he sees a Lion Knight carrying an official-looking notice. He greets the man warmly, and, before he can even nail the Quest notice to the wall, signs his name for Quest 31 without hesitation. Taking another look at the other Quest notices, he decides to put his name down for Quest 29 as well. He considers signing up for Quest 30, but decides not to; the situation was obviously a great misunderstanding. Arthur reads the three Quest requests and decides that all leaders must be idiots; surely they could, just by reading the notices of the other Quests work out the truth of the situation and settle their differences peacefully? Then again, the more they squabble, the more rewards there are for him and other Heroes...perhaps there were no good organizations, not even the Lion Knights, not even Heroica...

Pushing these thoughts out of his mind--he has business to conduct, after all--he finishes signing his name to Quest 29, and in his absent-mindedness signs up for Quest 30 as well.

As Arthur rushes off to the Marketplace, a heavily bearded figure in all white and a lean-looking man in fine clothing approach the Quest board. They observe Arthur's name, and return to the shadows, chuckling all the way...

"Aw man! Right when I get back to the hall the chicken shows up! Eh, whatever, I'm leaving anyways,"

"Don't think I'm happy to see him either," :hmpf_bad:

[Don't worry, I don't like, what ever you are.]

"It's an Aura, thank you very much!"

"I may know why birds don't seem to like you. So, I didn't get a chance to read the board, any new quests up that look interesting?"
