Drake signs up for Quest 56: Stealer Of Senses!

Drake walked back into the hall, tired and frustrated after days of hard work outside of the hall, away from Eubric. He had been observing the stars, as he believed something special happened every time 3 stars lined up exactly or when certain stars glowed extra brighter than normal. He believed something few people believed in, as he was part of a special top secret group nearly nobody knew about. Not even the fellow heroes of Heroica Hall! He staggered up to a spot by a fire, and he set up his bedroll. He decided to rest in it for a few hours until he wasn't tired and frustrated any more.

But then he realized he had been away from Eubric for so long, that it was now the year after he left. And it was February.

So poor Drake never got the rest he hoped for, and he ended up having to sit on a bench and do whatever came to his mind.

Sir Brickington signs up for Quest 56: Stealer of Senses!

Brickington was overjoyed! Finally a quest for him to join. Although, the questmaster should know he's a noobie. Every Hero has a beginning, and this was his. This was it.

Jeaux signs up for Quest 56: Stealer of Senses!

Jeaux saw the notice being nailed up on the Quest Board. It seemed someone had need of the services Heroica provides, but did not have the funds, or was not willing to provide them, to hire any of the veteran heroes that seemed to populate the Hall at the moment. Every heroes career must begin somewhere and it seemed this would be the start of his.

He walked up to the board and using the quill sitting nearby signed his name on the dotted line.

Em signs up for Quest 56: Stealer of Senses!

Em, always willing for an adventure, saw this job as a opportunity to show the world what he was capable of. He patted his bow lovingly, grinning. "Looking forward to this," he rumbled to himself.

Still weary from the recent fights and a long trip back, Thalion made his way to the room for a rest. After a good nights sleep, he headed to the Hall and looked around to see if anyone he knew was there and to share a drink of fine elvish wine with. It took him some time, with the Hall as busy as ever, but he spotted Nerwen and Dekra having a conversation. He waited for the opportune moment then came close and greeted them, "Master Dekra, mistress Nerwen! Elen sila lumenn omentilmo. It is so good to see you both. How have you been?"

After leaving the docks and Stigveladi who wanted to head over to the marketplace, Nessa entered the Hall for the third time in her life. As she came first she was much less strong than now. On entering she greeted Thalion who already had returned. They had some sort of conflict and she thought about sorting that out. She approached Thalion but just realized that he was in a conversation. She stepped back and waited for an opportunity to speak to him... Or another fellow hero she just got to know.

Gali was one of wisest of Toa Mata, with command over water. When the Toa went their separate ways after gaining immense power she alone worried that they were strongest together. She was heart of team in many ways, and healer as well. She was also one who...realize something was wrong when Toa Mata try to save Mata-Nui life. And it was wrong...so very wrong.

De'kra shook his head of such thoughts, before clicking, By way, have you ever heard of something called Doors of Chaos. I receive word from heroes on quest against Wren, and they are part of her plan to usurp Zoot.

Thank you De'kra. And what became of Gali?

No, I have not heard of doors of chaos. Perhaps the book we brought back from the temple mentions them?

Master Dekra, mistress Nerwen! Elen sila lumenn omentilmo. It is so good to see you both. How have you been?"

The stars shine on our meeting, Thalion. I have just returned from questing in Miranda. Happily, our party ended an evil unwittingly released on my first quest. It seems you have been busy too? I am now able to enter extra training as a hero, I was discussing with De'kra what path I should take.

But last I saw her, we people had kill the usurper of Mata-anui, and and both of them gone I people began to rebuild civilization."

"That is always good to hear! I too have only recently returned from the land of Charis where we were fortuitous enough to help stop a war between two nations. It is nice to hear you have new aspirations, as I am sure whichever path you choose you will do so wisely and be good in it. If you need any help with the training, you have but to ask. Tell me, do you already have something in mind?"

Tired after more than a month's length of hard work, Drake decided to go to the Saloon. He saw many faces there, Elves, Dead Shadows and strange familiar-looking things alike. He sat down and looked around, reflecting on his life. He remembered sad moments, and happy moments. He remembered the first and only quest he ever took so far. He remembered being told his parents were dead. He remembered...

...That creature he bumped into during his early Heroica days. It was vaguely humanoid in shape, except way taller than anything he knew. It looked to have two arms, but arms? It had four tentacles. How could it have arms, when it also had tentacles? And the strangest part of all was, it had no face. No mouth, no nose, no eyes. Nothing. No hair, either! It was wearing clothes Drake only saw in the fanciest parts of Upper Eubric. Suddenly, Drake stopped remembering. That same day, Drake had met a shady bug creature. Half of it's face had no skin, or shell, or anything. It was just flesh. The bug had a short conversation with Drake, and eventually they had a deal. Drake was shocked, but he took it anyway! What was he thinking? He remembered it well, and there was no backing down.

That night was a special night. He was told that every night, when certain stars shined brighter than usual, or they aligned, Drake would have to murder one specific person of the bug creature's choice. This night, he had to murder either "1 Heroica Hero/Bonaparte Family Member". Drake couldn't do it. He would have to think of a plan, and fast.

*snip*

I groan at the sight of the bumbling knight.

"Drake, are you still on drugs? Last time you were here you brought in a bomb, and earlier you stole a dragon..."

Mizuki wakes up from sleeping on a table in the hall. She notices that a ranger has offered to duel heroes so she walks up to the bar corner and asks the ranger "Would you like to fight with me ?"

Boomingham, ever the one to lead the charge, is the first hero to bumble back into the hall. He glances around for Nyx, but she is no where to be seen. He feels that it has been too long since they've seen each other, though it hasn't been all that long at all. He searches for other familiar friendly faces- Cinna, the young girl he had befriended and wished to know more about, Hybros slumped in his chair near the fire, Atramor with his little chicken that Barty seems to distrust, the two polite and warm faces of Hoke and Tothwick, even the large Ogre Skrall. None of them are in the hall. Boomingham sighs. Barty zips around above, but the little angel doesn't seem particularly talkative either. Perhaps something is weighing on his small brain- or whatever it is that angels have in their head.

Boomingham sleepily does his normal scan of the hall, looking for his oldest friends, and for once is pleasantly surprised to see Eric, the big barbarian he first made acquaintances with. Though they had rarely had a chance to talk since their first encounter, his impression of the man was still strangely very positive. A huge grin breaks out on the old Paladin's face and he walks over towards the Barbarian, holding up a hand to bar maid as he passes. He sits down next to the barbarian and pats him on the shoulder roughly but with affection.

"How goes it, chap?" Boomingham sees the raider Guts bumming around nearby and waves him over to the table, his eyes on the bottle of sweet wine that Guts holds.

Posted

Guts raises an eyebrow when the bearded knight Guts had spoken to before waved him over. Wasn't this the one that believed he came from the past? This should be good.

The raider took a seat opposite of the Paladin, and took a sip, expectant of what the Paladin wanted.

Posted

The two men sit in awkward silence a short while- Eric is too concerned with his own drink to speak up, it would seem. Barty zips around and gives Guts the evil eye. Finally Boomingham clears his throat and smacks his lips loudly.

"Would you like to pour me a glass?" he asks. "I've got a few things I was hoping to talk to you about. I hear that you're a worshipper of Pseudo? I recently stumbled upon an old temple of his, and while we hit it off, I'm still a little unsure of what he wants from me specifically. Care to fill me in, and of course share a drink?"

Posted

Guts' eyebrow raises even further when the Paladin mentions a Strivvian deity, the Raider looks at Boomingham's face, trying to see if he was joking or something. Eventually, he took a clean-looking glass from a table behind him, poured it half full and put it down in front of Boomingham, he started talking:

"I haven't been to Strivvi in roughly fifteen years, I am not sure all that is happening, but I have heard rumours. Pseudos, there is a S on the end, is part of the Strivvian Pantheon as much as any God here. Did you know that if you go far inlands, Neron and Neredice are not worshipped? At least Pseudos was part of the Pantheon. The Temple of Pseudos did something, which caused an uproar. While one of the late viscount's sons was on patrol beyond the walls, the other managed to get the worship of Pseudos outlawed. But, there is no man telling me what to worship, and I am not a citizen of Strivvi anymore anyway... I would not know what Pseudos' wants with you, but I do know that Pseudos is a god of protection. So I guess... Protect?"

Posted

Boomingham sips at the wine (it is sweet and warm) but snorts into it by accident as he laughs at the Raiders advice. A huge grin lights up his face.

"That was the general idea I got as well. I can get behind protecting, I suppose. And what about you, chap? Why is it that you haven't been in Strivvi in many a year. I was there recently- can't say it was pleasant, but a home is a home. And though it may be that no one's telling you who to worship, who do you believe in?"

Boomingham leans in confidentially, glancing over his shoulder at Barty.

"Truth be told, Raider, I'm not big on the worship of any God. I say if the gods want something done, they ought to come down here and do it themselves. And if they don't, might be they don't exist."

"I can hear you," Barty whines.

"So, what is it, Guts? Perhaps its time we unravel the man of mystery a little bit."

Posted (edited)

Guts smirks as the Paladin ruins the wine, nevertheless, he answers:

"Hm. I acknowledge the Gods, I am not going out of my way to pray. The Gods have never helped me, so why would I? As for why I haven't gone back to Strivvi, there is no deep story attached. It's just that I had no reason to go back. There is nothing there for me. That reminds me, you claim to be a King, am I right? Where is this mystical land, that you once ruled, Paladin?"
