Professor Flitwick Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 "Thothy! You know these gentlemen? I would guess you do by the way you greet them, and it gladdens me to see you greet them so positively." she turns her wide and warm smile on Hoptet too "And your beau! Hoptet, it's lovely to meet you, I've heard so much about you! You must miss old Thothy while he's away, but don't worry, we all look out for each other. Well, most of us do, but that's another matter. Oh, now where are my manners?" "Yes, Ms. Nyx. I met these two gentlemen during my first Quest here, where Wren first unveiled herself. Not the most happiest of memories. but memories still the same." Thothwick looked from the Ranger to the Imp. "I'm sure you would've been valuable assets in the Shrine of Zoot." "Hi-low Nix. I do, but I'm many times busy learning Humanish to notice! Ha!" and with that Nyx runs off to the bar to collect a tray full of Flaming Gumballs to share with the table. Thothwick tentative sipped his Flaming Gumball, and nodded approvingly. Hoptet, on the other hand, seemed less apprehensive of the new beverage, and downed it in one. "Thothy are you still trying to recruit people to the anti-witch movement of yours? You know I support you, but I can't include Atramor in the group of people you want to oust, no matter how much he might make me want to punch him sometimes. Oh, and while I remember, Larry said I should speak to you about some bombs?" Thothwick sighed, not in disbelief, in restraint. "Ms. Nyx, it's... difficult, to say the least, to be told that a friend is 'bad', or 'wrong' or some variation. Believe me, I know of where I speak. But, the things he's done. He's dangerous. Constance, Triad, Gnash, Hans, the list goes on, I'm sure. Wren yearned for divinity. Baba seeks to rule Eubric. And Atramor... likes watching things die. He's ill, they all are. Rest assured, Ms. Nyx, I'm not going to attempt to recruit you, I'm aware it would be fruitless. I do hope this won't create a divide between us." Thothwick took a larger sip of his Flaming Gumball. "Aha, yes, I recall missed dividing my spoils." Thothwick leant across the table, and handed Nyx three of his Cosmic Essences. "Where is Lord Boomingham, he deserves his share... oh, the explosive, quite." Thothwick heaved the Chaotic bomb on to the table. "Is this the device that you were referring to?" Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 "Yes, Ms. Nyx. I met these two gentlemen during my first Quest here, where Wren first unveiled herself. Not the most happiest of memories. but memories still the same." Thothwick looked from the Ranger to the Imp. "I'm sure you would've been valuable assets in the Shrine of Zoot." "Yes, unfortunately, I seem to have developed a knack for discovering villains and then missing later encounters with them. I was in the Fields when Lady Wren was defeated, and now I hear that the bog witch Baba made an appearance while I was sitting around in the Hall making trades." Quote
Zepher Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 A familiar worried face ducks into the Hall and reads over the sign-ups for 72. "Oh, good, they're all returning, hopefully all these returning heroes will be able to keep Guffington safe." He tacks a piece of paper on top of the sign-ups, nods to Docken, Hybros and Guts, and leaves the Hall. Quest 72 Party Hybros *Party Leader* Guts Holla Docken Nyx OoC: Scuba, Pandora, comment in the discussion thread or something when you're back from your vacation! Then we'll get a move on. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I move to look at the Quest Board, returning U'Ordiussum's nod as he exits. "Excellent." Quote
JimBee Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Nyx nods along as Hybros talks; he seemed to have considered the world and the people in it. She wasn't sure if she agreed or not, the answer most likely was "probably", but it was certainly an interesting conversation. Nyx looks thoughtful for a while, frowning, before answering. "Do you know, I'm really not sure.. The life I had before, the abilities I have and my desires for the world all sort of led me here. I just want to make sure that anyone can get help from the strong, just by asking. It makes me feel... respectable, I guess. I admit I like the occasional rewards, but I'm not here for the money, no matter how much I like having some coin to spend, but pretty much all I have I spend to make myself ready for the next quest, the next opportunity to do something ... worthwhile. I suppose that all I want to accomplish is having done something to be proud of." Hybros nods. Pride in work, now that was something. "Nyx, I hope you come with us. You have a... strong heart, and we will need that when dealing with someone like Guffington, eheh." Hybros watched as a familiar U'Kin stepped into the Hall to post a notice to the Quest Board. "Well it appears we do not have to hope. Welcome to the team, Nyx." Hybros also noticed that he was marked as the party leader. It must have been some sort of mistake... clearly Guts was the better leader. But if it wasn't... he frowned, remembering the first and only time he lead a party, on his last quest. A failure. Quote
xxlrocka Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Drake looked at the questboard and shrugged. A little work couldn't hurt! Although, he was a little suspicious about what the packages might be... a good reason to join! Drake quickly grabbed a quill and signed up for Quest #73! Then he climbed up to the top of the stairs. His only weakness, but with some actual effort he could do it. Standing triumphantly, Drake cried out "Any of y'all been to the Foundation Day thingy-ma-jiggy-bob?" in a loud but totally-not-distracting voice. Then he collapsed at the top and let out a big puff of breath, his face red. Realising it was very hot in his armour, he took it off, revealing his old, torn peasant clothes that he found in the forest. Quote
Endgame Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I absentmindedly raise my glass-barbed hand in response to the knight's outburst. Quote
xxlrocka Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Drake turned to Sorrow. "Hey, who are you? Are you new? Actually, doesn't matter. Tell me about the Foundation Day." Quote
Endgame Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I snort. "Try to see if you can squeeze any info out of that alcohol addled brain of yours. The word "maginastra" bring back any memories?" Quote
xxlrocka Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Drake smiled as the very mention brought back great memories. "Oh yeah... him. I remember how I couldn't choose between which side so I just chose a random one and..." Drake snapped back into reality. "Wait... are you the Maginastra?" Quote
Endgame Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I was tempted to smack this knight with my glassy hand. Laceration tends to be a bit too painful for my tastes, though... "Look, I'm afraid if I tell you what happened last night, your mind is just going to drift off into whatever dimension it currently resides in. Are you currently firmly anchored to reality? This reality?" Quote
xxlrocka Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 "I'm pretty sure I'm anchored to all realities." Dak facepalmed himself and wandered back inside Drake. Drake's eyes instantly turned red. "He isn't, but he'll still end up listening anyway." Quote

Tachyon Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Mizuki signs up for quest 73 before going to the bar to get a plate of cookies from the bar. Walking towards the stairs she sees Sorrow talking to some guy. She climbs the stairs and offers Sorrow a cookie. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Guts walks back into the hall, in armour, and ready to go. The raider raised an eyebrow when he saw that he was chosen, unsurprisingly, but that Hybros was appointed as Leader. Not that it would matter. The Imp was capable, so Guts was sure he would do a fine job. Before joining the people he would be on the quest with, the raider ordered two bottles of Charissian Red, corked. Quote
xxlrocka Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Drake looked at Romulus. "It's okay. I'm his friend! I was there for him back in his early days as a hero." "Hey, speaking of which, who are you?" Quote

I sigh, and, glancing at my mutilated hand, begin my curt explanation of last night.[ "Okay. Foundation day ball. Demonc desserts attacked. All three Wolfgang generals came and got massacred. Songstress who turned out to be an ancient witch brainwashed the houses. We also killed some dinosaurs. The end." Edited June 9, 2013 by Endgame Quote

Darth Nihilus Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Dak finally wandered back into the hall after what had seemed like an eternity, despite the fact that he had made rather good time both on the way to his grandparents' village and on the way back. Feeling rather numb, he walked into the reassuringly familiar surroundings of the Hall and practically fell backwards against the nearest wall, barely registering the other Heroes as he did. One did stand out - a man that he had not spoken to since he had left the Hall the first time.. one of the few, too few, people that Dak actually counted as a friend, or at least as a worthy companion in battle. "Guts..." Dak formed the word silently, feeling altogether too weak to speak. His eyes remained half-closed as he watched Guts, who appeared to be preparing for battle. As he did, his mind managed to slip to the events of the past week, most notably the day he had arrived at the farmhous that had been his home for quite some time.. He had ridden in, cloaked in black with his weapons on his belt, despite the fact that he was quite sure there was no danger here. His grandmother had looked up to greet him, although she seemed ready to turn away when she saw his garb. "So, you've done it then," she stated, with an edge of sorrow in her voice. "You've followed in your parent's footsteps." "Indeed I have, although, as I see it, I had little choice." "He died today, Dak. Hours ago." Sorrow coursed through Dak once again. His grandfather, who had been both mentor and protector to him for so many years, had passed from this life, mere hours before Dak arrived. How could he have let this happen? How could Dak have become so unsure of his purpose that he would let one of the few people he ever truly cared for in his life die without him? Dak had known it was coming, ever since he had recieved the letter several days ago, back at the Hall. He had left nearly at once, but had stayed for nearly an hour longer to speak to a group of other Heroes. And now, his grandfather was gone. Dak hoped, bitterly, that the gods were happy with the creation of their tool. He had known from day one, his parent's death, that this was part of some larger plot by the celestial beings. He was, in some way, significant to the gods, and they were going to make sure he went through enough hardship to turn him into a useful tool. This was merely the latest of their mad schemes to make him controllable. He shrugged off his grandmother's arm as she attempted to comfort him; he was beyond the point of grief now. No, now he was fueled by rage, and despite that being what he knew the gods wanted of him, he was determined that he would be no pawn of theirs, now or ever. He turned away and headed back for his horse, considering several ways to stop the celestial plans for him. Killing himself would probably bring an end to the torment, but that could, quite possibly, be the celestial "plan" for him - he could be the lynchpin in a complex social web that would collapse if he died. He didn't know exactly how his death could cause something important, but the possibility was still there. Several other possibilities popped out at him - he could attempt to kill the gods, but that would be a mission he would never come back from, and killing a god was likely impossible. For the moment, the best ideas Dak seemed to have for action was to, quite simply, do nothing - continue with his life as a Hero, and attempt to undermine the gods in any way he could while doing it. Admittedly, it did not seem like a very effective course of action, but it was the most viable he could think of at the time. "Dak!Wait!" he heard his grandmother shout, and he turned to face her. "There's something you should see," she said simply, and turned back towards the farmhouse. Dak turned reluctantly from the horse and followed her, heading back into what was, by all measures, his childhood home. -- The memories heading to a point that was far too painful, Dak snaps himself back to the present. Attempting to push further memories from his mind, Dak gets up wearily and walks out of the Hall, hoping to find somewhere safe to stay until more permanent lodging for him could be found. Quote

You have my fire." she bows, half jokingly and half seriously. She meant the sentiment, but was being deliberately over-the-top formal about it. "I think I'd best go and make sure I have everything in order before we set off. I'll meet you all at the allotted location. Toodles." she waves her hand, smiling happily as she scampers off, high heels clicking on the floor, to do whatever it was she needed to do to prepare. Quote
