Shoker86 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Arnulf strode in the Hall, he saw Sorrow talking with guy with shaven head. He didn't want to interrupt two busy heroes. He headed down to questboard to see if there was new quest, and it was. He saw some familiar names on the list, and added his name to quest 70.He sat down to his table waiting for fellows from quest or some other familiar faces. Hi sipped the beer, it felt so good after quest. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) "Hm. Haven't had any experience with the man, but I figured Ulric to be more careful than that. Why would he risk sending all his lieutenants at once? And it is no surprise there are mages working with the Wolfgang, I heard their hideout is impossible to find, even with magic aid. At least no one important died, impressive." The raider looked at the cat suit, a trophy, probably. For a moment, Guts wondered if he should buy it for Nerwen, she would be highly... effective in it, no doubt. Looking at Sorrow's hand, Guts says: "Don't be a fool, get that looked at. A bow is hard to draw with a single useful hand." Edited May 31, 2013 by Scubacarrot Quote
Endgame Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 "There is nothing to infect, is there? I fear this little injury will be staying..." I pause before continuing. "...Personal reasons, Guts." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) "If you say so, I can't pretend to understand how you work. If self-mutilation is your thing..." After a short pause, Guts asked: "Do you even feel pain?" Edited May 31, 2013 by Scubacarrot Quote
Endgame Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I shrug. "Some places more than others. This thing hurts like hell, but I'm keeping it intact for... someone." I look pensively down at my mauled hand, bristling with glass. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Guts looked away, twisting his face to not show what he thought about that reasoning. "Right. How much for the suit?" After a moment, he added: "Not for myself." Quote
Endgame Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) "Name your offer. What, I'm quite certain they'd go spectacularly with your dancing shoes!" I add under my breath. Edited May 31, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 The raider raised an eyebrow, and said dryly: "Oh I'm sure I have the figure for it, but black is not my colour. I'm not interested in bartering, just name what you had in mind. If you had nothing in mind, you wouldn't have put it up for sale." Quote
Endgame Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 "I'm operating off of a highest bidder basis, here. I have the feeling half the women in Heroica Hall want their hands on that damn suit, and all of the men just want to see another woman in it." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 The raider smirks: "Very well. I'll leave you to it then. Well done... on protecting the Houses." With that, the raider stood up, and headed for his original reason of getting up in the first place, the bar. Quote
Flipz Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) As the first rays of light begin to peek over the spires of the Cathedral of Commerce, Arthur walks into the Hall, somewhat refreshed but still the worse for wear. His hurried investigations hadn't gone well so far, but one intriguing name had come up: 'Guts Holla'. A quick search of the Library had indicated the man was a Hero, so as far as Arthur was concerned he'd be an excellent contact to make in his investigation regardless of what he knew--ears that hadn't heard anything yet might do so later. After a sparse but unhurried breakfast, he leaned back against the bar and spotted his quarry talking to Sorrow. The undead made his own careworn features seem positively youthful, but he didn't have time to consider it much as Guts ended the conversation and made his way to the bar. "Just the man I was hoping to see," he says by way of opening the conversation. "I think we've met in passing, but I don't believe we've been properly introduced. Private Regulus of the Town Watch, Sorcerer of Heroica." Arthur extends both his hands to the Raider: the right one empty, the left holding a bottle of well-aged torchberry wine. He waits for the older man to accept or ignore the gesture before he continues. Edited May 31, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Guts turns around. He says calmly: "Yes, we've met. You betrayed your fellow heroes. I gave you some advice." The raider looks at the bottle, and says: "I appreciate the gesture, but I prefer a good Charissian Red, and Scheherazade makes sure she's stocked. Is there something I can help you with, Private Regulus of the Town Watch, and Sorcerer or Heroica?" The raider raised an eyebrow after saying the last words, then added: "Guts Holla." Quote
Flipz Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) Arthur shrugs, and withdraws the wine; he knew someone at the Barracks would probably appreciate it. "There is, as a matter of fact. Word is around the Barracks, you know pretty much everyone in this town who's worth knowing--even Captain Patricia. So I figured you'd be the Hero best suited to help me with this." "As you probably know, there was an...incident last night at the Foundation Day Ball. Captain Patricia will probably announce it publicly later this morning, but long story short we killed three of the Wolfgang generals--I say 'we' not just as a member of the Watch, but also as one of the Heroes who killed Violetta and Donny." He pauses, considering how best to frame his next words. "Before she died, Violetta--or 'Kayla Raltyn', as I've learned her name to be--mentioned something. A name. I want to find out who this person is, and make sure she's not a threat to Eubric. Have you met anyone by the name of 'Karie'? Someone who might have ties to the Wolfgang or some other criminal element?" Edited May 31, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Scubacarrot Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 "The Watch says that? I haven't seen Captain Patricia in two years, and even then I wouldn't say I know her." The raider mumbled under his breath: "Guess I must have left an impression over the many times I escaped from their prisons..." The raider scraped his chin, then continued: "I've heard of the events from Sorrow. Some good work, there. I can't say I live up to that reputation, but I have heard someone call themselves Karie quite recently, very recently in fact... Why do you care what her last words were? They're often as important as our first... I doubt you're doing right by doing this. But... you still have something to prove, I guess... " The raider waved Arthur over to railing and pointed at the red haired girl near Heroica's doors. "I caught her sneaking around on my ship, before I threw her in the bay, she mentioned she's called Karie. A member of Heroica, apparantly. Hope that helps your investigation. Don't do anything stupid, Private Regulus." The raider did a mocking salute, before returning to the bar. Quote
Shoker86 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) Arnulf felt he needed little competition aproached the bald man near the bar. "How about some fast drinking competition. You seem like a better drinker and hard man , but you're not Guts The Raider. I heard he has long blonde hair, so up for a challenge sir?" Edited May 31, 2013 by Shoker86 Quote
Tanma Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 IC: De'kra finished practicing with his diamond, and reentered the hall. As he walked in he spotted Arthur...talking to Guts. From Quest 20. De'kra decided to wait away, until Arthur was done talking. In the meantime he could try to organize his thoughts, for when he could talk to Arthur. Quote
LordoftheNoobs Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Grimwald wearily shuffled into the hall, and signed up for quest 70. Quote
Zepher Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Boomingham stumbles into the Hall. He looks tired beyond belief. A bottle is already in hand, and after a few months of being... more sober than he normally is, Boomingham appears to have fallen off the wagon a little bit more than usual. He catches himself on the Quest Board and with a loose, almost unreadable signature, signs himself up for Quest 70. "Damn Wolfgang," he mumbles. He slouches his way over to a chair in the corner near the fire and glances around for his fellow heroes who are usually near the fire. Hybros doesn't seem to be around, and Hoke is likewise missing. The only man he recognizes is the gruff figure Guts, walking away from Sorrow. He simply nods at the bald raider and then sips his bottle and closes his eyes. If someone wanted to speak to him, they would. OoC: Seriously, if you want to talk to him, do! He's tired, I'm not. Quote
JimBee Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Hybros, lurking in the shadows, as usual, notes the group of heroes who had gone to the Foundation Day Ball at the theater return through the Hall doors. Boomingham's thick eyebrows seemed to weigh down on his eyes. He held a bottle in his hand, so Hybros approached, pulling a chair gently from the table and sitting in it. "Lawrence. Eheh, it has been a while. I must have just missed you before you went to the theater, how was your quest?" Quote
Zepher Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Boomingham smiled to see his little friend, and thought back to their last meeting. "I'm another year older," Boomingham mumbles to himself in shock. "It is good to see you my little friend. Over a year, it seems. Strange how time flies when you're having fun. Who else haven't I seen since then? I think Nur was there, and Haldor... certainly Cinna, Tesni, Eric... and that mage Althior too." Boomingham tries to recall when he had seen any of them last, where they might be, what they might be up to... "Oh, and Guts. But I've seen him since then. Met his Bonapartes too." "You heard about the Theatre? I met your Jei Pi there. The woman was polite enough, at first. I offered her condolences on her son." Boomingham sighs deeply. "When Guts and I last spoke, we discussed the political state of Eubric. I told him change, if it were to come, had to be violent, and it looks like it is. Change does not come quickly in peace." Boomingham downs the rest of his bottle with noisy slurps. "I was not impressed by the elite of Eubric. They reminded me too much of myself when I was King." Boomingham slouches back. "They are rude and ignorant. They shirk the responsibility they've gained. But the Wolfgang is worse, and so we protect them." Boomingham knows he is obligated to ask how Hybros' quests have been, but for now he is too tired. He just wonders what his old friend has to say. Quote
Costy Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I walk back into the hall and pass Arthur the Spider Leg. "I never gave this back to you, and I believe you still have something of mine." After exchanging the goods with Arthur, I walk over to Sorrow. "What the hell happened to you?" Quote
Flipz Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Arnulf felt he needed little competition aproached the bald man near the bar. "How about some fast drinking competition. You seem like a better drinker and hard man , but you're not Guts The Raider. I heard he has long blonde hair, so up for a challenge sir?" Arthur opens his mouth to agree with Guts and thank him for his help, but suddenly the Rogue from the Theatre hobbles up to the bar and manages to make a complete fool of himself. He tactfully ducks out from between them before things can take an ugly turn. After glancing over his shoulder to make sure Arnulf wasn't following him, he tries to catch sight of the woman Guts had pointed out, but before he can spot her again he runs into Nagure. I walk back into the hall and pass Arthur the Spider Leg. "I never gave this back to you, and I believe you still have something of mine." "Oh, right, of course. Thank you. You fought well, Nagure, I wish I could have given you more." Arthur removes the Sticky Gloves and gives them back to Nagure, quietly slipping 50 Gold into them as he goes. The Yeti walks away to Sorrow, and with the massive creature's bulk in the way Arthur can hardly see anyone else in that direction, let alone this "Karie" person. He shakes his head. "Time enough for that later, I suppose." Seeing that Boomingham had arrived, he starts over for his promised Flaming Gumball, but has to stop suddenly to avoid a flittering Barty. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see--" Boomingham's next words stop Arthur short. Boomingham sighs deeply. "When Guts and I last spoke, we discussed the political state of Eubric. I told him change, if it were to come, had to be violent, and it looks like it is. Change does not come quickly in peace." Arthur stops dead. Was this it, then? Had he made yet another wrong choice? Arthur runs a hand up his face, then back down the side of his head. "Damn it," he mutters, as much to himself as to the guardian angel in front of him. "Is there even a right side? Or a right way? Or is everything I do just guaranteed to come out making things even worse?" Edited June 1, 2013 by Flipz Quote

Zepher Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Boomingham waves Arthur over. "Ignore Barty, he's been all prissy since we killed Steerpike." "Not since then," says Barty. "Since you got drunk as a skunk afterwards. I was very pleased with you when you killed Steerpike. It's that Baba I don't like. When she sang... there are very few things on the mortal plane that affect me like that..." "That's what worries me. The houses looked as if they were going in the right direction. Then she arrived." Boomingham spits. "Those who abuse the power they have disgust me more than anything. I'm sorry, where are my manners. Arthur, this is my good friend Hybros, one of the sharpest minds and sharpest blades Heroica has to offer. Hybros, this is Arthur. He's proven himself able bodied." Quote
Flipz Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) "We've met, briefly. A pleasure to see you again, Master Hybros." The imp seemed familiar to the Sorcerer, but it took a few moments for the realization behind the impression to kick in. "You own a Plaything." It wasn't a question, nor an expression of awe, or even an acknowledgement of kinship. It just...was; if anything, a mere statement of realization--or was it fascination? In any case, the moment is quickly dropped. "But that's irrelevant. Lord Boomingham, a moment ago you mentioned that change must be violent. But if that's the case, how is it possible to change things without...well, without becoming a villain? Like the Wolfgang, or, Wren...or, as I've come to realize, me? To overthrow through disorder, disruption...Chaos...I have seen that evil. Been that evil. Yet I still see the evils within Order as well. Is it even possible to achieve real good in the world, or are we all just deluding ourselves by calling ourselves Heroes? A 'Hero Who Is Actually Worth Something'... It just seems like...well, for all we did in that building, we didn't achieve much in the long run, did we? It feels like these fancy titles Patricia gave us are just a well-meaning lie. Like we didn't really earn them. Or more accurately, like I didn't really earn mine." Edited June 1, 2013 by Flipz Quote
