Khorne Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 The viking finished his last beer and prepared to leave the Hall. He needed some fresh air. The whole business with Astrid, or whatever the new hero's name was, confused him. His greatsword, Godricsleif, rested besides him in its scabbard. Eric picked up his giant sword and slowly stepped towards the exit of the Hall. In the corner of his eye, he noticed the Boomingham, the bald Raider, the elf woman and some ranger were still talking. Eric didn't get it. How could one possibly talk to people for such a long time? He softly shook his hand and the word "strange" came to mind. As he continued walking towards the great oaken doors, though, memories of his time in the North invaded his head. Memories of long conversations, sometimes deep and serious, often funny. In his mind he saw himself talking to Astrid, to Godric, to Norra. He used to talk to a myriad of people, his sarcastic sense of humour often bringing a smile to their faces. Sarcasm that over time had turned to bitter sardonism. The laughs turned to silence and solitude. It then dawned to him that Boomingham and his friends weren't the strange ones. He was. Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) "Never've claimed to be anything else. It interests me to hear what taught you to apply pressure the way you do, Raider." Boomingham finishes off another glass of wine before waving down the bar maid. He sees the look on Sarge's face when he introduces Guts and pats his fellow elder on the shoulder. "Give Guts a fighting chance in your heart, he isn't that bad of a chap once you get over the fact that he's a little screwy in the head." Boomingham chortles. "I wish I made a bit of gold myself, but my wife tells me I won't make it to an old age, so I won't be needing to support myself. If my sword arm doesn't give out, my liver sure will. The kingdom was about mid-way between the tip of the high kingdoms and Ennon. It was burned down- not in the war, but later, by some traveling band of Orcs. Can't say I was too pleased to hear about it." Ennon? Wasn't that the place with them Orcs? Heh, I made a quite a bit of money from the fruits and labors of them Orc's descendants! Slaves eh?. Don't worry too much about your sword arm, My leg gave in ages ago, and look at me? Perfectly healthy! *Sarge enters a coughing fit* I had a ship once, that burned too. I bloody said that cigars on a ship weren't a good Idea.. Hoping to see where the bugger is now, their hiring Heroes to find the little shit OOC: Sorry for the swearing! Sarge has a foul mouth. Wedge09 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Alexander returns to the Hall after his first and victorious duel of ever and heads to the bar corner for a drink while waiting for the beginning of a new quest hoping that will be the one for the Bonapartes. Quote
-obelix- Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Thalion sees Alexander drinking in the corner and approaches him, "Master Alexander, you were gone from the Hall for a while... Did you by any chance get an answer on the notice you put for a duel?" Quote
Wedge09 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 "Hi, Thalion. Yes, I had an answer from a rogue, what was his name?? oh yes, Mizuki Kimura. I won my first duel but I really risked to be defeated, in the final round I unleasheded the power of my bow and I defeated my opponent. Do you want a duel perchance??? I would be honored to fight against you in the Arena, providing we finish before the start of the Quest for the Bonapartes. My idea is to become a cannoner and an improved reputation with the Bonaparte is essential." Quote
-obelix- Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 "Very well done! I must say, I am not prone to taking risks but I have to admit sometimes they have to be taken. It would be my honor and privilege to accept your challenge and test our abilities in a quick battle in the Arena." Quote
Wedge09 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 "The pleasure is mine, Thalion." then Alexander heads to the Arena with Thalion for a new duel. Quote
Palathadric Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 "When will men learn respect!" I murmur as I enter the Hall. It's been a bad day. The Orc sitting behind the bar doesn't make it easier. "What are you looking at?" I snarl. "It's bad enough that your race is still walking the earth, much worse that you flaunt it in our faces!" I sit down heavily in my usual seat opposite the entrance where I can monitor the comings and goings. I need to hit something badly. Where is that undead abomination or the vampire? Having sat back for a while and take in a few breaths, I look around the Hall to see who is around. Everyone is in their respective groups a paladin I vaguely remember from the last time I was in the hall, an elf, and a bald man are discussing something about Eubric, "Sarge" is apparently trying to get in on the conversation. An elven mage and a ranger depart for a bout of sparring in the arena. "What men do for sport! As if they don't get enough fighting physically." I head over to the board and look at the sign-ups for Quest #58. Eric, Erdathcath, and Sarge's names are all there. "Interesting," I mutter, disinterestedly. I look over and see Eric still sitting in his corner by the bar. I shuffle over to him. "So where did you head off to Eric? Just disappeared right when we were entering that cave, huh? Afraid of the dark, are you? Surprising, you seem more of a darkness-lover to me. Weren't you the one standing up for vampires earlier. Well, guess what? We encountered one on the quest, and I happily sent it to its death. You should have seen the look on its face. One hit was all it took and back into Hell it went. Damning abomination. I took great pleasure in that blow, you should know. It's unfortunate you weren't around to see. So, is it your usual practise to slip out of quests at the first opportunity you get or as soon as it gets a little rough? Eh?" Quote

Palathadric Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I stamp a message up by the quest board for all to see. I, Monk Pretzel, am now loaning out one "Fancy Shield" SP:7 for the duration of one quest. I will listen to reasonable offers for it. Anyone interested...don't contact me, I'll contact you. I sit by the table and watch the board carefully, scrutinizing intently whether anyone pays abnormal interest to my notice. I look around me. "I wonder which quest Arasmyth is gone off to now? I've been gone from Heroica for too long." Quote

So, is it your usual practise to slip out of quests at the first opportunity you get or as soon as it gets a little rough? Eh?" Eric annoyedly sighed as he heard Monk Pretzel's voice. "I drowned a guy and took his gear during my leave. That dark enough for you, monk?" The Nord raised an eyebrow an smirked. He seemed amused, even though his words had been spoken with venom and bitterness. Eric's smirk then turned to faint fake smile, but the cold tone in his voice remained. He frowned. "I wouldn't've expected anything less from you, taking such pleasure in killing a mighty being. You're blinded by your foolish ignorance, spurred on by your pathetic religious zealotism. So sad, really, being such a puppet to your weakling god. In a way, I would feel sorry for you if I cared about you, but as we both already know, I don't care even the slightest bit, biscuit-boy." Pyrovisionary Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Sarge was about to say something to Boomingham, but was cut short by a Nord arguing with Monk pretzel. How dare you address your elders in such a way boy! The monks and Priests of this land educate those lacking in wit and brain, such as yourself. I daresay some poor man tried. Before you slit his throat I suspect. Aye, Jon Mcency knows your kind. One clever enough to make a dishonest living but stupid enough to get caught, Is that why you're here? Or are you some orphan seeking vengeance? Too bloody many o' those these days. Youngsters Sarge returns to his drink and conversation with Boomingham. No respect eh? Quote
Khorne Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 OOC: I was under the impression Eric and Pretzel were not sitting anywhere near Boomingham and Guts, so Sarge probably couldn't have heard what Eric and Pretzel were talking about. But anyway, as you started talking, it'd be rude not to reply . Sarge was about to say something to Boomingham, but was cut short by a Nord arguing with Monk pretzel. The Nord sharply turned his face towards the interrupting stranger, another old coot. Seems like Heroica was turning into some retirement home for the elderly. The vague trace of emotion and slight amusement that had dominated his face when talking to Pretzel were gone. Rebutting monk Pretzel's ignorant remarks was entertaining in a way. It was almost fun to bash the hermit's foolish ramblings. Being interrupted by some righteous old-timer who seems quite full of himself isn't entertaining. Nor fun. In any way. Eric frowned once more and eyed the cripple, old man intently. The man talked about respect, but it seemed he hardly grasped the concept. Respect has to be earned. This "Mcency"-type hadn't done anything to earn Eric's respect yet. "Go back to your drink, old man, you don't know what you're talking about. Don't waste your time meddling with other people's affairs. It's quite a precious commodity for a man of your age" Quote

"Eric! How are you feeling? I hope whatever prevented you from the quest we were in has left now." She then notices Eric's companion whom he is conversing with, and turns red, believing she just interrupted them. Recognizing Erdathcath's voice, Eric slowly turned his head towards the Elven Druid, away from Mcency. He managed to pull of a charming smile and even got up to greet the Druid. He nodded. "Erdathcath. Always a pleasure and delight to the eye to see you. I'm fine, thank you very much", he calmly replied, though with the necessary showmanship. The Nord sat down again and motioned Erdathcath to take a seat as well. He gestured the Orcish bartender to bring his company some drinks. "So how did you fare on the errand run for the old alchemist? Did he manage to build his staff?" Eric smirked. He could've asked monk Pretzel, or maybe even the other old guy, but he'd rather have someone interesting tell him the story. Quote
The_Customizer Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 "Thank you kindly dear sir, as for the quest, yes we did manage to get everything he needed, and he built the staff, though as can be expected, the staff turned out to be evil, and he attacked us, thankfully, we managed to knock him out, and destroyed the staff, saving ourselves, and the old man, as well as his son who we managed to find in some old caves. Besides that, there wasn't much adventure, besides fighting a merman who was lost, then rescuing him, then fighting a bunch of insane people, then rescuing the last of the power trees. But besides that, nothing much happened." Erdathcath turns to the Orcish bartender and orders a cup of Green-lea tea. Quote

I sigh aloud, but feel it is my duty introduce the pair. "Eric, McEncy. McEncy, Eric. Erdathcath you both know. "I drowned a guy and took his gear during my leave. That dark enough for you, monk?" "Depends on who it was you drowned. If it is the kind of scum that Eubric seems to be flooded with these days, I would almost commend you. Where are the days gone when we could just slay a devil when we saw one and not have to explain our actions away to others who seem to think it's not right? Where have men's conception of what's right gone to, I wonder? If you see a devil, you kill it, plain and simple, loot it if you will, that's optional. It seems like these days it's almost popular to associate oneself with nether beings." "I wouldn't've expected anything less from you, taking such pleasure in killing a mighty being. You're blinded by your foolish ignorance, spurred on by your pathetic religious zealotism. So sad, really, being such a puppet to your weakling god. "Well, if you are calling it a "mighty being" than clearly you are inferring that I must be a very mighty being if I was able to kill it. Thus, your conclusion about a "weakling God" as you put it, makes no sense, because my God defeated the strength of that minion and his god. See what I mean? "I would join you for drinks, but I never touch a drink served by a greenskin." Quote
Chromeknight Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) How dare you address your elders in such a way boy! Youngsters! No respect eh? Sit down please. You are by no means the eldest here. It is not your place to lecture on manners and civilisation and then blithely ignore such strictures yourself. Whatever you were before, Heroica offers all a fresh start. As such, it is those with experience that are respected, more than those simply advanced in age. Whatever entitlement you feel, you will need to earn respect here. Edited February 11, 2013 by Chromeknight Quote

Chromeknight Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) Me? Respect? You obviously haven't heard of me Milady. Now mind your own business! Lifting a cookie and nodding in thanks to her recent quest mate Nerwen says, No. I have not heard of you. That is precisely my point. Should I have heard of you? Have you been heroic for long? As for it being my business, you joined our conversation, sat at the table here, and addressed remarks to my conversation companions. We could have excluded you, but did not. We were couteous and welcoming. As a friendly word, I encouraged you to be the same. Clearly you choose not to be, as is your freedom. If you do wish to be included in conversations, I would recommend you rethink such an attitude. You are, after all, young enough to learn new things. Turning to Mizuki she says with a smile, I see you have visited the training room also. An assassin now. It looks good on you. But mind you do not take after Sorrow and spend more time picking up coins than actually killing the party's enemies! Edited February 11, 2013 by Chromeknight Quote

Seeing Mizuki enter the hall, I rise from my seat, "Excuse me a moment." I head over to where she's standing. "Little Miss Rogue, how goes life with you. Clearly you've been living a busy life, haven't you? Where have your travels taken you since our we fought together in the underside of the world for the banker woman? That seems like such a long time ago now. What about Erik? Have you seen him since then? I have been out on a quest for some time now and just got back very recently. One question. Have you met one Wind Mage, Arasmyth by name? I am supposing he is out on a quest, but seeing that you have been spending more time in the hall than I, in recent weeks, I wonder if you may know of him or on which quest he is." Quote

Or, they were purposefully being ignorant of my existence. "Tell me, do you think it is simple to locate and stab an enemy's nerve cluster from a single run-by?" Quote
