Guts looks at Dak, who challenged him, the boy's voice was different, maybe drunk or something else.

"I haven't changed, kid. Judging from your voice, you might have. Lead the way, I accepted your challenge before I went to the quarry."

"I'm...fine, just feeling a little strange. Nothing to...worry about," Dak says, obviously sturuggling to keep his tone even and keeping his anger in check. "I'll head down there now," and here his eyes flashed red, "And get ready to win."

"No, I adapted the quote to fit my name...or was it...you know, honestly I don't remember. It was such a long time ago." :sceptic:

"Ah I see. Well that's interesting."

"Alright, so you're ignoring me, but listening to him? You really are a clueless broad..." :hmpf:

"Board!?"

"Board!?"

"Obviously an illiterate one too. It's Broad, not board," :snicker:

I hesitate... :look: "We are an undercover, secret organization. I cannot disclose to you the identities or number of our members."

"Yeah, about that, when's our next meeting Pretzel?"

Scheherazade, the matron of the hall's saloon, had just finished mopping the staircase when the front doors opened and a woman in green stepped in. She was carrying a staff and large basket with a pink bundle in it. Upon closer inspection Scheherazade saw that the bundle was actually a baby girl.

The orcish matron shifted her eyes from the baby to the woman.

"So that's where you've been, Miss Arbour. Or is it missus nowadays?"

The young woman shook her head and let out a little chuckle. Scheherazade nodded, understanding the woman's situation.

"The burden of a lonely mother is hard to bear, but like I always say, a man would only be in the way. So, will you be signing into new quests? I don't think many employers will let you take the baby with you..."

The woman in green shook her head again. "Not in a while, I think. I'm actually looking for the Training Room. But before that, can I get some water for little Elpis here?"

"Of course, just follow me." The matron led the woman and the baby upstairs to the bar. At the top of the staircase, the woman stopped to look around the foyer, and sighed deeply.

"If this is really what you want me to do, my goddess, I will do it. I will rejoin Heroica", Ellaria Arbour said. Then she looked down at her infant daughter. "But what will I do with you, my speck of hope?"

Hybros was dozing at a table when he noticed a woman dressed in green enter. He had never seen her before. She was carrying a basket with... with something moving! What could this creature be? Curious, Hybros snuck up behind the woman standing at the balcony, and peered into the basket. He gasped in horror at what it was and stumbled backwards. Bundled inside was little pile of pink flesh, looking up and writhing, biting its own stubby fingers with its toothless mouth. "Disgusting," he thought. He had known about human offspring for a long time, but had never actually seen one before. Now he wished he hadn't.

"Viviparous... nasty... disgusting creatures..." Hybros had gotten used to human appearance and behavior since his arrival on the surface some 50 years ago, but never, he thought, never would he get used to the fact that they gave live birth. And to think - that little disgusting creature had come from this woman. And a heroine at that! Heroica was no place for a woman with an offspring...

At any rate, he hoped that the woman wouldn't notice his repulsed glare and the fact that he had actually touched it.

"Well, Guts, looks like we'll be going on another Quest together after all," Dak says to the older man, while eyeing the other Rogue chosen for the Quest, a certain Dyric Rone. "Time to get ready," Dak says, sliding the knife that he had been sharpening back into it's sheath on his chest, and the throwing knife lying on the table into its holder on his waist. He hoped that after this Quest, he would be able to expand his career as a Hero further.

"Consarnit. Another Quest I'll be sitting out." The blue robed aeromancer sighed, then went back to his glass of fine Elven wine, a botttle that had taken him a while to procure. It was worth it, though, for the taste of his homeland. He gestured toward a young woman entering the Hall carrying a basket containing a newborn. "Good day, Madam, may I inquire as to the nature of your visit to this," here he paused, then said with a wry, sarcastic tone, "esteemed establishment? There are a number of, ah, unsavory characters about, weapons lying about the floor, bar brawls, and worse. Not exactly the safest place for a youngling."

Finnegan sits at the bar, mocking Alexis' every move. He sees that Althior and Alexis were chosen for the same quest. That means he was on the same quest as Alexis. Having to live with her and Althior wasn't enough? He started to slam his head against the counter over and over and over again.

"Hehe, looks like the Gods prefer you not get beaten a second time, twice now they have interfered before our duel should commence. This should be good."

"Or perhaps the gods chose to stop you from breaking your frail hip, old man."

"Fat chance, the Gods have never liked me, no way they start being considerate now. Anyway, bear with me as I stockpile some wine, without alerting Scheherazade. "

"Trust me, I haven't had much luck with 'em either. If they'd liked me, my mother wouldn't have died. Are you sure that's a good idea? I don't think Scheherazade overlooks anything in this bar. How else would she get all that gossip?"

"Yeah, yeah, spare me the tears, Kid. At least you had a mother, for however long it lasted. But anyway, go distract her, complain about the quality of the food, or something."

Spare me your tears. At least you haven't seen both your parents impaled through the heart, then have to watch as the blood came out of their eyes, ears and mouth, watch as their bones slowly broke as the weight of their body came down on them...

Guts looked at the newcomer, who was wearing a long black cloak. The rogue's eyes narrowed, the guy's attitude was far from ideal, his job as a party leader might get harder than he thought...

"You must be Rone? Name's Holla, kid with the black hair is Dak, or something. Now, I'll forgive your rudeness for listening in to our conversation, but I must say I don't give two bits about the fate of your parents. I suggest you change your mindset, as I care only about getting the job done. For as long as it takes, I will watch your back, and you will watch mine, got it?

"Hey, I got my revenge. That has to count for something."

"I'm not even sure that's anatomically possible. :look: By the way, nice to meet you, Rone." Dak extended a pale hand to shake.

"Yeah, Dak. You should know, old man, you've been on two Quests with me. Or is your memory failing in your old age? For the record, I'm coming too, but Guts here doesn't seem to think so."

'Listening in'? I apologise, I was under the impression that this was a conversation between the party. Now I'll forgive your rudeness as to your own unempathetic mindset. Nonetheless, I'll watch your back like my own, if not more so.

Greetings, Dak. I shake the hand.
