Atramor returned to the hall, looking smug over his victory over Althior. Complete collection of magical gems his witchy megablocks....he was already at a new table, sipping his rum, as McCafferey flapped back to the saloon as well, perching herself on the tabletop.

"There 'ya are. 'Ya missed a good fight."

"You gain nothing by fighting the other heroes. In such a controlled, safe manner, anyway."

"Ah, come on. It's where we set bastards straight 'round here. Can't get the bloody words through 'is head, so I beat 'em through."

He gives another cackle - to which he frowns deeply. Those were getting annoying.

Skrall chuckled, "Hold on, hold on, ya lost me at fractal young sir. Ya know what never mind... ya can't teach an old Ogre new tricks ya know. I'll just leave the dimensional hocus pocus to you youngsters." Skrall drew on his pipe letting out a sour smelling smoke ring that wafted toward the ceiling.

From what he had heard of the conversation, Helm could tell he would like the frank Troll. He went over and bowed slightly.

"Helm Delvergrow, at your service. I believe I heard someone say you were a hunter." Helm paused for a moment and gives Skrall an odd look, "How has the prey been recently?"

Pushing aside an unconscious 'hero', Galen approaches the Quest board and signs up for Quest #32: The Lost Children.

Drake woke up quickly as some other hero pushed him aside and cast an angry face at the hero. He stood up and said "Excuse me mister but it appears that you pushed me aside and, in doing so, woken me up from my comfortable slumber. Because of this I am angry. Do you mind if I stay angry?" and then waited for the reply.

"Well I was out on the hunt a few weeks back for a witch, name of Wren, perhaps you've heard mention of her name 'round here. Proved fruitless though, she must have some magic or another preventin' her from getting any unwelcome visitors. I've always been partial to the bow, and the life of a Hunter seemed to fit, hopefully it'll prove more useful in winnin' me some more funds, not everyone can keep away their own unwelcome visitors forever. The name's Skrall by the way, what 'bout yerself, where do ya hail from and what be yer story?"

'Certainly not, please continue. It suits you well. Have you seen many cheerful heroes around here? Heroes should be angry, brooding over tragic childhoods, missed opportunities and bruised honour. Some even say it helps going to battle with a bitter heart, gives one strength and resilience. I wouldn't know, I've never been in a battle myself. Would you like a drink? It will help you stay angry for a bit longer. Oh I suppose you already had a few, sleeping in the middle of the Hall like that. Well it's been nice waking you up but I really have some errands to run.'

Galen slips away towards the doors of the Hall.

Sarick decided to sign up for the other three quests as well. He signed up for Quest #30: Ambassadors of Dastan, Quest #31: Lions and Lambs, and Quest #32: The Lost Children.

"Actually, I have not heard of this Wren, I only arrived a few weeks ago, and much of that time was spent defending a lion knight fortress. That is an odd name, 'Wren', I would have remembered it. Is she one of those...shapeshifters? That might explain your difficulty in find her, though a hunter like yourself should still be able to follow the tracks, unless she turned into a literal Wren and flew away. Witches have the annoying habit of doing uncanny things like that. Actually, mages in general are annoying lots."

Helm took a glance in Arthur's direction as he said this, and he suddenly realized that Arthur did indeed remind him of a fluttering bird like a wren. He chuckled softly.

"As for myself, I don't like to self-inflate. My name is Helm, and I am a simple barbarian, with the aspirations of becoming a noble hunter like yourself."

Skrall chuckled, there was that word noble again, he wondered what exactly he had done to deserve the title. People were all too eager it seemed he thought, to be dispensin' such titles around here, not until he had really gotten to know the individual on a quest could Skrall feel he could accurately judge character and even then it was a tricky business. "Nay, Wren is the name of an ex-hero of this vary hall, her where abouts are currently unknown, but she has a knack for stirrin' up trouble and destruction in her wake like an owlbear missin' her cubs. But yes, magic users are tough ones to deal with, whether fightin' with 'em or against 'em. Lion knights ey? I just signed up fer a quest sponsored by some of 'em, I don't recall them being from around these parts, what were yer dealin's with them like?"

Erik emerges from the arena, secretly greatly relieved that Mr Atramor did not take him up on his offer of a duel.

Mizuki walks up to Erik and says "Since Mr Atramor is not there fight you, how would you like to fight me?"

"If so, I,Mizuki Kimura (zakura), would like to challenge Erik Tyrvarr (Myrddyn ), to a duel!"

Althior walks back into the hall from his recent defeat in the arena. He passes Alexis and pats her on the back, "Thanks for backing me up back there," Althior doesn't stop walking until he sits down by Skrall. "Skrall! How have you been? You've certainly changed since our last quest in that forest. Is that a new hat I see?"

Skrall nodded at the mage as he took a bite out of the fowl he was supping on, "Only a new feather. I was doin' some target practice outside earlier and thought the old blue jays needed replacin'. It has been a while since our bout in the Hinckwell's forest. I've been in Ennon since then startin' and stoppin' a rebellion all in one quest, but what of you? A little forward with that elven evoker over there aren't ya?" Skrall winked. "Did ya go and do somethin' foolish like gettin' married while I was gone? It would explain the new outfit I guess, most married men always have their wives fussin' over how they look and all. Where's that butler of yours? Did he up and get hitched as well?"

Drake yawned. He was absolutely bored. He looked at the quest board again. Then he walked over to a really dark corner of the hall and stood there, watching everyone. Then he had an idea. He always got ideas when he stood in dark places. He walked over to a bench and crawled underneath it, listening to any conversations nearby, whilst trying to stay hidden.

"Married?" Althior laughed, "Oh no! We're nowhere even close to that yet! Finnegan? I really don't know where Finnegan went, probably just going around eavesdropping on people. You weren't on the same quest with Haldor, were you? He told me all about that rebellion,"

William sits alone, once again feeling somewhat lonely and bored, he orders a cup of mead and sits there contemplating the problems of the world as he waits for Arthur to respond to his answer to his question.

OOC: Phew! This roleplaying thing is hard!

As drake listened to everything going on, he laughed quietly. Then drake heard a faint squeak and noticed a rat by his side. Drake completely forgot about staying hidden and being quiet and he crawled out from under the bench, chasing the rat whilst shouting "Hey! Shoo! Go away you little creature of germs!".

Atramor eyes a rat skittering past his table with a knight running after it waving a torch. He rolls his eyes, just in time to see a notice posted up on the quest board - as he approaches, he notices he's been chosen for Quest 30, not to mention that he's met all of them at least once. No Clerics, of course...he'd have to keep the group on their feet. Damn. Maybe he should pick up a few Tonics, or whatever the hell replenished Ether...

This is one hell of a promising team.

Thothwick surveyed the Quest board quickly.

"I'm in. Mr. Harkenshire is in too, so I'm not totally alone with unacquainted people. I haven't met him formerly, nor her, and- I'm the leader? My, my, my. And- blast!"

Thothwick walked up to the Saloon, to where Hoptet was waiting for him.

"Hoptet. I- I'm in a Quest. I signed up for it, several days ago, and I'm in. It's leaving, and soon."

Hoptet wore an expression a mix between confusion, and fustration. "You leave?"

"You'll do perfectly fine on your own for a while. Your Humanish is really improving!"

Wanting to debate in his own, familiar tongue, Hoptet switched back to the Metasimian dialect. [That isn't what I'm concerned about right now. Why didn't you at least tell me? We could have signed up to Quests together, as opposed to you sneaking and plotting like some thief in the night.]

[Even if we had, it wouldn't be a clear cut that we'd both be together. You could be carted off to the furthest reaches of Olegaia, far from any Metasimian translator, lost in a world of languages you wouldn't be able to fathom.]

[Then why not wait, till I can speak Humanish as good as any Human? At least it would've let us be strangers in strange lands at the same time. That way we wouldn't have one of us off experiencing the world, whilst the other sips booze day after day in here! Why didn't you wait?]

[bluto. There are hundreds like him out there, in need of the help of Heroes. I can't sit by when I could be helping to make the world a better place. This may very well be what your life as the boyfriend of a Hero might be. You have to decide whether you can take it.]

[i'm not sure that I can. I thought you'd put the life of a Hero behind you, now that you had me instead, but it clearly can't replace the sense of adventure! I've lost count of the times we nearly died in Salmanda: The Wyvern, the Witch, those sodding carnivorous plants, the list goes on, bearing in mind I joint you group half way through your Quest! How am I supposed to just go through every day your gone, not knowing if you will ever make it back?]

Thothwick merely stared back into the face of his lover, unable to come up with an acceptable answer. [i can't. The boat leaves tomorrow. I'm going to be spending the night in an inn. I'm not sure how long I'll be gone, but the travelling alone could take the best part of a fortnight. Perhaps longer. It's all depending on where in Dastan I end up. I could be away for several months. It'll give you a bit of breathing space, time enough to think on whether or not you think this is the life for you. But I'll be praying to Orang Pendek each and every night that you'll still be here when I return.]

Thothwick walked around the table, and hugged a solemn Hoptet, who neither rejected nor participated in the embrace.

[i love you, Hoptet. Remember that.]

Tarn was very pleased to be chosen, and smiled when he saw that both William and Atramor had likewise been selected, as he had quested with them before and knew them to be very handy adventurers to have around. He had already spent his coin at the Marketplace and was anxious to see how his triple-elemental weapon Helbaerend would fare.

Nyx had been sat with a maudlin expression, thinking over the events of her previous quest as the conversations whirred and whizzed around her. She remembered, however, that that disappointment had spurred her on to sign up for further questing. Wandering over to the questboard to see what was going on she notices that she has been chosen to travel to Dastan. Not only that, she will be questing with Atramor and his still-unroasted chicken again, however the other names on the list are unfamiliar. She shrugs a little, the information on the board suggests her questmates had been in a fight or two, so things would probably be ok.

A broad grin now spreads across her face as she realises with glee what she needs to do next.... Shopping.

knowing today is a big day with three quest parties being announced, Nerwen slips quietly into the hall. Her path is broken briefly as she pauses to let a small dark robed hero scuttle by on hand s and knees, squeaking, it seemed, about a mouse he'd seen. It certainly wasn't the strangest thing she'd seen in the hall. Perching on a bar stool with water cup in hand she surveyed the room...

Arasmyth eases himself into a seat at the bar, tense with anticipation to see if he'd been chosen for either of the Quests he'd signed up for. He was looking forward to working with the Lion Knights again. A pointed ear in his peripheral vision caught his eye, and he moved over to a female elf sitting a few stools over. "Atra esterni ono thelduin. Mor'ranar lifa unin hjarta onr. Un do evarinya ono varda." he stated, bowing deeply and performing a traditional Elven hand gesture. "Hail, fair maiden of the forests. I am known as RuGard, Arasmyth RuGard. May I inquire as to your name?" He spoke stiffly and formally as was proper when addressing a lady one wasn't familiar with.

OOC: Why yes, that Elven greeting was ripped off from Inheritance, thank you for noticing.

Becasue this is an english speaking board...

Good day. A pleasure meeting you. How are you? You are a mage?

Nerwen smiles warmly at the newcomer.

Your dialect is strange. Perhaps it might be easier to speak in common. We would understand each other more easily and we do not want to worry our hosts by having them think we are discussing disturbing things under their noses.
