I not know why, but I feel weird later. Different. I...no, I meant to go on Quest 75. Have they already left?" He shock his head further, "Oh, are you Dyric Rone? Arthur told I about you. It is great to meet you. Sorry I mind not all there, I worry this is why I forgot my identity in first place." OOC: I like to think my absences are roleplaying. It's not, but I like to think that. It is great to meet you. Sorry I mind not all there, I worry this is why I forgot my identity in first place." "I don't blame you. Chaos...can do things to people. Even the slightest contact can change you--and they're the sort of changes that cannot be undone. After all--I would know." He shakes his head--his time dabbling in those arts would never leave him, no matter how hard he tried. Better to focus on the future instead. Indeed. You disappeared right after the Wren battle. I have so many questions. For one, what inspired this new career? What does Alexis think of it? What happened at the theater? Did you, perhaps, see a man-bat there by the name of Crube? As for my own quest, it was... interesting. I quested with Nerwen, who provided a lot of wisdom. A fascinating woman, she is. Also I... met someone. I've seen the type before. Had they fought against Wren or the Proggs, we'd all be about 6 feet lower. Arthur nods in agreement with Dyrics statement about the rookie Hero. "So you've found someone special? I'm glad. It seems to be the season for my friends to find companionship--on my last Quest one of my fellow Heroes met her own match." He doesn't mention Alexis, instead changing the subject abruptly. "I met no Crube at the Theatre, I'm sorry. The night was...one of victories and losses. On the one hand, we--as in, I and the two Heroes I led--killed two of the Wolfgang generals, Donny Dozenhands and Violetta the Cat Burglar, that night, and Nyx and Thothwick helped Lord Boomingham kill another, Steerpike the Poisoner. On the other, though..." Arthur leans in and pulls both of his companions closer, speaking in a much more subdued tone. "Some of this De'kra already knows, but we did not get enough time to speak in between my Quests, and some I did not learn until recently. Dyric...one of the Veterans is a member of the Wolfgang. I know, I was as shocked as you. But it makes sense. Why else would the Wolfgang offer almost all the Heroes they encounter a chance to defect? How would they know their new allies wouldn't be caught and expelled? Simple--they know that the Veteran in their pocket will keep them protected. But that's not even the worst of it." "De'kra, I don't think I ever told you this part. There was a Witch at the party. No, not Atramor--but I still do not trust him, either. She called herself Barbariccia Dellamore, better known as Baba the Bog Witch, kidnapper of Bluto Zeigfried. She did...something...to the leaders of the Houses. The other Heroes reported something of an enchanting song...all I know is, this started reacting like crazy when she started doing it." Arthur reaches into his pocket and extracts his Zoot's Plaything, which, in contrast to its behavior that night, did nothing but ripple gently in response to the movement. "Whatever she did, the Heads of the Houses--which were close to coming to peace, hell, one of the Hinckwell children was betrothed to a daughter of the Shadeaux--were provoked to greater discord than ever. Not even my best reason and diplomacy were enough to convince them to abandon the realms of madness for reason. In fact, they seemed insulted at the very suggestion. It seems that one's Diplomacy isn't good enough unless one lugs around a shield, and most of the people who do that seem more interested in bloodshed than redemption." Arthur shoots a nervous glance at Boomingham, even though he knew the Paladin was much too far away to hear. "And that's not all..." "Violetta the Cat Burglar--a.k.a. Kayla Raltyn--was a Hero's long-lost sister. As in, biologically related. And as if that weren't complicated enough, their distant, undead ancestor is one of the Heroes who helped kill her. The situation is all sorts of messed up--and that's just the first Quest I was on since Dyric and I last met." He shakes his head. "The past week has been...less than restful," he says sadly. Quote

Copper Fox does offer to teach heroes their class, but that is little obvious. Still, he is most well known Veteran, he would have chance to met all heroes, and know if they could be swayed. But this witch, is she connected to the Wolfgang? Because if Wolfgang used her to promote civil war, then their argument for wanting to help people of Eubric falls apart. Even if houses destroy each other and things get better, so many innocents will be lost in fighting. Houses won't care about who gets in crossfire, villages could get wiped out. Still, knowledge of Baba alone is troubling. I have faced mental plagues before, they are very dangerous. Even if corruption is removed, there can be side-effects. Peace may never get as close as it was." De'kra continued, "I...not really an expert on your people's families. Back home we emerged from world, and that was it. No fathers, no daughters, just brothers and sisters. And our word for sister more closely translates to 'blue brother.' Which says lot about culture barrier. I mean I know about eggs, squids lay them. But I not familiar with families exactly. It sound like betrayal kind of, but I not sure who is betraying who. Zepher Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Boomingham glances around the room and notes a few faces. He huddles carefully over his tea and sniffs at the sweet comforting smells. Speaking to Barty she said You seem cheerful little spirit! Does your charge prosper? Does his path bend ever closer to the will of your master? And to Boomingham, I am glad my gift was enjoyed! Yes, that quest for the zeigfrieds which involved time travel. That was a strange experience. "He is doing as he does," says Barty loosely and with a sigh. "His path bends, that's certain, though it's this way and that." The little angel pauses for a moment. "He has a good heart," he whispers. "Just wish he'd show it more often." "What was that?" Boomingham growls. "Nothing. Angel mumbo jumbo," Barty assures him. Boomingham smiles lazily. "Strange indeed. How has strange Olegia been treating you, my dearest?" Quote
Chromeknight Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) Nerwen leans forward and speaks in a low urgent voice. We freed a dragon from a witch's curse. That's the second dragon I've seen in my many summers and both have been here in Eubric. There is something about this place which draws lost things to it. Nerwen shakes her head as if to clear gloomy thoughts. The world is changing. I mean, of course it changes every day, but I sense a point approaching where everything in the city shifts suddenly. Like an earthquake, but in peoples' heads rather than in the earth. Nothing will be the same after. She looks expectantly at Barty, wondering if he is attuned to the same foreboding. "There is a witch walking the streets," says Barty ominously, hovering close to Boomingham's head, either seeking to protect his charge or seeking protection from his charge. "She's allied herself with the Wolfgang. And she's in the head of many of the leaders of this city already." Boomingham's eyes now land on Karie. "I'm afraid that some things once done can't be undone. I don't know how much damage she did to our leaders, but it may be permanent. Wasn't your friend Guts talking of a change in power? It may be that there aren't that many other options, is the seeds of discord remain sown. I told him it would only come in a time of discord, but it looks as if it's upon us." I rent the top floor. The owner said it used to be an artist's studio, but it's now got full appliances and what not. The entrance's is actually up that set of stairs in the alley." Karie still feels unnerved being with her great times seventeen relative, but tries to at least keep the peace and allows him to follow her. Endgame Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Well, this was getting increasingly awkward, but atleast the apartment itself was cozy. It hits me that i was pretty much a hobo in comparison, and an undead decaying one at that. Scary thought. "Nice place, Karie.", I remark, looking around the apartment. And it was true. I drift over to the the window, looking out at the sea for a few moments. The sound of the ocean was as soothing as ever. I look around the room, going for a drink when I spot a fresh boquet of roses. I smile - gave a few of those to my Sarah, once upon a time. "Helvetia almighty, i'm beginning to sound old..." I think.
