Scorpiox Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Haldor laughed into his ale, nearly choking at Throlar's words. "Ha ha! You're hysterical, mate, I haven't heard a single word of sense from your lips since you first came into this hall." Quote

Bricksandparts Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Johon sits at a table, and sighs. He couldn't bring himself to ask her. She seemed about the only one that he thought he could relate to. But it dawned on him that his opportunity may soon slip away. Johon gets up and walks over to Arthur. "We meet again, Arthur." Johon says, extending his arm to shake. Then, Johon sighs. He remains silent for a few seconds before bringing himself to ask the question. "So... What exactly happened with Karie?" Quote

Flipz Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 (edited) "I suppose one does. Then again considering my previous profession, it happened to me more often than not. Singing out for no apparent reason besides a character having to explain his or her emotions." Karie looks at Arthur worryingly. She had a gut feeling he was going to do something stupid. "You have feelings towards me, don't you?" Karie, not sure she wants to know the answer to the question, turns about and heads to the door. "If you wanna talk Arthur I'll be at my place, I have some errands to run." Karie opens the door, only for it to fall from it's hinges and nearly crush her. "Someone really ought to fix that door." Karie reupholsters the door, deciding to grab some screws and new hinges while she was out. Karie leaves the hall, cape billowing behind her. Arthur wasn't sure he wanted to know the answer to that question, either. What good could possibly come of it? He felt a sense of...was it relief?...as Karie exited the Hall. He was...well, to quote another song, happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time. He sighed. This was not going to be simple. And really, at this point, that's all I want. Elgar hands over the badge to Arthur "How generous, pleasure doing business with you." "And the same to you, Master Gligin," Arthur says, handing over the gold. "Valiar valiar eiraf ei ai onin, Geldrian keldiarn valiar." "That" said Throlar to Haldor "is one verse from the longest lay on Olegaia. A long lay,but not particularly sad like the short thing you just heard." "Come, good watchman"called Throlar addressing Arthur"and let us speak of anything but music." Arthur opened up his mouth to reply to the dwarf, but before he could the man was wrapped up in a conversation with Haldor. Not wanting to risk yet another fight, he returns back up the stairs to his work. Rifling through the papers, he found mention of a Theatre in Bric'lin, and a number of treasures that party had taken from it. Atramor and Althior...and they're both still breathing? Who would have thought? His attention fell upon a particular coat of armor that would greatly interest Lord Knyghton, when Johon walked up to him. Johon sits at a table, and sighs. "So... What exactly happened with Karie?" Arthur shakes the Raider's hand. "Good to see you again, Johon. It's been a while, hasn't it?" He pauses. "I'm sorry. It's...not my story to tell." He gazes wistfully toward the Hall doors. "She's been through a lot. I hope Masson remembers that." EDIT because I need to not drag this out: As he waits for Johon's response, Arthur continues making minor notes collating the data from the manuscripts. As he does so, he spots another mention of the armor that had been mentioned before...owned by Ellaria. Interesting...yes, I'll definitely want this. Getting up from his table and nodding to Johon that it was all right to follow him, Arthur walks back to the Quest board where the druid still stood. "Excuse me...Miss Arbour? I believe we've met briefly before." He extends a hand to the druid, before holding up a page of notes. "According to records, you acquired a...'Duke's Coat of Arms' was it? I have a friend who would be very much interested in studying it. Would you accept my Robe of the Archmagi and my Scroll of Sealing in trade for it?" Edited July 13, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Bricksandparts Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 OoC: Duh duh DUH... Arthur wants to trade in a scroll!!! "I understand." Johon says followed by another sigh. "Do you think I should ask her about it? I can't tell whether or not it's the right thing to do." Quote
Flipz Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) Arthur gives the man an appraising look. "How well do you know her, Johon? She told me out of necessity--our latest Quest did a lot to dredge up the ghosts of her past. It was...not an easy process. But who knows? She's with somebody now, someone who's been really good for her. Maybe she'll be more open about things." He shrugs. "I'm the last person to ask about relationships, romantic or otherwise. The man I learned from changed from a lovable loon of a Mage to a brooding, cynical necromancer, the empire I helped save thinks I'm a raving lunatic, half the people I fought Wren with died hating me with all of their being...not to mention my ex-girlfriends, one of whom became a murderous, pathologically lying, psychopathic stalker, and the other of whom was so disturbed by my numerous relationship fumbles that she became a Harlot after just one week of our being together. To put it another way...my best friends are a pint-sized Sorcerer from another universe with incomplete knowledge of our world and an exiled Assassin who was crazy enough to befriend me when I was still a practicing Chaomancer. That should tell you everything you need to know about my relationship skills." Edited July 14, 2013 by Flipz Quote
Kintobor Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Karie returns to the hall paler than usual. She sits on the floor by the door and patches her face up with her usual white face paint. After a minutes rest, she takes her cloak off and pulls out a few tools, beginning to work on the door. "Tell a werewolf to fix a set of doors and does he do it? Noooo! God, why does everything have to catch up to me now!" The ambiance of Karie working on the door softly drifts through the hall. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) "Ok..." Johon says. "That makes sense." After a short pause, Johon heads towards the door and sat next to Karie as she took out hinges and tools for the door. to try and find Karie. After looking down the streets, he notices her and rushes to catch up. "Do you want me to help with fixing that door?" Johon says enthusiastically. "I just thought that... I wanted to know what you've been struggling with. I... I don't know if I can, but I'll help you in any way I can." Edited July 14, 2013 by Bricksandparts Quote
Kintobor Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Karie drops the hammer as Johon speaks up. "Oh, Johon! No, actually I could use your help. Here, hold the door up while I put the new hinges in." Karie meticulously begins the task of fixing the door, motioning for Johon to assist, her voice droning into monotony. "Struggling with? Well, lots of things recently. I lost a friend, potentially broke a man, learned my sister is Violetta the Cat Burglar and that I'm adopted, became a nervous wreck, after all of the previous things happened, I'm still trying to commit to a possibility that I'm not a screw up." Karie pauses from her work. "Apparently I keep my emotions to myself, and last night I snapped." Karie continues to work on the door. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Johon is shocked, and for a moment is silent. "Wow... That's a lot more crap going on right now than I thought." Johon then looks confused. "Why do you think you're a screw up? If anything you're stronger than you were before. You lived through what most people don't live through." Quote
Kintobor Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 "My adoptive mother reinforced the idea I was inferior to my sister and a waste of space from an early age. It didn't help my life went downhill after I dropped out of University. Considering hat I've done these past few years and how many times I've messed up... yeah, I have more than one reason to think that way." Karie focuses on the door as she speaks with Johon. "I suppose that's one way of looking at things. However, since I moved here, I've been trying to look forward and ahead, and not behind. I really don't have any goals, and maybe that's a good thing. Right now, despite all the stuff that's happening to me, I'm legitametely somewhat content. I have a boyfriend who might actually stick around, I have two organizations to back up on with friends in both, and I've actually gotten my emotions off my chest and told them to a friend. Thanks, Johon." Karie smiles as she puts the final hinge in and motions for Johon to let go. "Good as new! The other one looks fine to me for the time being. Thanks for the chat. It felt liberating. Why don't we go and get a drink, eh? That was a little tedious and somewhat tiring." Karie grabs her cape and bag of tools and walks up to the bar. Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Em, downing the last of his drink, stands up from his quiet table in the corner and makes his way towards the counter. Handing the glass to the barkeep, he orders a refill, tossing the man a few coins in return. As he glides his way back to his seat, he unfurls a sheet of parchment paper. Upon taking his seat, he begins scribbling on it. The feathery quill bobbed and danced as he etched his message into the wrinkled, yellow paper. He stops suddenly, looking over his shoulder at the heroes of the hall, as if scanning for something, someone... Whatever it was he was searching for, he either didn't find it, or didn't let on that he did. Thus, he continued scribbling, his chickenscratch-style writing soon filling the page. Upon completing the task, he sits quietly, rereading whatever it was he wrote. His face betrayed nothing but utter concentration. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 "Sure!" Johon says as they finished fixing the door. Johon grabs two glasses and fills his with cider. "What do you want to drink?" Johon asks. Quote
xxlrocka Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Drake woke up, realizing that somebody had actually fixed the door. "Ah, tell a guy to fix a door and he won't do it. Try to do it all alone and then he wants to do it! What is the matter with these people?" "Don't ask. It's a big, confusing world we live in and too hard to understand. So please don't ask why a guy won't fix a door when you tell them to." "Easy for you to say. Even I don't know what's wrong with you..." Quote

Ellaria is a bit startled at the sudden proposal, but takes a moment to think about it. "Well, that is an awfully tempting offer, Mr. Regulus. I don't have any use for the Coat-of-Arms, myself, while the robe and the scroll would be very useful... Let's make it a deal, then." They proceed to exchange the items in question. Ellaria's mood improves even more due to this lucky occurence. Flipz Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Arthur hears the persistent Dwarf come up behind him as he returns to his work at the table. Count to twenty." Quote
Kintobor Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 "Boomingham. Lawrence Boomingham." Karie took a large drink out of her mug then set it on the table. "So, um... Where you from? Bricksandparts Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) "Well," Johon starts. "I'm sorta from two homes. There's the home I remember, and my real home. I grew up in a village, and that is where I learned most of my early fighting skills. Before that though, my life is hazy. I can only remember very faint parts of it. about the only event I can recall was the death of my parents..." Johon says, in a mournful voice. "The Proggs took over and rebelled. My parents, along with probably everyone else, died. I still don't understand how they saved me, but after that moment, nothing. Total blank. All I know is that event happened 800 years ago. How I am here today, I still don't understand." Edited July 14, 2013 by Bricksandparts Quote

Zepher Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Boomingham sits silently as Ellaria and Arthur exchange weapons and scrolls, staring wistfully into his tea instead of greeting the Sorcerer. He grins as Arthur walks away. "Be careful of that one, Ellaria. He's smarter than he lets on." Boomingham claps Arnulf on the back as his name is called. "Looks like you're off again, chappo. Make sure to collect some good stories for me." Boomingham shifts in his seat uncomfortably as Johon and Karie sit down further down the bar. Barty's light simmers dangerously for a short time, but he just zips around Boomingham's head. The Paladin swats at him irritably. Old habits die hard. Quote
