Endgame Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) "Killing you would get you nowhere. So I'll simply ensure you remember something. The last time I saw her, she was eleven years old. I was three. The last thing she told me? My mother and father loved me, and she always would too. I'll never know now thanks to you if the Wolfgang did truly corrupt her, or if what she said was true. If there was still some sense of affection towards me. I'll never know." "Karie... The woman we faced in the alley... She was Violetta. Not Kayla. She admitted that she was little more then a pawn sent by Ulric to do his bidding and die, giving up her ideals after being seduced by Ulric. She even admitted to being little more then that monster's bed warmer. She lost her way at one point or another, and Ulric simply manipulated her mind - and body - to his heart's content. Even still, with her ideals gone and her only purpose to be sent out to die, her last word was your name, Karie. I'm positive that she still would've loved you. No amount of corruption would've changed that. She dedicated herself to become another pawn in Ulric's game, and at that point, I have no idea whether I killed Violetta or Kayla. Kayla likely died at Ulric's hands long ago." I rap my knuckles on the ice. "Could we just sit down and chat? No knives, no intentions to kill, no interventions. Just two family members talking. Oh, and Arthur, please unfreeze the door." Edited July 16, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Chromeknight Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) Time had passed since the foundation day ball. Nerwen had spent some of it in the temple of Sem clearing her mind and exercising. The faint whisps of hallucinations which had dogged her since imbibing the pixie dust had left. Although she had learnt that the realm of the pixies was indeed real and their messengers not to be taken lightly. The rest of the time she had spent in the library, silently. Reading on the happenings of heroica and listening to the arguments she could hear from the nearby hall. Now returning to the hall again she came upon a strange tableaux. Sorrow the animutilav hand outstretched facing a robed and masked girl with red hair reaching for a weapon. On the steps a Mage, Arthur and the doors iced shut. She frowned briefly, leaving them to their fight and walked on by, using the library door and through into the hall that way. Once inside she looked around. Seeing a couple of faces she recognised, among them the fat paladin Boomingham , she continued to the quest board. There were two open quests, but one was asking for her, almost by name, there was no need to sign up for both. And, she wondered, were there even six elven heroes left in the hall? Nerwen Calmcacil(Chromeknight) signs up for quest#77 Returning upstairs to the saloon she took two ales from the bar, the pixies had left her with a renewed taste for alcohol, she plonked one down in front of the 'Desert King' and nodded at the slight girl talking to him. Kintobor Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 "After...that night...I went back by the scene. It was just...lying there. Flung from her in the struggle. When I saw it, I realized: this was her legacy. And whatever else she was, she deserved for that legacy to be remembered. This mask...it's a reminder. That even good intentions can turn to evil...and of what that can lead to." "This world...it's full of Violettas. And part of our job as Heroes is to help them find the Kaylas within. Some days it doesn't work out...like with your sister. But some days...some days you find Massons. Those are the days you live for. That's towards what we have to strive." Karie pockets the hood, and avoids eye contact with Arthur. "Karie... The woman we faced in the alley... She was Violetta. Not Kayla. Karie turns around and heads in the direction leading to the Three Gates district, shoving her hands in her pockets and facing the opposite direction as she speaks up. "Not... not now. I have a lot to think about. If anyone wants to follow me, I won't stop you." I'm such an idiot... Quote

The Legonater Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Dyric slowly walked into the hall, a little bit later than the other heroes from Quest 65. He notices many old friends in the hall, but is far too weary to speak to them at the moment. Instead he makes his way directly to a chair against a wall in the Hall. He falls down into it, exhausted. For the first time since fighting Wren, Dyric Rone sleeps. Quote
Zepher Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 "Excuse me, once again, Boomingham. Apologies." Boomingham smiles slyly. "A busy body, that one." Ellaria was her name she recalled. Stars shine on our meeting once again. she said to them all. Boomingham's face cracks into a huge genuine smile. "Lady Nerwen, what a pleasure it is to see you again! I believe I saw you briefly before the Ball? That Mulled Wine you bought me saved my life, my dear. I shall have to return the favor some time." Barty also zips around with unbridled excitement. "Hello there, Nerwen!" exclaims the little angel. "Glad to see you alive and well! The stars do shine." "This is Ellaria," says Boomingham, patting the younger girl on the back. "Ellaria, this is Nerwen. Despite her fear of the Gods, she's as wise a lady as you'll ever meet, and just as charming as you and Nyx, though I think she's got a few years on you." Boomingham wheels back to Nerwen. "When was it we met again? Traveling through time, wasn't it? Damned wizards, promising they had figured it out and it came crashing down in minutes." Quote

Despite her fear of the Gods, she's as wise a lady as you'll ever meet, and just as charming as you and Nyx, though I think she's got a few years on you." Ellaria smiles sheepishly at Nerwen. Despite their similar appearance, this elven woman seemed totally different from Alexis. She was much more poised, calm and collected, and looking into her eyes felt like looking at one's great-grandmother. "Pleasure to meet your acquaintance... ma'am", Ellaria uttered, feeling lost of words as to how to properly address the elf. ""I, too, am a servant to the gods - or rather to Sylvania of the Forests. CorneliusMurdock Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Cronk passes the other heroes at the entryway, nodding courteously. Oh, and an apple for Cronk's wolpertinger. Quote

xxlrocka Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Drake looked at Karie and Sorrow. They both had a cruel past, but not as cruel as Drake's. He'd never forget when his parents died during a special business trip to Eubric when he was only a small baby. The memory had lodged itself firmly into his mind, so he always thought about it. Night and day, day and night. Every lasting second to him was torture. Quote
Flipz Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 It had been some time since the situation between Karie and Sorrow was...well, if not defused, then de-escalated, at least. In the intervening hours, Arthur had buried himself in the books, at last untroubled by impending fights or impertinent dwarves. He'd made good progress--a final edit, once he'd had a few days with which to gain a fresh perspective, and they would be ready to set upon the shelves of the Library. There was just one book that was unfinished--he would wait for the opportune moment before handing the project over to the one who deserved to write it. Dyric wakes a long time later, well rested and pleased. His thoughts were still a buzz, but at least he could think coherently. He saw Arthur across the hall and walked to him. Brother! It is good to see you well. Arthur smiled. At last. How long have I waited to hear that voice? "Hello, Brother Poh--ah, Dyric." Now who the heck is 'Pohatu', and why did I get the urge to call Dyric that? ...I'm turning into De'kra. "How did your last Quest fare? You left before my outing at the Foundation Day Ball...I don't think you saw..." Arthur stepped back and demonstrated his garb. "As you can see,I've adopted something of a new career." Throlar stares after Sorrow and Kaire and then turns to Arthur. "Er... well... who is Cronk?" Arthur points to the Orcish Paladin, who was still sitting at the bar waiting for his order. "If you want an example of how to be a Hero, he's the one you should talk to, not me." He walks with Dyric a short distance away. "New guy," he says by way of explanation. "Doesn't seem to get that the Hero-ing business isn't a game." His eyes fall downcast, but he quickly brightens up for his friend's sake. "As a more positive example of a Hero, there's someone you should meet." Scanning the Hall, he finally spots De'kra sitting some distance away and walks Dyric over to his table. "Dyric Rone, meet one of my oldest and closest friends, De'kra." IC: De'kra flickers at a table, his head down. You disappeared right after the Wren battle. I have so many questions. For one, what inspired this new career? What does Alexis think of it? What happened at the theater? Did you, perhaps, see a man-bat there by the name of Crube? As for my own quest, it was... interesting. I quested with Nerwen, who provided a lot of wisdom. A fascinating woman, she is. Throlar strides over to Cronk, and is about to greet him with a simple hello when he sees that Cronk is an orc. With a great deal of err... something (I don't know the right word) he raised his mace above his head and says "Ereghk Valgahan!"with a great deal of reverence in his voice. Lowering his mace he says "I hope you understand that, Baltar is the only orcish language I know." (OCC in both words the H is pronounced as in the spanish word 'hamon'.) Quote

Or, I think the style is 'Miss', since I am not currently married. And, as far as elves go I am young yet. And yes I know both names. I recently had an experience with some of her subjects, pixies, though possibly the less said about that the better. How fare you? Speaking to Barty she said You seem cheerful little spirit! Does your charge prosper? Does his path bend ever closer to the will of your master? And to Boomingham, I am glad my gift was enjoyed! Yes, that quest for the zeigfrieds which involved time travel. That was a strange experience. Edited July 16, 2013 by Chromeknight Quote
