Heckz gives Karie a suspicious look "How do you know my name? I'm sorry, sometimes I have a case of bad memory."

Karie rolled her eyes. Typical Heckz.

"I'm Karie? Don't you remember? Me and you chatted before you went off to the cemetery?"

"Karie... Karie... Kar- OH YES, Karie Alderflask! How have you been?"

On his way from the marketplace to the Ji Pei palace, Thalion makes a quick stop at the Hall. He immediately notices Arnulf and Sarge and joins them, "Hello pirates! Arnulf, you old gambler, I have something you might find interesting, knowing how much you dislike magic..." He says with a smile and takes out Duplovian helmet and hands it to the rogue.

"Thank you Thalion, it could be usefull. Here take my Emerald hood, it could use you well this quest. How are you old mate? You were on quest while I was away?"

Karie shrugged.

"Well, I'm alive. That counts for something!"

She chuckled as she put her feet up on the table.

"I've actually been doing alright for once. I haven't been outright humiliated in a while which is good, and I've got some new duds. I can heal people now, which is nice, and I've got some nifty poisoning powers. Yeah, I'm surprising not overtly sour about anything."

Karie tries her hardest to avoid Arnulf, despite being right next to her, talking to Haldor and Thailon.

Heckz gives Karie a weird look "When have you been humiliated?"

"Thank you Thalion, it could be usefull. Here take my Emerald hood, it could use you well this quest. How are you old mate? You were on quest while I was away?"

Thalion bows as he receives the hood, "Thank you very much, this looks like a great headwear! I am good and yes, I was indeed, as a matter of fact I was just in the marketplace in preparation for a new quest. We are going to help the Ji Pei! How has your quest gone? I trust you were successful?"

"Countless occasions. Too many to count. I could go into great detail but I'll spare myself the torture by telling you of one tale. When I flunked university and dropped out, during my pickpocket days, I attempted to get myself an acting gig. Needless to say I got one: as a performer for a children's play based off the legends of Terra Chima. I still have the outfit somewhere in my house. I don't know why I still have it, I just do."

Karie swills her orange juice about, trying to listen in on Arnulf's conversation.

"Well, my father was from Dastan originally, so I never picked up the accent. My sister didn't either."

Karie mulled over her orange juice before swiping the alcohol from Haldor, taking a long swig.

"Thanks. As for the makeup, it's what I do, I suppose. I do it because I want to."

Was she hiding herself away, especially after what happened yesterday? She still felt off from yesterday.

"I feel the same way about Charis. My adoptive mother wasn't the nicest of people."

I consider this table family. If you wish to sit here, fine. But I expect a monthly fee. As for my last quest, it went well. Blew up a warehouse."

Karie kept a straight face and continued to drink Haldor's liquor. It was strong enough to make her cough after another long drink.

"Sister? How's she doing, did she come over to Eubric with you, or is she elsewhere? My family is all over in Vartland still, if you could call 'em that. When I left, I was leaving the whole lot behind and I wouldn't want it any other way. I have - used to have, a brother you know, name was Leif. He was good to me... dead now of course."

Haldor stopped. He realised that he hadn't mentioned to anyone his brother, and just uttering his name brought back painful memories.

"So, I hope you're doing better than me in this place. You are sure of what you want, I like that. Don't let anyone tell you to be different - keep your face painted if it makes you happy, lass. Tough luck with your adoptive parents, not really much you could do. That's the thing about parents, you're stuck doing what they make you until you're old enough to shout loader. She ever beat you? Got it ever day from my father. Whether it was my sword-arm not swinging hard enough, or my crying when the other boys hit me; he liked to give me it whenever he could. 'Making me into a man', he called it."

The nord broke the mood with a hearty chuckle.

"That fee apply to me, Karie?"

"No, she never beat me up. I do remember her threatening me on multiple occasions. She's... a very outspoken woman. She often called me a "street urchin" or a "good-for-nothing tramp". I realized why just recently. She treated my older sister perfectly fine. It was me she didn't like. She did almost hit my sister for sticking up to me, until my adoptive father stepped in. I suppose blood is thicker than water."

Karie lingers on the thought before pulling herself out of it.

"My sister's still out in Charis I believe, finishing with her studies. We got along really good. I don't know if she figured out I was adopted, but either way she didn't care."

Karie chuckled as well.

"It's fine. You're okay here."

"Acting, eh? That sounds like a laugh. I love a good play, ones with dragons and pretty girls are the best."

"Opera? You don't come off as an Opera buff. It usually was a good laugh, what with the stuff I did back at the club and all."

"Anything interesting?, I haven't seen the board yet" Arnulf said "I would like some rest, but if there's something good. I may sign up."

"I believe there is currently only one quest up for signing, the one for the Hinckwell family. If that's interesting to you... Whatever you decide, I think the rest will do you good, you look like you've been through a lot..."

"Yep, treason ain't something you want to see ever again" Arnulf sighed "Remember old Ben at the camp, the one who betrayed our employer, so they crucified him. Those guards, even sellswords have strict rules about that. I hoped I won't see traitors in my ranks again, but I was wrong. How Mages punished traitors at the academy?"

"That's not a childhood I would envy, to be sure. I'm glad to hear that there is someone who held you up there. D'you ever think you'll go back to see her? Might be a nice surprise, if you can get away from this hall for a few months. Me, I don't plan on ever going home, there's nothing left for me there."

Haldor mimed tipping a hat with one hand.

"Honoured that you consider me good enough company to avoid your toll, m'lady."

At Karie's last sentence, the shaman laughed again.

"Opera? Oh gods, not me. They're them southern things when no-one can utter but a few words without bursting into song, right? Sometimes they don't even sing languages you can understand, what's that all about? No, the kind I'm talking about are the plays where actors re-enact great battles and sing songs of legends past. I like those. In our village the bards would always put on a good show before we had our feasts. In some ways I'm jealous of the great viking heroes, they never had any of our problems. To think, all they had to do was hack up some big ugly trolls, and that was that... got themselves a big strong woman to warm their bed, and all the ale in the world for their troubles."

[Duvors]

Karie motions for the dwarf to take a seat.

"As a somewhat experienced member, let me tell you something. Drake is a little... off. If he gets on your nerves, just find someone else to sit with. Like myself. Now then, what were you two arguing about? Drinks? Muscles? A girlfriend?"

"I don't drink,I don't brag about strength,and I intend to die a bachelor."

"He tried to tell Me how to enjoy Myself,thats when,for the second time,I manage to introduce Myself to people who run a state with out being thrown out on My ear."

Heckz looks at Karie in disgust "God I hate plays, I prefer books. Gotta go fight spooks again, goodbye."

Before heading to the cementery Heckz went to the Marketplace.

"Treason!? That is a serious crime... Fortunately, there were no traitors in the academy, I suppose no one is willing to test themselves to mage's wrath..." Thalion says smiling, "But if there were I suppose they would have been stripped of their ether along with their affinity for it, and expelled. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go. We'll talk more next time. Stay safe!" Thalion leaves the Hall, and heads towards the Ji Pei Palace.

"Infiltration, sounds like a good quest. Reward is good, and it won't start so soon" Arnulf signs up for quest #77 "Mission far away from here would be nice for a change"

When Alexander reaches the Quest Board to search for any interesting quest, his eyes are attracted by Quest 77. He takes a moment to read the description and the party requirements and after he thinks "This could be a great quest." then Alexander signs up for Quest 77 putting his signature under the other names.

Elgar got up from the bar and moved towards the notice board while trying not to fall over. He did not now how long he had be out for but it felt like his head had been hit by a lemon wrapped around a brick. He noticed there was a new quest on the board and decided he should do something useful instead of drinking away his brain cells. Elgar signs up for quest 77
