Peanuts Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) "What am I going to do with this beat-up sword!!?!?!?!" Cinna slumps back in her chair with a bit of worn-out, if not defeated, look on her face. Wow, that's one bloody trashy sword. I wonder by what malicious force a piece of solid metal could be that crooked? Compliment for that found, mage lady (OOC: Nice way of storytelling, btw. Hope you don't mind me to adapt it? I post in this thread far too rarely) Edited September 5, 2011 by Peanuts Quote
Darkdragon Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) Cinna sighs again and looks from the sword to the two Heroes. "The only reason I didn't throw it in the water was to prevent some poor soul from cutting himself on it." She picks up the disgraceful sword and hands it to Thormanil. "Here you go, I hope your family appreciates all my hard work to dig it up.", she gives him a wink as she finished that sentence. Turning to Henry, her expression more thoughtful now. "That's a good question. Obviously a lot of the damage was caused by the sea, but what foul beastly fight could have caused that bending? Even more of a concern is how did it end up buried at the edge of Eubric's beach? Perhaps it really is a relic from the great war." Edited September 5, 2011 by darkdragon Quote
brickmack Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Koemus wakes up, just outside the door to Heroica Hall. The last thing he remembers is walking out with some rangers to scout around what seemed to be a troll attack group. Judging by the sunburn covering all of his body, jis hunger, and the amount of his tea that had evaporated, he guessed he had been unconscious for nearly a month. As he struggled to stand up, he happened to smell the remains of his tea. There was a very distinct smell of poison in it. "Probably some Rouge trying to be funny", he muttered. He entered the Hall, and asked loudly (Well, as loudly as he could while still suffering effects from the poison), "Any healers around here? I've got quite a sunburn, and I think I've been poisoned" Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) "Do not worry Mister Koemus, I am Haldor Skovgaard and you are welcome to sit at my table. Alow me to tend to your wounds" Haldor mutters some strange words and an eerie light pours from his hands onto Koemus' sunburn and evaporates it. Haldor then spits into a vial and casts some magic over it. He then hands the potion over to Keomus to drink. "I have repaired your skin, Koemus, drink this potion and it will defeat any poison that can be made in this area." Haldor smiles welcomingly "So, Koemus, what is your story?" Edited September 5, 2011 by Scorpiox Quote
brickmack Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 "Thanks Haldor." *Drinks the potion and waits a few seconds for it to remove the effects of the poison* "Well, about 6 months ago I was kicked out of my village for suggesting to my father, who is one of the village leaders, that non-elven races are not necessarily inferior. This is a very strong belief among the older elves. I was given a bow and a few other supplies, and a mage teleported me to a small island nearby. over several weeks of traveling and fighting, I managed to make my way here. Perhaps if I can do some quests and help people, I may be able to remove some of the old elven prejudices." "Barmaid! A glass of water, and and some chicken if you have any, please." *Looks back over at Haldor* "So, what's your story?" Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 "Well, for as long as I remember I never fitted in at my village. Being a Norse tribe it was all about combat and proving yourself, I always knew that I did not belong there." Haldor tells Koemus his tale It was a cold and icy morning and a lone figure was making his way to the nearest shelter, he had traveled far from the frozen Norse lands in search of a point to his life. He was clad in thick furs and heavy chainmail, he carried a small satchel stuffed full of what little supplies he could carry. As the sun rose the townsfolk noticed his worn and battered face, his flowing hair and beard, his strange throbbing mace and his eyes, those young eyes told a story of his life and his journey to the port of Eubric. It all started many years ago, in a wintery Norse village full of brave warriors and wise veterens... Since birth Haldor had been different from the other young men of the tribe, they always drempt of battle and hunting whereas Haldor was quiet, thinking of the world and why it was as it is. Haldor was bullied for not being as strong or as violent as the others, and laughed at for reading great tomes and muttering to himself. Haldor tried to be like the others, but he did not enjoy killing, he much prefered to try and give life back to things that were dying. He trained under the healers and wise men of the village but was infuriated at the ignorance of them, they still thought amputating a limb was the cure for everything! Life went on as it had done for many years untill an ill-fated hunting trip had turned Haldor's world upside down. For Haldor had always had this unusal touch, beetles that were crippled had moved again, dogs that were rotting had awoken , even bulls that were condemmed by disease had been as good as new. This power was to change Haldor's life in the coming weeks. As usual in the autumn months the men of the village rode out into the forest to stock up the supplies for winter, this was one of those trips, it went as smooth as ever with plentiful deer and wolves. But one of those wolves did not belong there, it had been twisted by a great sorcerer and thus stalked the hunters like wild rabbits. The cheiftain, Throdric, had spotted it and decided it would make a great prize, he decided to take it on single handedly. It didn't end well to say the least. Haldor had been trapping a hare when he heard the terrible screams, he rushed over to see the wolf savaging Throdric. He called for help and the wolf was quickly slain by the hunting party. But the cheiftain was mortaly wounded. The healers were called to do anything they could to save him, but he was fading. One of the healers had seen Haldor use his power and so Haldor was told to use all his strength to help ease the pain. Haldor began muttering and soon he lost control of his energy, he twitched and writhed as his magic was evaporating the wounds and removing all traces of the cheiftain's injury. After what seemed like hours Haldor awoke to see what he had done. Haldor was called a hero and appointed cheif healer of the village, but after months of reviving headstrong children and foolhardy warriors he grew bored, he wanted to use his powers for a purpose. He heard whispers of a free port where anyone was welcome and he could meet other people who were blessed as he was. Haldor gathered his things and journeyed to this fabled port, the road was hard and he found many dangers on the way, but after 3 years of hardship he stumbled upon a ferry bound for the free port of Eubric. He was hungry and tired after his quest and entered what he thought was a tavern, but turned out to be Heroica Hall! He had arrived at the legendary hall where heros were made. Haldor strode up to the quest board and signed up to the hero roster, and waited for new quests to be posted. Haldor finishes his tale just as the barmaid places his roast hare on the table, Haldor gives the barmaid a shiny penny as a tip and begins to devour his hare. "I was wondering if you would like to join me on an adventure into the forest later, I have heard of a goblin pillaging farms and robbing travelers." Quote
brickmack Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Perhaps. If there is time left in the day after I finish my food, and visit the market, I will join you. *Takes another bite of his chicken* Quote
swils Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Thormanil accepts the sword, and tucks it into his pack, which he seemingly conjured out of nowhere. As he slings the pack over his shoulder (and it mysteriously vanishes from view, again...), he thanks Cinna, with a big grin on his face... Thormanil, to Cinna: "Heh, many thanks. You've no idea how many cavities and tooth decay you've just spared my clan from! Though, our uh.. 'dentist,' may want to have a word with you... He's been doing well for himself in the business of knocking, err, 'surgically removing' those rotten teeth outta the youngsters' mouths! Ha ha!" Thormanil walks to the bar to get another drink. As he waits, he checks the Quest board, but to his disappointment, the land and its people seem to be doing just fine without adventuring folk meddling around in everything. The bartender gives him a shout, and Thormanil returns to the bar. Appreciating the quality pour, the fullbodied head without any overflow, he tips the bartender kindly, and heads back to the table. Sandy Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 ~There are two new quests posted on the Quest Board~ Ellaria Arbour returns to the Heroica Hall once more. During her stay at the city, she has moved from an inn to a rented room in an elderly pharmacist's house. She pays her rent to the old lady by tidying up and keeping the medicine shelves in check. The pharmacist has tried to lure Ellaria to work for her, but something inside Ellaria says it is not what she is meant to do, and she doesn't want to let her landlady by bailing out on her if she finds a quest suitable for her. Walking in, Ellaria sees new quests billed on the Quest Board. Knowing both quests would benefit from a cleric, Ellaria has to make a decision. She ultimately decides to write her name down on Quest#5: Cave Sounds. A little danger feels like what she needs in her life right now. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Accompanied by my five companions, I, Bartholomew Docken, reenter Heroica Hall. It feels good to be a veteran of a successful quest. I'll have the usual, please. By the way, I am selling a Fang Dagger (WP: 4), suitable for Mages and Rogues, for which I am asking 30 Gold. That's 10 Gold less than you would pay at the Marketplace to upgrade your weapon from WP 3 to WP 4. Anyone interested? Quote

This is just a suggestion, though." Quote

Scorpiox Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) Haldor returns to the hall, he was never one to get drunk. He walks up to the quest board and notices the new quests. "Hmm, I am interested to help the Shadeux on this occasion, I'll sign up for Quest #4: Taming the Lions Haldor sees that the questers have returned from the farm. "Ahh Mister Bartholomew, I have heard of your success in saving the farm, I must congratulate you. Come join my table, I'd love to hear of your exploits. " Haldor walks to the bar and and orders something the others had never heard of, an old Norse meal probably. He returns to his table and notices that he towers over most in the hall, having lived in a Norse tribe he hadn't noticed that he was a good foot taller than the other heros. Peppermint_M Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Tesni had tarried behind her comrades, mesmerised by the sight of mountains in the far distance. The port city had obscured her view of that fine horizon. I shall visit them one day. Tesni thought. Walking into town she drew close to the market but shook her head, it would be nice to hold some gold in her pocket a while longer, knowing her party mates would be at the hall by now she carried on to the hall. Opening the door to the hall she notice her friends in the corner on the mage magiced large table, "Hail friends!" She called, hurrying the last few steps. "Our battle was glorious! Our victory fantastic! A pint of ale for all please madam barkeep!" Quote

To better his odds of being selected, Hoke pens his name under both quests. Hoke Ablesword signs up for: Quest #4: Taming the Lions and Quest #5: Cave Sounds Quote

Peanuts Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Henry once again enters the hall, seeing a crowd around the questboard. Looks like there are finally some new quests up. "Strangers, eh?", he asks. "Sounds funny. And fortunately I have some experience with raiding ships, er, people who raid ships. I'm going to sign up for Quest #4." Henry walks off, but suddenly turns around. "Those strange cave sounds could also be a worthy adventure. I'm going to sign up for Quest #5 as well. But who the hell am I talking to?" Having signed up for both quests, Henry gets himself a drink and sits down somewhere, watching the other heroes in the hall. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) It was time, mused Rystael. The boy had become a man. He summoned Tarn to the front of his church. The old cleric allowed himself a fond smile as the lanky, ponytailed youngster strode up to him. "My boy, the monks of Valco have looked after you since you were young, after the attack on your village by bandits. We took you in and cared for you, trained you in the arts of pole-axe fighting." "Your knowledge and wisdom has taught me many things, Rystael. I will forever be in your debt." "There is no debt to repay, to me, or the brotherhood of Valco. You have been like a son to me." "As you have been like a father to me", replied Tarn, earnestly. Rystael looked away for a second, pained. "I only wish we could have found your sister when we found you all those years ago. But today is about you. Tarn, you have grown up to be a fine man, and I am honoured that you will carry the name of our order with you as you leave this church and seek your destiny." "It is true then, Rystael? I am to be an Adventurer?" exclaimed Tarn excitedly. "That is indeed your fate, Tarn Valco. The pole-axe you carry and wield with such precision will be taken with you, of course. But I have a couple of gifts for you." Rystael came back absent his staff, but hands filled with the gifts for his young protege. "I offer you a bottle of mead, to be drunk when the need for fighting takes you, and a potion, to heal all ills. May they help you on your quests." "My thanks to you. I will use these gifts wisely." "Go now, Tarn. Go to Heroica Hall and become the hero you were meant to be. Remember all I have taught you, and keep a place in your heart for compassion and kindness as well as courage and valour." The two shook hands, and Tarn set off for the great Heroica Hall. Finally, after many weeks of travel, after setting out from his village high in the mountains of Titaan, Tarn Valco had made it to the free port of Eubric, and the renowned Heroica Hall. He was weary from his travels and immediately went to the bar for some mead, before looking around at his surroundings. Seeing the Quest Board he eagerly scanned it, and saw that his luck was in, with two quests announced. Tarn signs up for both Quest #4: Taming the Lions and Quest #5: Cave Sounds Having done this, he spots a table full of adventurers who seem to have fulfilled an earlier quest. He pulls up a chair, intrigued. OOC: Sorry for reposting Tarn's origin post, I thought it was worthwhile as it had been such a long time between posts. Peppermint_M Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Tesni sat at the table, her friends and quest mates had drifted off to sleep or had seemingly gone straight to an inn for rest. Sirius Black Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Heroica Hall had been noticeably quiet as of late. Of course, the absence of some of the more talkative individuals helped with that, but lately, conversation had been a rare occurence. Glancing over at the quest board, Bob noticed two quest sign-ups availiable. Having learned his lesson of not signing up for just one quest, Bob put his name down for both Quest #4: Taming the Lions and Quest #5: Cave Sounds Quote
