Flipz Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) "I'll keep that in mind." Arthur feels a chill run down his neck, and whirls around, looking for something--or rather, someone--that wasn't there. "Does something feel...off...to you?" Frowning, Arthur sits back in his chair and orders a drink. Edited August 18, 2012 by Flipz Quote
CMP Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Atramor can't help but glance at McCafferey as Arthur states his suspicions, but she merely continued to peck away at the crumbs on the counter that Scheherazade hadn't gotten to yet. "I don't think too much of those feelins', mate. They just make ya' paranoid." Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) "Aye, I know they be lookin' fer someone in Haddon, but honestly Arthur, it never satisfied. I've been traipsin' after Wren too many times and each time I come up short. No, if we're to ever meet again I'll let the fates handle that, fer the meantime I've got a hunkerin' for a little adventure in the south." Edited August 18, 2012 by Waterbrick Down Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Wren is indeed slippery. Cronk hopes Cronk will be there when Wren gets bashing Wren deserves. Grrr. Quote
Flipz Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Arthur glanced at Cronk. An idle question arose in his mind, and before he could stop himself, he asked, "Sir Cronk, this may seem like a strange question, but...do you have any hair under that helmet?" Quote

Fugazi Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 "In the market for a weapon? I don't think I'll be needin' this Black Katana... It's a simple weapon, but I'll offer it at only 50 gold, that's 3 free WP more than they're selling that Fauxthril crap for at the marketplace." "This sounds like a reasonable offer Atramor, considering the gold it would cost me to upgrade a market weapon to that level." Galen smiles at the witch and hands him 50 gold in exchange for his Black Katana. Quote
Tanma Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 IC: De'kra watched as Arthur casual brought up the hunt for Wren. The echo stared at him carefully, only relaxing once he moved on to talking about whatever hair was. He didn't seem too obsessed, maybe De'kra misunderstood. Hope upon hope invested in that idea, though De'kra had a sneaking suspicion that it was not so easy as a misunderstanding this time. OOC: I would feel a lot safer if that PM had been answered. Quote
Quarryman Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 "Hey, mate. I see you've got a Topaz. Any chance you'd be willing to part with it for a Scroll of Sealin'? From what I can see, Topaz seems to be one of the more common gems, but I could still use one, whereas I prefer my enemies to be able to hit me with their special skill. It's fun to throw it right back in their faces, heh." "Yes, topazes do indeed seem to be one of the more common gems, seems everyone and their grandmother has some kind of lightning elemental weapon these days, or just a loose topaz for casting spells, so okay, I'll accept your offer. (could have sworn I heard you mention something about some gold as well though..)" Quote
Pandora Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Nyx once more throws open the doors to Heroica, the place that has been more of a home to her than any other, and begins to make her way across the hall. She looks for Tarn, remembering that she has a Scroll of Weakening to return to him. She spots him sitting, with a pensive look on his face. "Hey Tarn, thanks for lending me this, as it happens I didn't actually use it; or at least I don't think I did - the end of that last fight was all a bit of a blur really. You really did yourself proud in that fight - I know you still feel a bit bad about the whole bomb and Constance thing, but I really do think you were an unstoppable force for good in that last fight. And that Ella's a sweet girl, I really think she took a shine to you. You should go back and visit her one day, maybe? Anyway, here's your scroll, and I'll leave you to your thoughts." Nyx passes a slightly crumpled Scroll of Weakening back to Tarn while grinning and patting him on the back, before taking her leave. The quest board, as always draws her attention and she scans down the list of submissions. It doesn't take long for her to spot the repeat request from Acting Captain Patricia - now Captain Patricia, it seems. Her last interaction with that woman had been most dissatisfactory at best, and there was definitely unfinished business there, so Nyx has no hesitation in signing her name for Quest #40 The Strivvian Job. She is about to turn away, when her eyes catch the submission just below. "My best friend in the whole wide world has disappeared..." the words pull at Nyx's heart. This is why she was here, to help people who needed it. The rewards were immaterial; sure she needs money to keep herself primed for battle, but the point of Heroica was that it provided a warm bed and a hot meal, so that heroes could be ready to help people. Ordinary people, not just the puffed-up rich houses. She sighs; her obligation to the Town Watch is strong, but wishes she can also help this poor beggar girl. She pens a note: Dear Sküld, I fear a prior obligation will prevent me from assisting you, but I have confidence that the Heroes of Heroica will not let you down. I wish I could help you, and should the Town Watch not wish further use of my services then I would be delighted to help you in searching for your friend. I hope for the best and happiest outcomes for you, your mother and your friend. Nyx, Firemage. and attaches it to the bottom of the request. Feeling a little glum, Nyx walks over to the bar and slumps onto a stool. "The usual, Scherry dear; thanks" she manages, and Scheherazade brings her her elaborate cocktail with the swirly straw and lavender umbrella. She takes a sip and gazes at the drink thoughtfully. It tastes off; just... not quite right, and as she drinks she remembers. Wren had drunk this drink when she'd been a hero here... The really odd thing was that Nyx was sure she'd invented it; she'd asked Scherry for a pretty pink, slightly sweet and highly alcoholic (thus flammable) concoction, and this was it. She even thought she'd named it, but perhaps Scheherazade had been humouring her. It didn't make sense, but she'd heard the Witch Atramor repeat his conversation with her. "Scheherazade makes Flaming Gumballs like no other." - the words rang in her ears. With a growing sense of unease, Nyx tries to focus on the good she helped achieve in Dastan, thinking over the events she had witnessed in that far away land while continuing to sip her drink, not even noticing she'd forgotten to set it on fire. Fred Daniel Yam Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Being the amazingly social person he is, William sees the one called Nyx from his quest and walks over, "I don't think we've ever properly met. Name's Harkenshire, though you may remember me as the guy who always got knocked out in our battles." Quote
Pandora Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Nyx smiles bemusedly as William introduces himself once again. "Hey Will. I think you took to many blows to the head, or unconsciousness somehow dented your memory, but we've totally met before. I even remember introducing myself to you while we were on the same quest in Dastan; you know, the place we've just come back from? We had like a ton of conversations and fought a load of battles together. Anyhow, it's good to see you upright for once, I was starting to get used to seeing you lying in a pool of your own blood. Fancy a drink?" Quote
Chromeknight Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) In the hall earlier.... Nerwen drew a breath as she saw the intricate artistry of the gift. You know that elves are musical creatures, our creators are patrons of all arts, but music is a special favourite. In Dastan I myself gained access to the power to heal many at once through song. It gladdens my heart to know that you are touched by the same love. As the topic of conversation shifted to the events of Dastan, Nerwen took a drink of water and concentrated on De'kra's words. I have noticed the same thing. But my words to you are this, it is to be expected. Look at every quest that heroes have journeyed on, often quests change them, bend them in new ways and draw their attention to new parts of the world. Some quests embitter heroes, making them seek redemption. Others inspire heroes, still others inflame their egos. Quests that involve the Lady do this more than others. Heroes are forced to make difficult choices and are rarely the same after. That, I think is the danger that you identify, the danger of change. But it is a danger that cannot be ran from, try and you will find it before you always. Be wary, but be not afraid. Her story, in the end, is only one part of Heroica's, she is only one theme in the grand symphony. Seeing De'kra's thoughts drift off, Nerwen smiled gently and stepped away, knowing she would see him later. OOC: hopefully this is okay, I think it is cool none the less. I assume you mean that the gift is and instrument. It's fantastic, just the sort of characterful thing that I intended to enable. Edited August 18, 2012 by Chromeknight Quote

An idle question arose in his mind, and before he could stop himself, he asked, "Sir Cronk, this may seem like a strange question, but...do you have any hair under that helmet?" Why would Cronk not have hair? Cronk not that old yet. Cronk just like wearing helmets. Quote
Chromeknight Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) Nerwen sees Nyx at the bar. I am not one for drinking, but I think I promised to raise a glass with you. And here I am. I am glad to see you travelled safely back from Dastan also. Ordering a drink like Nyx's Nerwen smiles gently. Denarii was sorry that she did not get to say goodbye. Nodding at the ranger, she said. I believe we met at the Dragon-knight barracks in Drakencourt, but were not introduced, standing, as it was, on opposite sides. I heard you say your name is William? I am Nerwen. Fred Daniel Yam Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 "I remember perfectly Nyx, I meant that we have never had a proper conversation save battle orders. Though I must ask, what did you think about the consequences of some of our actions?" Now addressing Nerwen; "Greetings Nerwen, I am Harkenshire, how goes the day?" Quote
Pandora Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Nyx looks round as Nerwen approaches, and a broad smile fills her face; her unease is forgotten, for now at least, in the company of friends. "Nerwen!" Nyx throws an arm around the gentle elf's shoulders and squeezes her, being careful not to squeeze too hard. "It's great to see you got back ok, and thanks for the message from Denarii." She clinks her glass with Nerwen's in toast, and frowns at the lack of fire. She clicks her fingers over each glass, causing purple-red flame to leap from each, and her frown changes back once more to a broad smile. "She and her people were some of the most interesting people I've ever met. I wonder if they'd let me train with them someday, I mean, they really like fighting and collecting shiney things, and I've already proven myself to them, and... I guess it'd be too much to learn how to fly wouldn't it? Seeing as how I don't have wings and stuff? But they were beautiful, and so graceful, and so vicious." Nyx's eyes glaze slightly as she stares into the distance a little. OoC: JimB, I am now thinking it would be awesome if you developed an Expert Class based on the Rito. Nyx turns back to William. "Do you mean Constance? Well, yeah it was a shame that she died, and she was innocent, but... people die. She was rude and annoying, not that that means people should automatically die, but I'm much more upset about U'Stus and what happened to him, even if that wasn't directly at mine or my allies hands. I really liked that guy, he was so sweet, and... well the events in his house weren't fun at all." Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 "Yeah I know, I've fought wars and I've killed enough innocents to own my own cemetery. In the end they're just collateral." Quote
Rumble Strike Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Tarn responded to Althior. "I was to be a Shaman, to follow the path of my mentor and honour his order, but events in Dastan have given me pause. I fight so much better when in a rage that Bezerker may be a better choice for me to fulfill my best efforts as a hero." He smiled at Nyx as she gave back his Scroll, and blushed when she spoke of Ella. "I greatly admire her, and it would be nice to see her again when things are less chaotic. Perhaps it was only the perils of war that drew us closer together, she has a destiny far greater than mine will ever be." Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Siercon could have sworn he signed up for Quest 38. "Well I suppose there is no harm in scribbling my name down yet again, besides I totally could have missed it" he thought to himself as he finished writing at the board. Quote
Scorpiox Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Haldor leant back in his chair, relaxing in a draught of alcohol and pondering what to say to his friends. With all the talk, he felt as though his posts had been buried others were to preoccupied to talk to him, who still knew little of what had actually turned out in Dastan. As the Nord took long breaths and drinks of ale, his gaze was attracted once again to the tar-black and ever shifting orb that was concealed in Skrall's pocket. He sighed, and then spoke. "Skrall, what happened over there? Wren was there wasn't she, what did she want? Did all go well?" He laughed to himself, while slugging yet more drink. "I apologise for the interrogation, it has just been awhile, my friend. But please, I am curious." While the man waited for the ogre to speak again, hopefully explaining more about what had transpired over in the far off lands, he felt yet another burning desire to go to Haddon. If Wren was there, if she had flitted accross the seas in enough time for the quest, then Haldor knew that he had to go back there. Haddon was where he had nearly bee broken, but that inspired him further still, to go back, and help what he had nearly destroyed. Quote

Professor Flitwick Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Thothwick entered the Hall, after a day of tireless searching and back-tracking. The Marketplace? Nothing. The Harbour? Nada. The Sungold Hill? Zilch. "Half of Eubric searched, and no sign of him. Has he not just left Heroica Hall, but Eubric itself?" Sitting himself down in the Saloon, Thothwick realised how parched his day of searching had made him. "Ms. Scheherazade? A sherry, if you would be so kind." Quote

Skrall raised himself from his bench and took a seat closer to the Nord, "My apologies Haldor, it's been a long trip. Yes Wren was there, could we have expected anythin' else? With such chaos and destruction being wrought by an empire in turmoil it is little wonder that she had a front row seat for the event. Nay though, I had very little dealin's with her except to do her bidding which it would seem we are always forced to do no matter how hard we try. A group of rogue lion knights tried resurrectin' a Chimera, sod ugly beast if ya ask me, and Wren wasn't too much fer lettin' the creature live so she gave us heroes a choice. Let the Chimera decimate the empire or do her biddin' and kill it fer her. Not much of choice was there? She wasn't at the final battle, but she sent enough of her beasts in to do her dirty work. Seems she was after a seer child or some sort, Tarn the barbarian over there could probably tell ya more about her." The Ogre let out a long sigh, "I'm gettin' old Haldor, most Ogres barely reach their 30's before they're killed for either doin' something stupid or because they're the unfair target of people's prejudices. Point is, I've tried followin' after everything I thought would bring me some closure, some satisfaction and it all seemed for naught. Love, family, riches, glory, noble causes, revenge against Wren, nothin'. My hopes is a quest down south will give me some time to think and straighten things out." Quote
