Disappointed that no one else seemed to be interested in helping him and Byblos chronicle the saga of Dastan, Arthur made to return to the Library, when...

"Can you feel that?"

"...?"

Arthur slowly turned back to Skrall. The dark orb in his hand called to him. "Skrall...is that...is that what I think it is?" Arthur hears a voice calling out to him from the Library. He quickly sticks his head back through the doorway. "I'll be right back, Byblos!" Enraptured, Arthur walks hesitantly toward the Hunter. "May I...?" he asks, palm extended. The orb gently rolls toward Arthur seemingly of its own will for the time being, "Careful Arthur I've seen this happen before..."

Skrall's concentration on the black orb was broken as Cronk approached him. "It was uneventful, gave the Party plenty of time to rest up I think. Can't complain though, the money was good, speakin' of which here's the 100 Gold I owe ya for that Heavy Crossbow, got to see a bit of action, even if there was a lot of death and destruction, and I think it was a good experience for some of the newer members of the Hall. I take it yer Party made it back in one piece as well?"

Cronk thanks Skrall. Cronk hopes Crossbow served Skrall well. Cronk is still processing Cronk's Dastan experience. Is a lot to take in.

Cronk sees Skrall has Plaything. Cronk offers word of advice. If Skrall does use it, Be careful. Be sure Skrall is in control of what it will become. Cronk had to use one such thing in Arena. Cronk had no other weapon and had to fight way out. Cronk used all Cronk's willpower to bend Plaything to Zoot's Bane. Cronk had much trouble controlling sword until Cronk infuse it with power of light. Even now, Cronk feel Zoot's eyes watching. But Cronk not care since Zoot only see Cronk doing Ennoc's will.

Cronk just want friend Skrall to be careful. Cronk not want Skrall to lose focus on evil of Wren.

"Thank ya Cronk, I've seen the contention those things can cause already. Nearly caused Tensi the barbarian to have Hoke Ablesword's head on a platter on an earlier quest. No, I don't expect I'll be holdin' on to it fer very long, sooner or later those things have a way of findin' whom they will serve. Keep that in mind young Regulus, if that thing starts pullin' on ya, best hand it back, I wouldn't want it causin' any ill effects on ya."

"I think I pull upon it as much as it pulls upon me. I am of its people, after all." Arthur carefully reached for the smoky orb, then drew his hand back hastily, as if burned. Reaching instead with his right hand, still wrapped in the rag his ally Hans had given him, Arthur touched a cloth-bound finger to the surface of the Plaything.

Contact.

A light flashed in Arthur's mind, a series of disconnected images--a field, cut with rifts; a forest, dominated by a mighty oak; twin spires of blackened obsidian, bound by etherial forces--flashed through his mind. The tinkling of bells underscored the next part of the vision, as faces both familiar and foreign appeared behind his closed eyelids. And then, a midst the roiling clouds of a smoky maelstrom...

Arthur's eyes opened. He had barely blinked.

A gem of pure Chaos. Utterly impossible. And yet... Arthur drew his hand back from the artifact of Zoot, almost reluctantly, and reached into his robes. The cloth began to fall to pieces as he dug through his pockets for his quarry--"Time for a wardrobe change," he muttered aloud--but at last, he withdrew his three gems, his new Topaz chief among them. "I never properly thanked you for this, Skrall. And now once again I find myself in your debt. Thank you for that most enlightening experience." Arthur turned, and spotted a familiar but unrecognizable woman exit a door in the Hall, one that Arthur knew he had never been through before. The urge to investigate what lay through it was great, but the Mage restrained himself. "Cronk...have you seen De'kra yet? I have this strage feeling that the two of us ought to train together, but I haven't--"

Arthur stopped suddenly. "Skrall...if you haven't found that Plaything a permanent home by the time De'kra and I seek out the Copper Fox, would you mind letting me borrow it? As an arcane focus for my training?"

"Why not, but as I said proceed with caution these things have a way of turning even the best of friends into enemies." Skrall picked up the orb and stared long and hard into its inky blackness, but after receiving no inspiration, returned it to his pocket.

Atramor nodded to Skrall across the hall, turning back to Namyyra's table while she considered his offer, eager to avert his eyes from the cruel orb. McCafferey vacated his shoulder, pecking the crumbs from the saloon's counter, though her beady eyes mirrored the glow of the plaything.

"'Course, mate. And, Arthur, I think there's some sorta' magic business that records what heroes have done outside the hall once they return...or Byblos has some other means of knowin'."

Xander walks into the Hall, visibly tired from the events that had transpired in Dastan. Taking his notice that he had written earlier out of his back pocket, he walked over to the message board and posted it:

"Selling or trading the following items:

-Robe of the Pongcanis Champion (WP: 1Front Row)(SP: 1Back Row)

-Double-Sided Battle Ax (WP:6, Aim)

-Sword of Ancestral Hatred (WP:5, +1 WP for every kill)

Price is negotiable, any interested parties are urged to message me directly with any serious offers."

Xander also noted the sign up sheet for the open quests that were hiring heroes; he proceeded to sign his name under Quests #40, #44, and #46. Retiring to a less populated area of the hall, he waited for any offers that might come his way.

Arthur addresses Atramor. "Yeah, but this story...this one needs a personal touch." "Byblos has a bare-bones framework of what happened, but there are a LOT of gaps. What's this I hear about you hunting down ghosts? And there's been no word of any developments since we all split up at the palace, I know that one of our bravest commanders died in the fighting outside the palace, as did Emperor Alandri's bodyguard. Beyond that, there was quite a bit of good news involving the status of the Lion Knights, but I know of little that would interest you. Although, you DID fight alongside Count--sorry, Lord Knyghton in the Throne Room, did you not? He now leads all of the Lion Knights, both here and those who maintain the Lions' post in Dastan. He and the rest of the Lion Knights have offered to train Isabella, Alexandre, and I as Skirmishers when the time is right."

Seeing Xander posting a trading notice, he tacks up a bill of his own:

Robe of the Magi (SP: 1)
, 20 gold (that's 10 less than Fabian's price!). Contact Arthur J. Regulus if interested.

"Aye," replies Atramor, pulling the tarnished, once ornate crown from his head. "Me, Tarn, and Mallelio - a Dastanian fellow who works a lot like Luke - killed a former emperor hauntin' a wall he'd constructed to keep the Teuthisal and U'Kin separate from the humans. Never seen a spirit like him - he'd make a copy of himself with the amount of strength equal to every strike we made on him. But in the end..." he lifted up his Witch's Talisman slightly, with a smirk. "...we barely had to scratch him."

Haldor let himself in through a back door, and carved a path to his usual seat. There was little to do these days, not until the heroes set to return to Haddon would leave, and Haldor knew that he had to go back. It was the place that he nearly lost himself, he had to go back. But he didn't stay to ponder for long as once he had reached the bar, the Nord turned, to be greeted by the unforgettably large shape of an ogre. "Skrall! I haven't seen you in a bloody long time. How have you been, my old friend?" As the Norseman spoke, he though that he saw a strangely familiar black, impossibly black object flash before his eyes. No, it couldn't be, not Wren! How could she have been there, how? But of course she was agent of chaos, and where chaos was, the witch would be there.

OOC: hopefully this link works properly.

IC:

As De'kra entered the hall he lowered the musical tool, hiding it back within his cloak. It was...neutral to be back in Eubric, neither great nor necessarily worse. But he was here. The echo knew he would head to the market, training hall, and library soon, but for now he could just relax knowing that the heroes sent to Dastan had played a hand in saving it.

IC: De'kra returned to the hall, a little sadder in his steps. As the echo glanced around the hall, he spotted that Norsemen, the one with the disease, that Tomas said wasn't a disease, that Dak tried to examine, which had made De'kra confused. The urge to avoid a possible repeat was...strong, but De'kra needed to do this. And it might as well be now than later.

Walking cautiously to Haldor, De'kra clicked, "Excuse I Shaman, I need to ask you question. That okay?"

While Haldor waited for his friend to reply, the Nord felt a slight tug on his trouser leg, and as he looked around, his eyes met those of the little creature that he had met on a few occasions, most of them unpleasant. "Ah, you again. What is it that you want this time? Fine, I'll answer your question, just get it over with." The Shaman turned himself fully around, and took a swig of ale, visibly annoyed.

De'kra nodded, his eyes a constant blue."More and more heroes in Hall meet Wren," he clicked, "and they end up...passionate? about catch her. I worry about them. From all I know of Wren, she seem type to think of people as toys. That she think people are fun to play and, but once she is bore of them they get thrown away. I worry for heroes who get tangle up in her plans. And if she indeed intend to steal power of god....well, I know of demon? who stole we god's power. It was not good. I know you were on quest involve Wren, though I not sure how much contact you had. If you know way to protect people from her, maybe predict her mind, I would appreciate hear it."

"Also," clicked the echo, "I apologize for whatever happen last time you and I met. I was...confuse about many things. But that no excuse for whatever occur."

"Oh God, what am I going to do with these swords?" Isabella wondered out loudly while looking at the loot she gained from her last quest.

"Maybe selling or trading it with something useful for a rogue like me will be a better idea, anyone have something useful for me?"

Cronk hear rogue's dilemma and want to help rogue out.

Cronk has armor Rogue could use or some gold for rogue to buy nice things from new shop. What would be rogue's asking price?

Posted

"Hmmm.... What about trading it with that shiny weapon of yours instead of that armor? As I rogue I don't have much use of armors either."

(I meant Zoot's Bane btw :D)

Isabella would not be able to use Zoot's Bane either. Cronk is only being that can. 200 gold could buy many shiny things in marketplace. How about that?

Haldor laughed. "Ha, when did I ever say that I was repulsed, or scared, or that I took a dislike to you? I'm sorry, you must get it a lot, but I have seen many bad things in my time, and I have learnt that appearances matter very little. Abomination is a strong word, but if that is how you see yourself, I doubt very little that I can disuade you. But you can still drink, hmm?" The Nord laughed again, before waving for a few mugs of ale. "Split personality, it is more common than you or I would think, but I know nothing of the mind, you ought to see a specialist about that one, but I'll help in anyway I can. You might as well call me Haldor, from up North, slinging the hooks for thirty years. Believe it or not you aren't the first undead that I've seen in these parts, but I'm not going to say you are any less welcome than any other man, because of your 'condition'. Good to meet you, Sorrow." Haldor smiled, and sat himself down, before addressing the other man. "So who is your friend here, and how have your quests been turning out?"

"...Heh. I only call myself what others call me. No, beer gives me heart attacks, apparently - unpleasant stuff."

"Every passing day it seems like this is not a hall of heroes but a hall of broken souls trying to mend the gap by committing acts of heroism. I blend in quite perfectly, eh?"

"We failed. my friend here decided it'd be a good idea to behead a princess."

Thothwick strode into the hall for the first time since he departed for Dastan. Throughout his entire journey in the foreign land, he only one question on his mind: "Would he still be there?"

There were none of his fellow Metasimian to be found in the hall, let alone the one he wanted. "Perhaps he's assisting cousin Byblos in the library?"

Save for his cousin, he found the library to be devoid of his kind. "Maybe he is partaking in a drink?"

Alas, the saloon yield no Hoptet. Crestfallen, Thothwick sat on a nearby chair. "Had the wait proved too much for him?"

Tarn entered the Hall and sat down near Atramor. He felt weary. He knew that they had done great things in Dastan, and as a team they had all worked very well, but for now he was tired and unsure of the future. He did not know what class to learn as for his advanced training, nor the Quests he should sign up for next. It was as though the months in Dastan had made him so focused on the tasks at hand, that now they were gone, he did not know what to do.

He sipped a well-deserved ale and hoped that inspiration would find him soon. Rystael would have laughed him out of the village had his cleric mentor known of Tarn's indecision.

Althior strolled back up the stairs to see that many heroes had entered the hall again. He was able to identify Skrall, Arthur, and his friend, Tarn, whom he sat next to. "Tarn!" He said, "How great it is to see you again! How was the great empire of Dastan?"
