"Docken." Hybros nodded. "Hopefully I will not need those grating stones with this new sword of mine... Eheh." He tipped his hat towards Atramor. "While we are all here, I would like to make a proposition. I am sure all of us... Eh..." He looked at Guts yawning and leaning back in his chair. "Well, most of us, are eager to get out of this Hall again. All of you seem able, we ought to quest together, the four of us... Or five if you wish, Madame." Ellaria seemed preoccupied. "...as soon as another quest goes up of course, eheh."

I look in the direction indicated by Hybros, spotting the healer clad in green.

"I agree with Master Gibbin, we would make a formidable party. I'm not familiar with the Druid, but a dedicated healer is always a good thing to have."

The raider counted out a few bags of coin, totalling to 550 gold, which he placed in front of Hybros. He then scooped up the gems.

"Fine with me, although I am going to get some rest, before doing any of that. If you need me before I am back, come to my ship, the El Alligeon. Green hull, red sails, hard to miss." With that, Guts left the table and the hall, and headed towards the docks.

Atramor raised his eyebrows upon hearing Guts mentioned he owned a ship, and resisted the urge to follow the raider and check it out. He instead nodded to Docken.

"Aye, healin'll be pretty easy with this," he explained, gesturing to the Pheles Rod, slung across his back. "Easy to heal when only one person's gettin' injured, I s'pose. What've you been up to, Docken? Last we met ya' weren't carryin' around a shield like your life depended on it."

"Ah, the Aura effect? It can make things simpler and easier, but you've got to watch out for those Free Hits; they can pile up quickly. I'm sure it helps that you can choose when it's in effect, though.

"I've still got the same shield. I've picked up some good armor, made upgrades to my hat, and made sure that my Health has increased, so I'm not as dependent on the shield as before, but it's still one of the most important pieces of equipment for me. Sometimes it seems like there's a greater force controlling all our encounters and is constantly trying to find ways around my defenses."

OoC:

"Huh. I've never understood the point of all this armor...of course, havin' been in Heroica for a while now, I can understand its usefulness, but you've gotta do more than just take hits or ya' may as well not be fightin' at all. I, for example, like to be able to do everythin' anyone else can do. I've got this staff now, so takin' hits is easy enough. I can heal, too. And with all my weapons and hexin', takin' out enemies is as easy as it's always been. There's more to life than just shields," he suggested, watching the Grating Stone being passed to Guts.

I gave you that thing to teach Docken a lesson, you know, not to sell it so you can go upgrade your shield some more.:laugh:

"Well, I've got these Counterstrike Gloves so I can be dealing guaranteed Damage back while I tank Free Hits, and I traded for this Darksteel Crossbow which deals the Blinded-effect, perfect for disabling enemies while the hard-hitters in the party take them down. Plus the Defense opens up options for my party and me when there's a devastating enemy that we want to kill without targeting it."

OoC: I haven't decided what I'm going to use that Gold for, actually. I intended to use it, as I said in Rules and Discussion, for the upgrade from WP: 14 to WP: 15 upgrade. I might still end up using the Gold to upgrade my weapon, but I had an opportunity to get more Gold for the Grating Stone than it was worth to me.

You could buy this nifty Heavy Flail from me...

"I s'pose. The bigger enemies are definitely the ones ya' gotta look out for...the ones I've faced are too strong to counterstrike 'em to death, unfortunately."

"It is a strategy better used against the middle-Level enemies. But against the higher-Level ones, even if their Health is too high to effectively Counterstrike to death, high Defense can hold them off while their minions are dealt with."

It was dark, as Guts climbed aboard his ship and entered what used to be the captain's cabin. Before, it had been dirty, filled with bones and leathery objects. Now, the raider had filled it with his posessions, and he had practical, wooden furniture made. As he had walked towards the docks, he had heard the high and mighty were all gathered in the same place, a theater of sorts. The raider could not imagine a worse idea, the entire excuse for Eubric's leadership in the same, indefensible place. All it would take was a moderately sized fireball and the city would be in shambles. It wasn't his problem, he told himself, not for now, anyway. Before stepping into his hammock, the raider shook his head once more. Counting the bodies of the clueless elite could wait till the morning, for now, he could rest.

Tesni returned to the hall from her regular coastal run. It was time for some more rest and food. There seemed to be a new quest but she was more interested in the possible ease of simply hitting rats for a while over anything else.

Atramor glanced up the Quest board for a moment, scribbling his name down under Quest 68, and returned to his table, still examining the Pheles Rod with interest.

I enter the hall, my cart trundling behind me. Snacking on a pretzel, I make my way over to the questboard to see if there's anything of importance or significant interest. Seeing a quest about some fangled play I've never heard of, I upturn my nose and snort. Fighting rats? And they require high-ranked heroes. I snort again.

Sounds like someone has cash to splash and they're looking for a popular hero to impress their crowds with. It's poppycock to me!

I look over the next quest. Something about attempting to find the killer of a dead man. I frown.

I don't feel up to this right now. I need a break. The sign-ups are closing in several days, so I can always wait until then and if I feel up for it, I can sign up.

I fondle my pouch of gold, wondering how I could put it to the best use.

Althior wandered back into the hall, figuring he'd had quite enough isolation at this time. Before he made his way up to the bar, he looked at the quest board, realizing a new(er) quest had been posted, he signed his name under Quest #68. As a youth, he'd always adored the theater, and a connection to his past may be just what he needed. With Finnegan trailing behind him, he wandered up the stairs and sat at the bar, wondering who he may see.

"My good man, what the devil is that abomination trailing behind you?" *oh2*

Hearing the Cleric's cry, I follow his gaze to see Althior.

"Master Cleric, that is Finnegan, the aura that serves Master Emorith. Carries around his items and things like that."

"Master Finnegan, I didn't see much of you during our quest to the Fields of Glory. Good to see you."

"Abomination! Why I should..."

Althior laughs at the bar and takes a swig of his drink.

"Master Finnegan, I didn't see much of you during our quest to the Fields of Glory. Good to see you."

"Blame those who can't think of any good dialogue for me." :hmpf_bad:

"Hello Emorith, I believe we have met, somewhere down the line?"

Althior examines Johon closely. "I, met you? I must have been drunk to talk to someone like-" He stops, for he knows something could end up broken, though he believes Johon gets the picture. He smiles, sheepishly, before he gets up and sees his name selected along with others. One name catches his eye. Gibbin. "You must be kidding me..." He mutters. He returns to Johon. "Refresh my memory, would you? How exactly did we meet?"

"Says the guy with a huge cart dragging behind him..." :hmpf:

"Trust me, I'd abandon him if I could. Waist of time, space, and money. He downed an entire jug of ale out at the docks! And don't get me started..." He trails off

"He can't leave me because I'm liked so much. I must be some running gag somewhere..." :innocent:
