"Perhaps my sense of time is slipping away along with my skin. When did you come back from your quest? I could've sworn you had Auburn hair then. "

"No no, it was its lovely shade of brown. You must be remembering from before I left."

"Huh. Maybe split personality causes some sort of memory conflict.

"I'd be ever grateful if you'd stop reffering to me in such a distasteful light."

I flick open my newly acquired fan. Feminine but functional, this thing could dice a tree.

"I'm going outside to set up some training dummies. You want to practice a bit?"

Alexis returns from her shopping spree, on which she bought herself some new clothes. The other "dress" had been a bit too revealing for her tastes.

*snip*

"Oh good you're here Benji, I've got that potion for you."

Alexis rummages around in her bag, pulls out the grand potion and hands it to Benji.

*whistles*

"Oh hai Alexis! Thanks for the potion :sweet: Where's Althior?"

Dak walked back into the hall after taking a few days to himself, out in Eubric. From what he had heard, the Wolfpack and the Guard were getting it on again, leading to some heroes being sent to assist one side or the other. Doubtlessly they sided with the "good guys," the Guard. Although, judging by the state the Captain was in, from what he had seen of her, the Wolfpack might have won this round. He stepped into the hall, feeling a bit disoriented as he looked around. Almost no familiar faces, except those he had been in far too close quarters with lately, Guts and Dyric. Muttering an obscene word under his breath in Elven, he walks to a table and sits, looking sadly at his old table, which appears to be occupied by another hero at the moment. Having no one to talk to, Dak pulls a small length of black, near-invisible cord out of his hair, allowing the now-long mess flop into his eyes rather than being held up in his usual style. A bit archaic, but it would do. He would, after all, have to make some changes in his life, now that he had decided on his path.

"You know Benji, I'm really not sure. After Ellaria came and visited me, he disappeared."

Alexis glances in the rouge's direction.

"I heard that."

"Oh, did you now? Must have better hearing than I thought," Dak says, humorlessly. "Miss Alexis, is it not? I seem to recall you from my previous visit to this hall."

Posted

"Yes it is, though I don't remember ever talking to you. Rogue isn't it?"

"Dak's the name. Dak Shadeaux, rogue, one-quarter elf on my mother's side," Dak says, mock bowing to Alexis. "Though if you asked her, she was pure Elven...."

"Hah, at least I'm half elven... you call yourself an elf?"

"I was raised an Elf...blood doesn't matter, it matters what your mindset is. I know Elven, I was raised by my mother's tribe of elves for half my life, and I can shoot a bow just as well as any other elf. I just...chose to follow my father in my profession."

"I would challenge you to the Arena, but it seems to me that you would have no chance of beating someone who's advanced like me."

"I see, though most of the older people of my race are against marrying into other races."

I stride out of the halls grand doors and into a misty sunset. Time to figure out how this fan ticks. The ground was damp and soft - perfect for what I was planning.

Taking dead tree branches and ripe apples, I made simple training dummies. After sliding the apple "head" on about 20 dummies of verying height and thickness, I slam each one into the soft ground. The mud acted like a makeshift cement, securing the dummies into place.

"That's the most innovative thing since sliced bread. :sarcasm_smug:

It quickly became apparent this fan had a learning curve. I'd try to keep it sheathed up my sleeve and reveal it with a flick of my wrist to surprise any assaulters - or appleheaded twig,s in this case. One problem became apparent: I lacked the finesse. I'd either flick it too powerfully, cuasing the fan to fly outwards like a missile, or too lightly, causing it not be fully revealed.

"A for effort, kid. Let me give it a shot."

Now that I was in control, I immediately proved myself to the dominant half. Standing with my back to the first dummy, I quickly spun around, the fan spreading out into a deadly blade. It cleanly sliced right through the first dummy. I spun around once gain, delivering a sharp kick to the second dummy. The break here wadn't quite as clean, some splintery shrapnel getting stuck in our cloak. I quickly sliced the top half in half with the fan, threw the fan up in the air, and grabbed the two fourths. Spinning around yet again, I throw the two peice sof wood like daggers. They soaredthrough the air, hitting the "heads" of two dummies. As bits of apple exploded outwards, I caught the fan and took a bow. This transpired in about 2 to 3 seconds.

The rest of the night was spent as I and Sorrow worked together like a muscle, gaining true mastery of our potent new weapon. As I retired to my bedroll in the hall, one thought was plaguing both of our minds: could two polar opposties actually work together to achieve something?

While Alexis is sitting around waiting for Althior to show up, she remembers that she has a Ruby and that she hasn't used it yet. So Alexis digs it out of her bag and summons the creature. But nothing happens.

"Why didn't it work?"

While she staring at the gem trying to figure out why it didn't work, she hears a 'pop' beside her, the sound of an animal being summoned. She looks around trying to figure out what, but she just sees Mandy on the table.

"Wait, Mandy weren't you smaller?"

[Well yes I might have been. Maybe your summoning did something to make me larger.]

"Hmm..interesting. Well I hope this doesn't mean you'll disappear when I put the gem away."

Alexis puts the gem back in her bag, and watches to see what happens.

"Well, it loos like you're here to stay Mandy."

Althior yawned and shook his head as he walked into the hall. The long days with nothing to do were tiring him. He needed to get out on a quest. As he walked up the stairs, he saw Alexis summon Mandy from her Ruby. The bird had grown quite a it since Althior last saw her.

"I swear," Finnegan began, "There is no way that I am being a crap duty with the bird too!"

"Quit you're complaining! I'm not that cruel," Althior and Finnegan sat at the table. Finnegan sighed as Mandy began pecking at his head.

~Three new quests have been posted on the Quest Board (#37 by Capt.JohnPaul, #38 and #39 by Zepher)! All sign-ups will end sometime in July, as deemed by the respective Quest Master.~

I watch as the three new quests are pinned on the board, each more odd and peculiar then the last. With a sigh, I scribble my name under Quests 37, 38, and 39.

Guts casually walks towards the Questing Board, and after reading each of the three tasks available, decides to sign up for Quest 39, with the usual 'Holla'.

The richest man in Eubric... With a man like that behind Heroica, they might actually start to get things done. This should be interesting.

Walking away from the quest board, still puzzled about the #39, I grab a wine glass of water and take a look at the majestic bird of fire sitting on a nearby table. I've seen it before, and give it a small pet.

"She just went through a growth sport, huh? Might not be a good idea to keep a bird of fire on a wooden table, though... "
