"If I get on that quest, I'm betraying the watch. I'm not going to let the poor get stepped on."

Romulus notes the dagger.

"Not bad Dagger, I'd imagine its quite fine craftmanship with a sharp edge. Not bad for a relatively new hero. "

"Thinking about it, I'm not sure Quest71 would be good for me. As you can imagine, I have problems in sewers. "

"You like my dagger? It's a little underwhelming when compared to Sexy, but I still feel attached to the darn thing. My dad gave it to me when I was sixteen. Said it was a family heirloom and that it was mine to keep. I've got through quite a bit with this dagger."

She puts her dagger away and whips out her rapier.

"This is Sexy. I just got her a little while ago in this dump of a port named Brendenton. Still, this rapier's nice."

Talking to Romulus was helping her ease the pain left by the Apprentice, but there was remorse still lingering inside her.

Alexandre actually managed to fall asleep in the extremely quiet Hall. Karie left, and Docken and Guts were talking in really soft whispers. It was almost like a library. He tilts his head back on his seat, rests his arm around the one next to him where the wine was; after he takes off his helmet and attaches it to his belt.

Romulus writes a note. ROMULUS WITHDRAWS FROM 71. Then he pulls out Combrys.

"This blade has been used by me and 2 other heroes. One is now dead, the other wielded it while I was corrupted. "

"This blade was wielded by a dead hero and a dead progg. It doesn't fair well for me at those odds. But I want to do good with this blade. I want to make a difference."

Romulus puts his arm on Karie's shoulder. "We all make mistakes. I got corrupted by an ethereal being. Now, ill never forget that, and I shall always be remorseful about attacking Johon. "

"Just remember one thing. Use the negatives of your past and allow that to shape your actions into a positive future. "

Karie felt better from Romulus reassurance.

"Thanks. It helps knowing I'm not the only one with the same feelings of guilt built up inside me."

She got up and stretched.

"Jeez, I wonder what Johon ups too. Drake wound up following us or something and the two are still at Johon's place. Supposedly the to don't get along. Have you met Drake before? He seems a little... screw loose, don't you think?"

A cleanly written note is placed on the quest board.

"Will the following individuals please meet behind the Beyland Enterprises building at 6:30 sharp. -Abbott Watt"

CHOSEN HEROES FOR QUEST #71:

William Harkenshire (Fred Daniel Yam)

Alexandre le Chevalier (Capt.JohnPaul)

Elgar Gligin (Jedi master Brick)

I will have the quest up in a few hours. In the meantime, go shopping, and get ready for the quest.

"Ahh... I'm familiar with the other two." Alexandre leaves the Hall. He had no need to go shopping, he did before the signups anyways. He walks out and sees Karie on the steps. He walks behind her.

"Karie? I didn't mean to get you upset. I have to leave now, so I hope you can forgive me." Alexandre walks down the steps.

As Alexandre leaves the hall for his quest, Johon walks in. He scans the room and sees Karie and Romulus sitting at a table.

"Is it ok if I sit here?" Johon asks. "I'm sorry about what happened..." Johon says. "I probably went a bit over-board. Drake could have ended up worse, but Mizuki prevented that. Sometimes I am put to the test. I just..." Johon sighs. "Drake really gets on my nerves. I suppose it isn't that big of a deal if he goes to my house, but he doesn't even realizing what he is becoming." After a long pause Johon continues. "Maybe I don't either."

OOC: We're out on the front steps, Johon.

Karie pats the stone steps beside her, motioning for Johon to sit down.

"Don't be so hard on yourself. He gets on my nerves too."

She tosses her dagger up and down, into the air.

"I'm just.. nervous, I suppose. What if I do get out of hand. I doubt that anything extremely bad would've happened to Drake if Mizuki hadn't stopped us, but I don't know. I have to stop myself from getting out of control. Otherwise I might stay that way for good. You know what I mean?"

"To be fair, I haven't seen the Veterans - other than the Copper Fox, nor have I really dealt with the Wolfgang in a quest. I'm just going off of the fact that the Wolfgang is an organization of thieves, gangsters, poisoners, and other felons.

"A party left not too long ago to protect the Houses' leaders at the Foundation Day ball - I believe Master Guffington is there as well - and it was suspected that the Wolfgang might try something there. Hopefully there will be positive news regarding the leading criminal faction when they return."

"Aye, I heard something like that was going on. I doubt Captain Patricia would approve something as dangerous like that, but perhaps she used it to spring a trap on the criminals. As for the veterans... I met all six. You know the Copper Fox. He claims to have been a travelling performer before he became Heroica's instructor. Kulkulkan, the Orcish Shaman. He is fighting for freedom of greenskins, or something like that. Personally, I do not notice racism going on, but if it were my people, I would fight for that too, I think. It's funny, just a week's sailing from here is Strivvi... The Orcish Invasion never reached the content of Abra, and Orcs, Humans live in harmony, for how much that is possible. Perhaps it's easy being human, we outnumber every other race. No one's gonna dare oppress us." The raider shrugged, and continued:

"There is the Dragonlord, Cain Tiamateus. Ancestor to one of the legendary heroes. A Dastanian Dragoon, who keeps a dragon, locked beneath Eubric. I'm not a fan of dragons, seen too many good people die by them, but to keep such a creature in the dark, where it can not spread it's wings and do what it is meant to do, fly... It seems wrong. Just wrong. There is the Oracle Serimames, the Sand Queen. She gave me a prophecy, that I would find the right path through pain. Nonsense. There is the Norn, whose name I can not pronounce. She calls herself the Valkyrie. She tries hard for her people, but she seems cold as well. Perhaps it's her nature, but I am wary of her. I think she would kill anyone who'd stand in her way, be it man, woman or child. Lastly... There is the Falconer. Hestia Bonaparte. I'd say she's the one I think the highest of, although she is effectively in two positions of power, can't be easy... The veterans seem mostly tied up in their own problems. I have never noticed a grain of leadership from their part. When the time comes, I hope they will take charge, and be effective in doing it. So far, I'm unimpressed."

"That is interesting. As you say, it seems that the Veterans have moved on from the duties of Heroica and are dealing with problems of their own. I suppose I always imagined they would stay in some war room or council room somewhere in the depths of this Hall, keeping track of everything we all did at all times. Making sure we represent the organization well, and things like that."

The raider grins: "I guess it's up to us then. Whatever you do, do it right. We show everyone what it means to be big damn heroes, everywhere we go." The raider turns his head: "Hm, I still don't feel comfortable calling myself a "hero", we're sellswords. Good ones, but still."

"Not heroes by the strictest definition of the word, perhaps, but that is what the public seems to refer to us as. Probably largely out of respect for the six original Veterans. Yes, I suppose lounging in a hall enjoying the free food and drink and waiting for the next quest with the best reward doesn't exactly embody the noble qualities one would expect to see in a hero. The heroic achievements and the bravery, they are certainly there, but the willingness to sacrifice oneself and the performing of such acts simply for the good of others...not always."

Drake woke up, found a rock and threw it at Johon.

"Don't you try and think of my future. I can do that by myself, you know!"

"He... kind of has a point, really. I mean, it is his future. He can choose what he wants to be."

Meanwhile, in Drake's mind...

"Lovely coffee. I prefer tea, though. Or better yet, hot cocoa!"

Drezzd picked up a cup of hot cocoa and carefully sipped it, before seeing something that made him tremble to the knees.

For in front of him, was a pitch black, slimy thing.

And it looked like a giant claw.

Drezzd stepped back, as the shadowy claw grew. It became a more advanced shape. One that the claw was part of. It was growing... into a giant dragon of unimaginable power.

OoC: Where would Drake find a rock next to the quest board? Also, how exactly does he throw it out of the hall towards the steps? Aren't the doors normally closed?

Johon gets hit in his head with the rock, turns around, seeing that Drake had thrown it.

"Have you ever listened to a piece of advice anyone has given you? Sometimes people try to help you, ya' know. Don't go throwing stones at people trying to help, especially ones that can beat the crap out of you."

Romulus leaps up, spins on the ball of his foot and Karie and Johon witness him grow taller, yet again in his more beastial form.

"You better watch it, you idiot. Do you want me to rip your head off your damn shoulders?"

IC: De'kra heard something someways away from where he was training, towards the steps of the hall. It sounded like raised voices. Sighing despite his lack of a mouth, he reabsorbed his diamond into his armor, and walked towards the steps.

Karie got up from her spot and pushed the two of them back, to ensure they wouldn't get at each other's throat.

"Will you two stop it?! We're getting nowhere with you lot bickering and threatening one another, particularly after what happened only a few hours ago! I think we all need to chill out, and let this slide. Drake, I have clue why you'd abandon us back at in that alley, but at this rate, I just don't want to deal with this nonsense. Jeez this is getting stressful!"

Posted

Romulus sees Karie trying to stop Johon, and possibly himself, so he yanks Johon back.

"Calm down."

Following his own advice, he manages to appear human yet again. "Drake, I'd advise you to leave me and Johon alone, because neither of us would be held for our actions if you ty something that stupid again. Take my advice."

He then turns to Karie. "Thanks Karie, sometimes my anger just takes over, awkward side effect, as you could probably imagine."

IC: The situation looked like it might resolve itself, so De'kra chose to return to training back where he was. Channeling his power he let fly focused light energies into the sky, safe from damages. He still remained close enough to the others to be in earshot, just in case.
