If a player in Quest 37 doesn't confirm tomorrow, someone else who signed up will be chosen instead. Speak up if you want to go on the quest.

I forgot to sign up, and I would love to go on the quest.

Johon stands / writes his name to continue in the absence of the other player.

OOC:Same here, just let me do some shopping at the Marketplace first.

IC: Dak silently walks back towards the Questboard, and signs up for both Quests currently available, with the preferred party in Quest #39 being himself, Guts, and the Yeti Barbarian who was nearby, Nagure, with Guts (once again) as Party Leader. "Sorry about this, old man, but I need to get on another Quest, and that seems to be my best chance, and you're the only one I really know around this place," Dak breathed, writing the names with neat script.

"I haven't agreed to this. What the hell do you think you are doing."

"Hey, you were the one picking up people left and right to go on the Quest with you. Besides, who else do you suggest?" Dak waved his hand, indicating all the unfamiliar people in the Hall. "I don't have anyone else left that I know. I suppose I could take off the names from the list, but I'd rather not be doing anything for the Watch of any town, no matter how far away it is. Way I see it, that quest is my only option, and you are basically my only option. Hell, I had to pick the other name out of everyone I saw in my line of vision, and then look 'em up in the records. I could invite Dyric, but really I doubt he'd accept. Plus, for some reason we keep signing up for the same quests. I just figured I'd play it out of my own will this time, not some freaking diety's."

"Kid, you don't seem to understand how this works. The employer is asking for a pre-formed party, to save himself the trouble of having to pay people that don't work well together, no doubt. I am signed up with Hybros and Alexis, because they came to me. This is not about your own petty preferences."

"Last I knew, you didn't work well with anyone," Dak sneered, a touch of cold malice creeping into his voice, eyes blazing with inner fire. "It's just that you work with me especially badly."

"Oh? That's not what I remember, I remember us killing a mutated lizard together, clear out an infested mine and capture who is probably one of the best defended men in Eubric."

"Yeah, all while fighting, arguing with, bragging at, and (in my case, on Quest #13), crying at each other.

Stumbling into the hall, I walk slowly to the Quest Board and sign my name underneath 38: The Lost Party. I also place a note underneath quest 39 saying that I am happy to go with anyone.

Running into the hall, Drake clumsily knocks over a random vase and smashes it, and says "Have I missed anything while I was trying to get drunk."

Scheherazade trots over the Drake and looks at the broken vase.

"You Imbecile! Who's gonna pay for that?"

Johon pulls Drake aside and pins him to the wall.

"Can we settle this once and for all?"

I challenge Drake to a fight in the arena!

Drake leaves money where the vase used to be!

"That might pay for it."

"And let's go fight in the- actually, I deny your request to fight me in the arena! I don't wanna have a broken spine because I accidentally smashed a vase."

I walk into the hall, casually pocketing the money Drake left near the vase.

"And let's go fight in the- actually, I deny your request to fight me in the arena! I don't wanna have a broken spine because I accidentally smashed a vase."

"Why not? a broken spine would suit you perfectly. If he's not going to break your spine can I? Please?"

I look over the list of quests, eyes falling on one in particular.

Wren. She's up. Again.

Unfortunately, I realize time is sparse this time of year, and joining would be almost impossible. Sighing, I sit back down, playing with my chain whip, hoping for another encounter with the Dark Lady in the future.

"You know what, I give up," Dak says, and crosses out his previous sign-up for Quest #39, then writes that he will go with anyone. He walks toward his table, grabbing the heads of Johon and Drake and banging them together as he does, the loud clang of metal on metal echoing through the vast space. "Stop fighting or I'll beat the hell out of both of you, he says in their direction, still walking.

Johon feels Drake's head bang against his while his remains perfectly still. As Drake's eyes spin and he falls down, Johon stands up and shakes the surprised Dak's hand, almost dislocating his arm.

"You seem a worthwhile quester, Would you want to sign up with me? I believe Sorrow is open, then we have a chance at being chosen."

I enter the Hall once more, having completed another quest. I order a cup of tea to sip on as I seek out Lawrence, Jess, Haldor, and Nur.

"Miss Islanti, Master Skovgaard, Lord Boomingham, Master Nur."

I nod to my fellow heroes.

"It appears that Master Szalinski entrusted me with the entire reward of 1250 Gold, and I have to give you each your shares of it."

I hand 250 Gold each to Lawrence, Jess, Haldor, and Nur, keeping the final 250 Gold for myself.

Haldor made the walk back from Szalinski by himself, not wanting to get involved in a deep conversation. It seemed an age until his eyes rested upon the familiar doors of the hall that had been his home for so long now. Sitting down further from his friends, he gladly accepted the gold that Bartholemew had given him from the gnome. To all who would listen, he spoke.

"I know we did the right thing, stopping Bluehood. What he was doing would completely upset the balance in the city, that we could not allow. Yet I still feel as though I am missing a part of me."

Guts looked down and saw a bunch of heroes coming in, among them was Haldor the Shaman, the one that did not seem to like Guts much. The nordic man looked mostly the same, but the way he said what he said made him seem just a bit... wearier than when he had last seen him.

Quietly, Guts walked over to the man, two bottles of the wine Guts enjoyed so thoroughly every day he was in the hall, in hand. The former rogue waited for a moment, then spoke:

"Care to drink with me, for a moment? You do drink, right?"

Posted (edited)

Haldor laughed.

"What sort of Nord would I be if I didn't? Please sit." He then sighed, a worn and forlorn look on his face. "I trust that there is no cause for us to fight? I've seen far to much of this city and its true face lately to give a damn anymore."
