That is unfortunate, friend Throlar. It is a family thing? Cronk can understand having to take responsibilty for sake of others. It is what family is supposed to do.

Job does not preclude hobbies, though. Throlar could take up stamp collecting or something. Cronk recently began having music as hobby. Cronk finds playing music very relaxing after a long day of bashing evil.

"Yes,I'll explain later, got to go now mate."

So saying Throlar charges out the hall door.

"Can't recall the last time I turned tail, not my style. I dunno if I could see m'self as a knight, givin' up so much raw power just to hide behind a shield. But I've given up brawlin' to heal before, too, so it might be worth a shot."

He hears Arthur's name announced for a job

"Before ya go, Arthur.. somethin' to keep in mind: if you can't trust yourself, how can you expect others to? Takin' up a shield might do ya some good. Takes discipline to hold a line, could help ya keep yer magic in check."

Shortly afterwards, Thormy follows him out the door but heads to the Training Hall. Time to see what the Shadeaux had in store for him.

Time to pay some dues - I walk over to the Sorcerer, standing next to his chair. he is in conversation with Thromanil.

"Ah, hopefully I'm not intruding. Hello, Thromanil - and hello to you too, Arthur. Thanks for the ...assist... back there."

"Not a problem...it's what I do."

"Yeah...I think I will. Thanks, Thormanil."

He briefly stops by Dyric and Haldor before he goes. "Well, I'm off. Dyric, could I have that Elixir for 20 gold?"

Bidding farewell to Dyric and stopping to do the same for De'kra, Arthur leaves the Hall, heading through the Marketplace on his way to his new mission.

Dyric nodded softly. He had been too tense since the final battle, hadn't he?

He looked up at Haldor, his face just barely betraying a grin.

Alright. But you deal first.

Haldor claps his friend heartily on his back.

"Ah, good on you, lad. Glad to have to you back."

The nord reaches into a pocket and produces a bundle of string-wrapped playing cards. Although well-worn and sporting suspiciously ale-like stains, the cards are legible and at the very least all there.

"So, Dyric, what d'you want to play?"

Sure thing, Arthur. I hand Athur the Elixir for 20 Gold

I'll leave the choice to you. I haven't played card that much since leaving Duplovia, so I still don't quite know what's the norm around here.

"At home, the men used to play a game called 'Jester' in between drinking and ogling the ladies, ever heard of that?"

At seeing Dyric's blank face, Haldor decides it best to explain.

"Guess not. It's a fairly simple game, anyhow. We each take five cards from this deck randomly and keep 'em a secret. Each turn we choose one of each other's cards to swap, not knowing what we're gonna get. Afterwards, we draw another card from the pile. Goal is to get yourself some pairs of cards. The bloke with the most pairs when all cards are used up, wins. The trick is, there's also a Jester in this pack, a fool, if you like. Ain't no pair for that, so you want to get rid of it. You understand?"

The hall doors opened and in walked a weary looking man.

"My name is Louis Argenshire and I would like to become a hero."

"Yes." Said Louis as he sat down "I have traveled over high mountains and through dense forests to come here, and to become a hero."

"I guess you are already a hero, with many tales to tell."

Posted

"Perhaps you could say that." Johon says with a pause. "Where are my manners? My name's Johon."

Johon points towards the questboard.

"That's the Questboard, whenever someone needs our assistance they'll post a message up there. Currently they are all busy, but sometimes it's nice to have a break from the danger and such. Right now a lot of people are sorta angry, so I'd recommend trying not to interfere. It could just make things worse."

Louis looked sadly at the questboard, dissapointed that there were still no quests available. "I guess when someone has been on as many quests as you, they welcome a rest, but I want to go on a quest. I didn't come to this hall just to drink mead."

Posted

"I personally like the cider." Johon says jokingly. "I know how you feel. I was the same way when I first came here. Would you want me to give you a few lessons on fighting in the arena? It's something to do."

Althior walks into the hall after many weeks and signs up for Quest #79. He then continues up the stairs to sit isolated away in a corner, flipping a kitchen knife through his fingers as he tips his chair back against the wall, obviously wanting no part of any events occuring in the hall.

Good game, Haldor. It appears I fail at cards as well as science. Perhaps next time. For now, duty appears to always be calling.

I walk over to the quest board, and examine the new quests. I look over, and see a ranger clad in green I have not met before doing same.

Hello there. I stick out my hand. 'Name's Dyric, Assassin of the Light. Which one you going on?

Posted (edited)

"Em," the green-glad ranger replies, taking the outstretched hand and shaking it firmly. "I hope to go on Quest 78."

Assassin of the Light? Interesting title. Em felt it better not to ask about it.

"I haven't been around long," Em replies, inspecting the stranger. "Few weeks, maybe. Not sure."

Dyric's curiosity was different, to say the least. Em was used to most people asking questions, though after a few short replies they usually backed down.

"What about you? You been here long?"

Hard to tell. I'd say it's been a year or so since I got here from the Homeland, but the Hall seems to have a strange effect on time. Mind you, I once got in a scuffle with the floorboards, so I guess this place is anything but normal. Still, it's home now as much as anything.
