Masked Builder Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 "That might be so, but it would seem everyone in this hall worships one god or another. Mages, Clerics, Rogues, Rangers, Knights....all of them. Not sure if that's just the people I've met or not, but it seems like everyone thinks that someone else in the sky is controlling their life. Your clan might not have worshipped gods, but from the stories my mother told me, her clan did. Forest elves, they were." "Wood elves, I see. "S'pose you c'd call 'em that," Dak said. His vision was beginning to blur, and he felt a bit dizzy from all the drinks, as well as the obviously slurred speech. Looking apolegetically at Arthur and the female elf, he said, "'Scuse me, I gotta get some fresh air." Trying to stumble as little as possible, but still not walking in a straight line, he ambled for the door, and found a water barrel right outside. After a quick vomit and water splashed on his face, he felt a bit better. A drink of water helped, too. He sighed, and stepped back into the hall, walked over to his previous seat, and sat down again. "Sorry....didn't catch your name," he said, apolegetically to the female elf. Quote

Then he staggers over to De'kra, passing the bar on the way and grabbing some water, and says "The main advantage of a system using coins is that if you are a farmer or something, and sell crops that are only edible during say, 3 months a year, you can sell them during those 3 months, and then use the money later to buy things when you don't have crops to exchange. Also, if you sell large items that would be difficult to transport long distances, people can come to you to buy your goods so you don't need to transport them, and then you can bring the coins to someone else in exchange for whatever you want to buy, rather than having to transport a large, heavy item over a long distance to exchange for something." Sloop Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Xander noticed Helm walking towards him, extending his hand and a warm greeting. He rose slightly to accept the firm handshake, then began to speak in an even tone: Glad to find a welcome from a fellow barbarian Helm smiled faintly. "You did well in the battle at the fort; although you joined our party late, you provided tremendous support. If there is anything that troubles you in the art of becoming a barbarian, do not hesitate to ask." Xander talked with the wisdom of many battles and travels, and he silently noted that Helm would be a welcome addition in any future quest. "You are a mighty warrior yourself. A wise and powerful barbarian warrior such as yourself could cause much good...or evil. There are many paths a skilled warrior like yourself could take, have you thought about which you might take. Something tells me you are close to making that decision..." "As for me..." Helm seemed to be lost in thought as he mulled carefully over his words. Finally he continued, "This world is...blighted. Evil lurks in every shadow. Vampires, werewolves, undead, and those nameless things that crawl out of the void, all of these are growing stronger. And that list but scratches the surface. As you and I have seen, the so called civilized races are too concerned with fighting among themselves to do anything decisive about these problems. All too often it falls to those labeled uncouth and untamed, those like you and I, to be the final line of defense against the encroaching darkness. At one time I thought I would be the leader of my people. However, my heart does not call me to that path. To stride the earth and to bring fear to the nightmares, that is what gives me joy. To keep the weak safe from that which would rip them from their beds and devour them is what is most noble. There may not be riches, nor glory in this path, but it will likely be the one I choose. Of course, I have a long dark road to travel before I am ready to take on the mantle of Hunter." Quote
Darkdragon Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Cinna sits alone at a table after moving away from that strange fight/fainting/yelling that was going on between Haldor and De'kra. She is cleaning out her pack and stacking things neatly in categories on the tabletop. Sand and other garbage is filling up the watebasket she dragged over from it's normal resting spot near the bar. She reaches into the bag and grabs some sort of box, pulling it out carefully she mutters under her breath. "What the heck is this? I don't remember buying anything like this in Salamanda." The box is red and white and on top of it is a heart carved of ivory and colored with a red paint. She starts to open it and stops, picking up her magnifying glass she checks it for traps. Finding no traps, she opens the box slowly. Laying on top of a pile of pink papers is a note, she reads it and a tear comes to her eye. It is from her father. My Dear Cinna, I know you are going away to find yourself in this big world. Please know that your family loves you and you will always be in our hearts and minds no matter where you may be. We have all put a little bit into the crafting of this box. When you are in trouble or too busy to take concentration from your task, this box will keep important things safe for you until you are able to get to them. It warms my heart to know you are out there keeping our world safe and making a name for yourself. With all my love, Father. She folds the note back up and pulls out of the box notes from people she quested with, some she has yet to meet but seem to know her, and a journal with a note attached. All the notes seem to be dated with February and this must be what De'kra was trying to tell her about. She sits back and begins the task of catching up on all the reading she missed out on while she was stuck on that nasty beach in Slamanda. Quote
CMP Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Atramor becomes aware of a distinctly purple figure at a table across the room, various items arranged on top of it. He glances down the at the torn page of the quest record, and quickly approaches the mage. "Hello," he greets, with a nod. "I don't mean to interrupt your readin', but, er, you were the party leader to Salmanda, right?" At the urging of McCafferey, he doesn't wait for an answer, displaying the scrap of parchment, unmistakable image of Baba the bog witch drawn on it. "I'm, well, probably the only Witch the hall, and was wonderin' if you were willin' to sell that Witch's Talisman, which it's recorded ya' have." Quote
Darkdragon Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Cinna looks up from her reading. "Oh hi there. I remember you, we spoke ages ago before I went on my first quests. Glad to see McCafferey is looking healthy. You look different, you are Witch now? I wanted to become a powerful witch to fight that horrible Baba." She looks down at the image "Yeah that's her alright. Oh how I'd like to....well nevermind that. As it turns out, I didn't have the skills needed to become a witch, so yeah I'll sell you the Talisman. I'm cleaning out my bag here and was wondering what to do with it." She pulls the Witch's Talisman out of her bag and grimaces at the memory of how she procured it and what the mission cost. "So, what did you have in mind?" Quote
CMP Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) "Oh, yeah. She's...er, fine, yeah. I agree, ya' sometimes meet the worst people on quests, even if they're employin' 'ya. Well, I was thinkin' somewhere 'round 31 gold. And, hmmm...," on an afterthought, he pulls out a Venom. "...since I won't be needin' it." Edited April 15, 2012 by CallMePieOrDie Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Thothwick and Hoptet walked into the Hall, hand in hand, the former looking exasperated. "That's the last time I take you to the docks to learn Humanish" Hoptet, looking rather pleased with himself, boasted his new-found vocabulary. "Whores!" "Ssshh! Not so loud, you'll get us banned! Come on, lets get a beverage." On his way to the saloon, Thothwick caught sight of the Questboard. "My word! Dastan really is in a shape at the moment. Have I been selfish, in sacrificing my time that I should spend trying to make the world a better place, by spending it all with Hoptet? Orang Pendek knows how many Bluto's there are, needing the help of Heroes like me." Thothwick, trying to be discrete as to not to let Hoptet see, hastily scrawled his name under Quest #29: Journey To Dastan,Quest #30: Ambassadors of Dastan and Quest #31: Lions and Lambs, and ran to catch up with his aforementioned Metasimian companion. "Where were you?" "Oh, thought I saw someone I knew, from my first Quest." "There's Humans we know" pointing to Cinna. "Ah yes, she's talking to Mr. Gibbin, my he's changed attire since I last conversed with him. Oh look, she's trading tha- ... oh my!" Edited April 15, 2012 by Professor Flitwick Quote

The Legonater Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 "Well I tried a shot at trackin' down Wren, now that I'm a hunter, but to no avail, it was like trackin' a falcon on a clouded sky. Got back and had a little archery tournament with Bartholomew Docken the one-eyed warden in the arena, set off to try my hand at trackin' Wren again but had to turn back due to some unsavory visitors at the gate. Finally, I just acquired this here new crossbow from the Paladin Cronk." Skrall removed the crossbow from his back and set it upon the table. "Isn't she a beaut' 10x stronger then my pea shooter I had before, but she does have a nasty habit of knockin' people out of reach after a shot." She is nice. I personally strengthened my chain whip as soon as we got back. I've still got some more gold on me, but I'm saving it for a 'rainy-day'. Quote
